GREAT!!!

Maddog is back is GREAT! Another suspensful edition of this exciting character. Mike has no fear and takes on a case head-on each time. His determination as he takes on a case is fearless and filled with determination. I'm ordering the next book today.

Another Great Mike Murdock Story-----excellent!

After reading the first book, I did not think anything could be more exciting.....just wanted to keep turning the pages. Tom has a gift of keeping readers attention...not wanting to put the book down. Excellent read....looking forward to the next book which I have already purchased.

Fast Paced

This book takes you back in time to 1969. It's fast paced and action packed and that makes it hard to put down. You want to know what happens next and you can't really predict it so you want to keep reading. Once you're done with it, it's hard not to be sad because it's so enjoyable. However, you can take solace in the fact that there's another book coming...

This Maddog Doesn't Need to be Neutered.

A violent, rollicking throwback to the great noir novel and films of the 40's-50's. Maddog is a private eye who loves women, kicking ass, and finding his quarry. The rawness of Mr. Golobek's novel actually helps the feel of being in the presence of a confirmed misogynist who stuffs as much lust, humor, and wisecracks as he can into his adventures. Five Stars.

Don't Miss This One!!

Reading this was like a rich journey through a different time and place with bigger-than-life characters. Reads much like a good old pulp fiction with touches of realism and grittiness. The plot and suspense will carry you through to the end. I definitely recommend this to all.

Don't buy it's one of those to be continued books

After listening to 12 chapters the books just ends. "To be continued" but where is the next part? Don't start it!

Classic 50's paperbacks given a pulp twist...

If you could sum up Charles Boeckman Presents Johnny Nickle, Volume 1 in three words, what would they be?

Trouble finds me!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not so much on the "edge of my seat." The writers were trying to emulate the style of 1950's pulp paperback writers and with it crafted two stories where you knew where the story was heading about halfway through, but still I wanted to carry through to the end just because they were a lot of fun to hear.

What does Lance Roger Axt bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

"The voice." And by that I mean I couldn't hear anyone but him narrating this. He's quickly become one of my favorite readers.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"I'm no detective, lady... I just play jazz."

Top class Canadian crime!

Another slice of top class Canadian crime fiction from Dietrich Kalteis with Triggerfish. Triggerfish is the third novel from Kalteis after Ride the Lightning and The Deadbeat Club.

My kind of bookââ.. a cop becomes an ex-cop and a boatman, a drug-smuggling submarine owned by a Mexican cartel, a biker gang trading guns for cocaine, a raspberry thong-ed environmentalist, a sexual encounter interrupting the drugs transfer, and the aftermath. The cartel coming after our main man Beckman and his date in an effort to eliminate the witnesses.

Action, violence, sex, vegan food, environmentalists, the sea, a hapless assistant, a concerned friend, a love rival, drug-runners, bikers, a stabbing, a terrorist on the most wanted list, a low-level criminal duo of uncle and nephew in over their heads, cocaine and guns, opportunity, theft, torture, arson, death, fisticuffs and more.

Fast-paced, entertaining, engaging, funny in all the right places, educational (whoever knew the cartels smuggled drugs in purpose built-submarines? not me), satisfying.

Ticks in every box.

Top-Notch Canadian Crime Fiction

If there was any doubt whether the Canadians could write hard nasty crime fiction, Kalteis has put those doubts to rest. Ex-cops running charter boats out of Vancouver, women who step out for an evening boat ride in heels and shorty shorts, Mexican cartels running dope in mini-subs, biker clubs trading Chinese guns for Mexican dope, environmentalists out to save the whales, and one mean terrorist lady who keeps dropping in. It's a non-stop action-packed attitude-filled festival of crime fiction. Kalteis delivers a fine piece of work, well-balanced, well-plotted, well-played, although at times you do need a scorecard to keep the players straight.
