Well Done!

In a world filled with evolution-this, evolution-that, it is so refreshing to find a gentle picture book for children that celebrates God's unique design of each of His creatures, and how the special features he has equipped them with make it possible for them to exist where He has placed them.

Homeschooling mom of four, Debra Haagen, has written the fact-filled Amazing Animals by Design. The story follow a family of four (mom, dad, girl, boy) through a zoo and explores the unique characteristics of a variety of animals, both common (the elephant) and slightly more unusual (carcacal anyone?) Once the trip to the zoo is over the family marvels together over God's unique plans for each animal and the care He has taken in designing them. Another aspect of this title that I LOVED is that the family also reflects together upon how God has made humans different from animals, and what the main differences are. Humans are too often lumped together with animals, and I love seeing this differentiation presented respectfully.

Written with early elementary children in mind (K-3rd) my two girls in this age range cuddled together on the couch with me as we read this title together. My 6 and 9-year-olds both really enjoyed this title and the resulting conversations that stemmed from reading it. They give it 5/5, most definitely!

This title is published by Tate, and in my time as a book reviewer I've come to associate them as a self-publishing house, but don't let that deter you AT ALL. The quality of the PDF version of Amazing Animals by Design that we received is simply excellent. The English is well written, clear, and accurate - the illustrations are lovely, this is a high quality production.

Beautiful message

John and Sarah visit the zoo with their parents and learn all about the differences in the animals.

God designed each one to fit into it's special environment and thrive.

He designed us extra special as well.

I read this to my six and four year old children. My four year old seemed a bit antsy, but said that she really liked the story. My six year old said it was awesome and asked me to read it again.

I have an older Kindle so all of the pictures were black and white. But this didn't seem to bother the kids at all. I liked the message of the story, but most of all, I liked how the kids took the message to heart and talked about it.

It's not about makeup, hairstyle, or even self-confidence

Typical Lily: "Lilyâs brother Art said Lilyâs hair always looked like it was enough for thirty-seven people the way it stuck out all over her head. A new start. A lady from a modeling agency came over to Lily's school and showed the sixth-graders how to take care of their body. For once, Lily didn't feel like a giraffe. She felt special, no matter what Shad or her brothers had to say. And then that lady asks her to try out for modeling classes. Could life get any better? Lily is getting more and more poise with every class, and she loves passing on lessons to her friends. But even more Lily just can't wait until the show! Won't Shad be amazed! "Here's Lily" is a great middle-school book that dives into the issue of self-esteem. Lily learns that it's not about makeup or hairstyle. It's not even really about self-confidence and being assertive. It's about being confident in who God made one to be! Lily can only get through the hard times with God's help, and she learns to trust Him.

"Here's Lily" is the first in the fourteen-book Lily series.

Just ok

My daughter and I felt that the story dragged for sometime but picked up toward the end of the book. The book did have a good moral but my daughter still doesn't have a definitive feeling about Lilly. We purchased one other Lilly book at the same time and will make a more definitive decision on continuing the series after reading that one.

Beautifully written good read! 6 Stars!

LOVED IT!! It's not often you read a book that makes all the other ones you've read in the past year pale in comparison. This story is beautifully written and has a message and a voice that can reach into the heart of any person at any age. There are rich levels and textures in Star's story and the lessons she learns, lessons that are relevant to journeymen at any stage in life. It touched my heart and underlines deep spiritual truths in a way that is hard to put into words. The world is ripe for and needs stories like this one ~ inspirational tales of life, restoration, hope and purpose. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying and also growing from joining Star in this journey, and I highly recommend it for readers any and everywhere. A truly wonderful book!

Journey toward acceptance and identity

Jane Smith takes us on quite an adventure as Star travels from her desire for acceptance and fame through a path of healing and on into her destiny. Star and the Book of Treasures is aimed at late elementary or junior high audiences, but will be enjoyed by adults as well, and it is a perfect read-aloud book that will engage families as a whole. The Little Frog

Excellent story, read it to my Sunday school preschool class and did little frogs missing something, the children picked, like a leg or toe, eye, and then we talked about it. The only negative thing is I bought it for my kindle and thought it was pricey, however I would have paid that for the book in hard copy, just not on my kindle.

I loved the story, but the book cover was very dirty, but I was able to clean it off.

Great Book

Everyone should share this story with their children and grandchildren. It is a lesson well learn. The illustrations are wonderful and well done.

I loved the scripture and lessons from scripture applied to the details of the science of how our body systems work and are created to do so many detail things to protect us.

I would only recommend this book only if Audible can provide the illustrations and exercises that are in the book. Without these the book is difficult to utilize as an educational provision.

The personality traits of the reading is great! The author makes the reading quite personable and provides a sense of the human presence and relevance when listening to the book. The author also make reference to great study skills!
