Finances and Gods Plan? Wonderful advice that gets you thinking...
Tom Meaglia does an outstanding job at revealing how we can apply biblical principals to our lives to better manage our money and find true happiness. Each chapter provides biblical scripture and the author's views on how it relates to our everyday lives.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book as it approached a subject that is typically "taboo" in church. People tend to shy away from talking about money with others - especially in church. I've never had a church leader approach the subject other than to ask for giving. Tom Meaglia's book is introspective in that it gets you to think about your own situation and how you can improve your personal finances while achieving the goals you have in life.
Like many, I'd like to provide my family a better standard of living and still be able to give to the church. It seems impossible living in California, but Tom provides methods and life principals to help you begin making that change in your life. He utilizes biblical principals as the backbone for discussing four main topics; ownership, stewardship, giving and contentment.
The section on contentment was very helpful to me as I've always felt a part of the rat race - always trying to move forward and never really feeling content on where I'm at. I took away that I can be content now and in the future. It's a state of mind and acceptance of where you are at right now. It doesn't mean that you don't try hard to do well in your life and career - it just means that you can find contentment at all stages of your life.
I think each person will take something different away from this book. It's not preachy in that it tells you it has to be "this" way or nothing. It opens up your heart and mind and gets you thinking what changes I can make in my life for the better.
Highly recommended!
An important book that brings real-world application to biblical principles of money
We've all heard that "Money is the root of all evil"...As a Christian, money is a reality in our society. This book helped me look at how I can deal with my money, while following God's plan for me.
As a "regular" person, I don't normally read books on finances. This book, however, was easy to follow and very thought-provoking.
