    Publisher's Summary:
Sicilee and Maya have been rivals since elementary school. Now in high school, they dislike each other more than ever. Sicilee is the center of the most popular group at Clifton Springs, and Maya is the heart of the hip, trendy set. And neither of them is likely to notice Waneeda, who prefers to eat candy and work as little as possible. None of these girls has a thing in common until Cody Lightfoot, the most drop-dead gorgeous boy imaginable, joins the student body, causing every girls head to turn. But all Cody seems to care about is the Environmental Club, which has the distinction of being the most unpopular club in the history of the school. Nerdy club or not, none of the three girls can let the other be the first to get a date with Cody. But how far are they prepared to go? Will Waneeda actually join a club? Will Sicilee start reading labels rather than wearing them? Will Maya take up riding her bike to school and eating tofu? With her trademark quick-fire wit, Dyan Sheldon shows just what girls will do for love- and what earth-changing realizations they might have along the way, despite themselves.

In The Crazy Things Girls Do For Love, polar opposites Sicilee and Maya battle it out in an effort to out-green each other and impress Cody, the hotter-than-greenhouse-emissions new kid who decides to join the socially-outcast environmental club. They both seem like lost causes: Sicilee, a girl whose carbon footprint would make Paris Hilton faint, and Maya, a girl who likes to talk big about her environmental causes, yet still rides her own suped-up car to school. But even though the effort to win Cody's heart seems futile, the effort to save the planet--a mere collateral good deed from Sicilee and Maya--gradually becomes important to both girls.
I knew I would love The Crazy Things Girls Do For Love by Dyan Sheldon as soon as I picked it up, just because of the title. Trust me: been there, done that. When I actually read the synopsis, I was happy to find that Dyan Sheldon is the creator of one of my favorite books (and popular Disney movies) of all time: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. The target age range for The Crazy Thing Girls Do For Love is YA--just like Confessions--and I couldn't help but smile throughout the whole book; the characters are so relatable in their teendom, even if they are a bit extreme.
In Sicilee you find the classic, if somewhat cliché, self-centered girl who is used to getting everything she wants. Watching her character develop from someone who believes the planet literally revolvs around her to someone who realizes that she herself is the key to changing the planet is really refreshing. Yes, it's natural for the mean, spoiled girl to experience some self-realization, but the fact that she is able to learn respect for the planet along the way is a nice subtle undertone that makes The Crazy Things Girls Do For Love original.
In Maya, readers find a modern reflection of teenager "hipsters". She likes to talk the talk about environmentalism but doesn't know how to put her thoughts into actions without being deemed uncool. She always cared about the environment, but it took a cute boy for her to finally join the socially suicidal environmental club.

    Waste of money.......Great Narrator
Undead is the worst Zombie story ever.... It was agony to listen all the way through...What a waste of time........... The Narrator was great! She did the best she could with this JUNK!!!
It was boring, the plot was awful, and the Characters were just weak...
    Kids Today
"For all we know, this is some whacked-out haggis flu..."
I haven't been a teenager in more than 20 years; I don't know if kids today really talk the way they do in this novel, but I'd like to think so.
It's not deep or groundbreaking, but I had a lot of fun listening to Undead. It's a classic zombie story, with a group of high schoolers (a loser, a rebel, a geek and a teen queen) in an isolated area, fighting off the undead and making lots of snappy comments as they do it. There's some teenage angst, but not too much. A touch of romance, but nothing sappy.
The narration is solid, though I felt some of the more sarcastic lines could do with a bit more zing.
Will there be a sequel? The ending certainly hints at one. The final hour raises lots of questions. I just wish the major revelation about the source of the infection didn't feel so hastily tacked on and was explained more convincingly and thoroughly. But this is the only real flaw I found in the book.
    Good zombie story
It is narrated by a scottish lady, but you get used to the accent pretty quick. Typical survivor story, with a picked on heroine, but she is tough and turns into a good leader. The ending was kind of abrupt, wondering if there are plans for a sequel.
    Funny YA Zombie Book
This book was really funny for the subject matter. Kind of Shaun of the Dead meets Twilight. The narrator has a British accent which kind of threw me, since the main character, Bobby is a person who just moved to Great Britain from the US. She keeps forgetting to call french fries "chips" but she has a heavy English accent. The story was pretty standard, but wholly entertaining. Short(just over 7 hours), but I found myself laughing out loud a few times. Not worth a credit, but worth paying cash.
Great Light Listen - Didn't go to bed until 3
All the great elements of a good, light (if in the zombie world there is such a thing), zombie thriller. Suspense, well narrated, and pretty funny in places. This is not just for young adults and would make a fantastic listen on the road.

Sorry kind of spoiling the book
I chose 3/5 because it was a great book but it needs some improvements! It liked it, but there was some parts that the author should of added... like I feel like the author should have wrote some other things with the Blair thing: helping lucy with the iMovie. Like what happened? Did it go well? Should have mentioned something on her everyday routine after being president
    Awesome
wow this book is funny and witty but also heartwarming
well that's why I chose this one in particular
this is good for 4rth grade and up
    Amazing
I loved all of the rivalry and drama. All of the characters were hilarious and unique although i would recommend reading the other books first
Ending Dork Discrimination, Fighting Mean Girls, Bloversharing and Much Tween Angst
I was already a big fan of Lucy B. Parker, but this book was even better than the first two. Lucy has mostly settled in to her life in New York, but learns that you can't really go home again when she returns to Northampton and her dad and his new girlfriend barely have time for her because they're anticipating the birth of her brother, Ziggy. Meanwhile, she decides to run for class president and end "dork discrimination." Palmer paints a Mean Girl you'll love to hate who Lucy goes to bat against, with a little help from her friends, and a fight with her "frister" (friend/sister) along the way. Lucy is lovably neurotic and her own dorkiness shines through in the best way possible here. She's a true original and her fears and friendships are a delight to read about. I'd recommend this for any tween, especially ones who are dealing with figuring out how to be themselves in all their quirkiness. Adults will appreciate a sly reference to Anya Hindmarch's famous eco-friendly bags and Lucy's terminology such as "bloversharing." An excellent read and perfect addition to the series.
    sooo good
I love this book so muvh an i recomend it yo any 8-12 year old girl. This books were a big hit at my school. Everybody lovefd them and related to them.great book

    Another fabulous Terry Pratchett book
Yes! I KNOW it's a children's book - but I have read everything else that he has written! I still enjoy the fun and daftness of his writing, I am also impressed that he always manages to have Good winning over Bad, and his characters are interesting and delightful! I love this man's writing. I always go back to his books if I have had a couple of bad choices and have been disappointed in books - he restores my spirits!
I was very impressed by Richard Mitchley - it's the first time I have heard him and I liked him a lot.

    Publisher's Summary:
Rebecca Barnhouse weaves Norse gods, blood feuds, and a terrifying dragon into this spectacular retelling of the end of the Old English poem Beowulf.
When he was a baby, Rune washed up onshore in a boat, along with a sword and a pendant bearing the runes that gave him his nickname. Some people thought he was a sacrifice to the gods and wanted to send him right back to the sea. Luckily for Rune, King Beowulf disagreed. He lifted the boy from the boat and gave him to Amma, a wisewoman living on a farm far removed from the kings hall, to raise as she saw fit.
Sixteen years later, Rune spends his summers laboring on the farm. And at King Beowulfs request, he comes to the hall each winter for weapons training. But somehow he never quite fits in. Many people still fear he will bring a curse on the kingdom. Then a terrible thing happens. On a lonely crag on a mountain that belongs to the giants, someone awakens a dragon. It is time for Rune to find the warrior inside himself and prove to the doubters once and for all that he is a true hero.

Awesome Dragon, Even More Awesome Hero
The third section of Beowulf has always been my favorite. It is just so sad and uncertain, yet hopeful at the same time. Like most endings are in life. Plus there's a dragon. There are very few stories that can't be improved by the presence of a dragon. So, I was very excited when this book came out. And I was not disappointed.
This is Rune's story and shows his journey from taunted farm boy to one of the king's men facing a dragon, and then on to a bit more. Through Rune's story the reader gets so much more though. Not the least of which is a very accurate representation of Anglo Saxon life. I have to agree that this aspect did remind me of Rosemary Sutcliff in that the power was in the details. Small things were included that gives the reader a sense of the setting and did not require a lot of description. There is also a lot said about seeking wisdom, governing, war, peace, love, friendship and family. None of this is didactic, it is the story.
The plot is fast paced. The story covers little time. Things with the dragon happen quickly. The story taken from Beowulf ends about two thirds of the way in and the rest of the novel is pure invention and follows the things that occur in the land post dragon. The end is a bit rushed and some of Rune's emotions are startling in how quick they form but it was still concluded well.
Rune is a fascinating main character who comes across as real. I felt everything he was feeling so acutely as I read the book I actually had to double check to see what point of view it was written in before typing this review. It is third but I could have sworn it was first. All of the secondary characters are interesting as well, particularly Beowulf and Amma. There are several strong females in the story and they tell of how important they were to the society they lived in. The most interesting (to me) secondary character wasn't even introduced until 25 pages from the end and even then I thought she was just a plot point. It wasn't until 3 pages from the end that I took notice of her.
