    Title: Hell's Interstate
    Author: C. H. Foertmeyer
    Narrator: Danny Randerson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 47 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-16-15
    Publisher: Charles Foertmeyer
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Horror
    Publisher's Summary:
Thirty-year-old Vern Sanger and 35-year-old Reed Haskell are taking a trip down Hell's Interstate. Where they are going, they have no idea, but they are distributing death and destruction all along their way. With the law on their trail, Vern, an escaped convict, and Reed, a cold-blooded murderer, are living on the proceeds of their ongoing, two-man crime wave. So far, so good, but there are forces at work that Vern cannot even begin to fathom or suspect. It's only a matter of time before Hell's Interstate turns the bend and leads him down a path he certainly never expected to travel. How much time? Too much for all those the two encounter along the way.

Murder, mayhem and mystery in the heartland......
C.H. Foertmeyer excels at creating imaginative plots and developing unique characters. For his tenth book, he delivers murder, miracles, and supernatural happenings in the heartland of America.
The county roads of Kansas cut through peaceful prairies, fertile farmland, and tiny rural communities. In the gently rolling hills along each road, everyone knows their neighbors. Life is safe and predictable, until Reed Haskell and Vern Sanger take their stolen vehicle off the beaten path. Reed is a vicious killer, a murderous animal without heart or conscience. Vern is a prison escapee thrown into Reed's path
by chance. Vern is a lonely man who loves his wife and child and contemplates revenge against the man who wrecked his life. He sticks with Reed through a rampage of robbery, murder, and arson because he dreads to be alone, but Vern is not a killer.
Ed Brinks is a retired NYPD cop who moved his family to Kansas for a more peaceful life. When a gas leak and fire destroy his home, he finds himself drawn deep into a mystery he can't explain. Topeka detective Ray LaCosta investigates and soon both men join forces to reveal incredible happenings. A stranger named Michael appears at every juncture of their investigation, saving lives and providing hints to Reed and
Sanger's whereabouts before fading into thin air. This same man appears to Reed and Sanger with a warning to Vern: "Respect the life."
I don't want to give the plot away. These four men are thrown together, with the mysterious Michael appearing before and after each crime scene. The answers to questions asked by all four men defy logic and come from the distant past to impact
their present and future. DNA and fingerprints provide solutions, but only one small part of the amazing truth.
C.H. Foertmeyer thinks and writes outside the usual genre box. If you are tired of the same old formulaic genres, I recommend you give Hell's Interstate a try.

    Okay read.
Did not like the way the book transitions from chapter to chapter and character to character. The flow was a bit off.

With her soul in the balance, she and the mist-walking sorcerer encounter all manner of damned souls, demons, the living dead, and noble fighters.
A sweeping tale of vengeance and manipulative evil, Angel Steel takes you on an intriguing trip into the dark fantastic.
Bonus Story: An Eldritch Steel tale of Rorc, a barbarian seeking the scourge that walks on two legs. He and his warhorse, Demon, must deal with shape-shifters and unearthly monsters before their journey's mysterious end.
    Critic Reviews:
"In Angel Steel, Chandler again demonstrates his mastery at turning phrases and telling solid, horrific tales.... Randy Chandler is a name to be remembered and read!" (Gregory L. Norris, author of Shrunken Heads: 20 Tiny Tales of Mystery and Terror.)
    Members Reviews:
    Terrific read!
In Angel Steel, Randy Chandler deviates from his usual (horror) genre and enters the realm of fantasy. In this captivating tale, Braga's mother is dying, and she learns that her father is of a different race/tribe, and intends to capture Braga and impregnate her, as he did her mother. Already a fierce warrior, Braga gathers a small entourage and embarks on a quest to preemptively find and kill her father. In her travels, she obtains a heavenly sword called Angel Steel, whose owner must "pour (her) desire into the weapon, and it will do (her) exact bidding."
Broadly, Angel Steel is the battle between heaven and hell. Specifically, it is the devil's game, and the characters his game pieces.
Angel Steel is an epic poem, in prose disguise. Chandler's timbre in this work is so unlike the tone and style of his other works, that it feels like he could have envisioned or dreamed it, and then transcribed it. Expertly employing mythological gods and creatures, along with Biblical characters and demons, Chandler has created a saga spanning thousands of years; yet the book is tight - rich, like a creamy dessert. At the same time, it is peppered with his hallmark use of charming metaphors and alliteration. "...away from the suffocating sameness of celestial existence." and "Her heavy breasts heaved beneath her hard-hide breastplate."
The characters are not only singular, but fascinating. There is Demoriel, the seventh demon, who was cast out of Mary Magdalene, but in the dispelling was necessarily touched by Jesu/Yaweh. He has spent the intervening years trying to communicate with angels, while fighting demons.
My favorite character was Mulroy, a boy killed by ants and owned by Lucifer, whose soul, in a decomposing body, accompanies Braga and her entourage throughout most of their travels. Mulroy is plagued by birds of prey landing on his shoulders to feast on his flesh, but Mulroy's handling of these feathered pests provides the reader with refreshingly fun interludes.
Angel Steel is a terrific read! It moves at a brisk pace, with few places for a break. Recommended for anyone who loves an epic fantasy.
A dark tale about teh gods and the demons!!
We know that in the absence of light, there is only darkness. Angel Steel by Randy Chandler is a dark and mystifying tale about gods and demons and the clashes between heaven and hell.

    Members Reviews:
Will read more of Crissy's stuff in the future...
This was my first Crissy Moss story. I have some good and bad things to say about this short story.
    First, the bad:
It wasn't what I was expecting. The cover seems to suggest that the story would be about a big hairy monster, but that's not entirely true. The ending was sort of a twist and I'm all for twist endings, but the ending just sort of fell apart and didn't make sense to me. It just came out of nowhere. (I won't spoil the details for you) I just feel like there could've been some better foreshadowing to make the ending conclude better. I also caught at least three typos. This story could've been great if it had been edited by a second pair of eyes.
    Now for the good:
There's a dog in this story. I love dogs. The way Crissy describes the dog's actions in this story really put me in those particular scenes. I always enjoy when a story makes me think and there are some great lines in this story that made me think about life and the hard choices we have to make at times. My favorite one contains an expletive so I can't type it out. I also really enjoyed what was at the heart of this story.
All in all it isn't horrible but it isn't breathtaking either. Just a good story to kill some time.
A different kind of ghost story
This creepy story was not your typical scary story. It was suspenseful but the star of the story was not monsters or unknown forces. This story was about a man going to terms with his grief.
    Great Short Story
A fantastic short story, a man deals with the grief, loss, and emptiness after the death of his father. Losing a loved one is never easy, and to have them taken from you for reasons beyond a natural death of old age after living a long life makes it sometimes impossible to accept and heal from. I cannot tell you too much without giving away key points and spoilers to this story. It is a bit supernatural, a lot suspenseful, and well worth the read. I will definitely be getting Crissyâs other short stories, compiled into a book, when my reading list gets a little bit smaller!
    Really Makes You Think
I have read Crissy Moss in the past and I enjoy her supernatural elements and twist endings.
But this story goes to a whole new level. The creature leaving the footprints in the snow is one that we all have the potential to come across in our lives. And there is a lesson to be learned here.
As soon as I read the final lines of this story I sat for a minute and thought about experiences in my own life.
    Creepy
Full disclosure: Crissy Moss and I are in the same writers' group online, so while I will try to remain objective, I thought you should know that.
I've read quite a few of Crissy Moss's stories now and it's safe to say that I'm a fan. What I've always seen in them is a fascinating core story, well written, but hampered by spelling and grammar mistakes. Well, those mistakes are no more.

    Publisher's Summary:
Both of my short horror stories, "Ezekiel Sykes: A Journal of a Daemon" and "Don't Drink Alone", compiled together.
"Ezekiel Sykes: Journal of a Daemon" is a tale of a man who comes into possession of a journal, purportedly written by a demonic agent. Fact or fiction, Caleb, the new owner, becomes obsessed with the book.
"Don't Drink Alone" is a story of a selfish, alcoholic, in-denial murderess who hasn't paid for her crimes... yet.
    Members Reviews:
    terror and beauty combined
Don't Drink Alone is a scathing indictment of narcissism. Scary. As for Ezekiel Sykes, be prepared to hear the hypnotic voice of a demon speaking directly to you. The demon will advise you in his sing-song, eloquent way, that you have free will and therefore can put the book down and walk away from him. But you will not. Trust me. This book has a subliminal power and continues to resonate in a most disturbing way, especially at night. The music of Arvo Part comes closest to approximating this bleak landscape. Bravo to Robbins for creating a world of terror and a strange beauty that I will not forget.
    Superb short stories
This pair of excellent short stories announce an interesting voice in the world of literary fiction. Exploring such themes as murder. daemons and the nature of hell, this dark little vignette is deep and intelligent. The sharply written prose never wastes a word and leaves you wanted more. A quick read but with hidden depths.
