Best of an exciting horror series
Review of THE ACADEMY by Ron Ripley (Moving In #6)
I think this is the best in this wonderful series, along with Book #1, Movin' In. This series relates the ghost-hunting, ghost-capturing, physically dangerous adventures of Brian Roy, a man who can not only see ghosts, but communicate with them. In THE ACADEMY, a senior class prank causes not only damage to the physical plant among the several buildings at the Academy, a historic school in Connecticut, but releases the founder's ghost, a man whose self-centeredness is only surpassed by his will.
Brian will go the depths and suffer terrible danger in this novella, which will engross and entice readers.
... last book in the "Moving In" series since I enjoy these characters so much
I'm hoping this isn't the last book in the "Moving In" series since I enjoy these characters so much. The storyline once again was quite entertaining here and the setting and ghosts were scarier than ever. Such a fun and thrilling read!
    Good book!
Scary and intriguing as part of the series. A whole lot of violence and mayhem in this storyline. Good for a stormy night when you want shivers going up your back. The series is enjoyable and always something unique. Will try the next installment.
    Book 6
Hard to believe that I've read six of these now. Who knew ghosts could cause so much damage to the living. That bad heart continues to beat on, but that body had taken a heck of a lot of abuse. It's the best that he's now supposed top be calling it quits with the ghost hunting. Wonder if Leo took as many butt kickings? Lived the books, Thank You!
    Loved the Moving In series
Enjoyed the Moving In series from start to finish. Characters and story lines were likeable and believable. Recommend the series to anyone who appreciates a good ghost story. I will be reading more of Ron Ripley's books.

A half-century-old curse lies over the small community of Ridgewater ever since Sarah Chase died in a car accident during a teen-angst-driven game of chicken back in 1962. She perished in the back seat of a 1961 Impala, accompanied by a group of boys who called themselves "the big four". She screamed as the car careened through a guardrail and plunged into the icy river water beneath. The four boys survived. Sarah did not.
Teenagers still race and party at the Milvian Bridge where Sarah's car went over, especially on the anniversary of her death, in hopes of catching a glimpse of her unsettled ghost.
But the partying teenagers of Ridgewater don't know that in life Sarah belonged to a group of teenage girls who practiced witchcraft. They don't know that Sarah seeks to use her powers from the grave to avenge her unrequited vendetta. They don't know that Stan Corelis, the driver of the Impala that terrible night, has passed away, freeing Sarah to unleash her anger.

    highly enjoyable!
I really was pleasantly surprised by thus book. great bedtime listening!!! I couldn't shut it off though.
    Ghost Story
An entertaining and a fun read. Shades of The Night Stalker and The Dresden Files.
    DEFINITELY WORTH YOUR TIME!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book; tongue-in-cheek reporter going after something most people shrug off as urban legend and finding the truth behind it. The authors knowledge and portrayal of small rural towns made me feel like I was a local. I was invested in the story from the beginning. The vivid descriptions of the Impala, diner food, Bridgewater locations and Block Vangs witty personal insights made me feel like I was right alongside the main characters. This was the first Craig Nybo book that I have read/listened to and he hit it out of the park. Nybo does a great job reading the book and giving life and imagery to every character. I would enjoy hearing more about the main character as he pursues other adventures. I hope to hear more Block Vang stories by this author.
    A Ghost Story
I enjoyed this ghost story. The plot had plenty of twists and turns and I was surprised by where the story went. The character of Block Vang was interesting and read a lot like a Sam Spade kind of character. The down side to that was that sites the other characters sounded a bit like that too and I didn't like that on teenage boys. Didn't ring true for me. If you are looking for a spooky tale for this Halloween you should give this one a try.
    One of His Best!
This story was honestly one of my favorites by this author. I loved the chilling twists and turns and especially the scene where we first meet our ghoulish antagonist. Overall the story was very well written and read and I would love to hear more of this genre by this author in the future. The ending was my favorite, and you could definitely get a feeling for the author and his experiences through the main character as well!

Once we were all in position, I visually scanned the house at the end of the street. I had to use night vision goggles to get a good feel for the place while everyone else could use their regular eyes. Once I had the lay of the land, I probed around the back of the house where I couldn't see. There was one lowly guard out there. The guard began to make his way back to the front of the house, leaving the back completely unguarded. That's when I sent the signal for all teams to move in.

    Volume 3
What did you love best about Deep in the Night?
Book 3 in the Alexander Ranch Matter series. The folks at the ranch investigate issues involving those who can "drain" life energy from "normals" and turn it into a crime. The main character Lela is a novice psychic who helps them solve their cases. A well written paranormal mystery with a dose of romance on the side.
    Keeps Getting Better!
The Alexander Ranch series just keeps getting better with each book and this, the third book in the series is my favorite so far! Lela and the Alexanders are on the hunt for a serial killer, maybe two! Its definitely a great mystery story with a lot of suspense added and its not just the thrill of tracking down the killer, but also watching, with fascination the burgeoning romance developing between Lela and Jordan.
I must admit, Ive had to warm up to the cautious and standoffish way Lela is in her relationship with Jordan. They definitely have chemistry, but the thing about Lela is, she refuses to be ruled by emotion or physical compatibility. Poor Jordan, will he ever learn that Lela is like a porcupine and when you get her riled up youre gonna be gingerly removing those quills, that are inevitably coming your way! Lets just say that both Lela and Jordan have some serious issues to work on, Im rooting for them.
JC Brazil is the narrator of this audiobook and Im always a little hesitant when I see that the author changes narrators in the middle of a series. My worry was unfounded, JC Brazil did a fantastic job, her pacing was perfect and the time just flew by listening to this audiobook, that is just under six hours in length. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this narrator. The audio production quality was clear and free of errors.
I look forward to the release of the fourth book in the series.

The Alexanders are Back to Solve Another Mystery
    Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. The Alexander Ranch Series books just keep getting better and better. Same characters, new PNR mystery. Even though I have listened to the previous two audiobooks in this series, which was narrated by a different narrator, this story was written so that it can be a stand-alone or continuation in the series. The author provides enough of characters back stories that you don't have to read/listen to the first two books and can start with this one.

    Crafty and creative thinking!
I love this series, and I have to tell you, it's like when someone writes a serial for a magazine...you look forward to the next issue because you want to see what the characters are doing, where they're going, and you find yourself becoming a bit of a stalker for the words. Bob does a wonderful job telling stories. This is proof of that.
Russ, Mary and Wes are at it again at the behest of their captain's brother-in-law. This keeps the peace in the captain's household, which keeps the peace at work for all of them. Can you imagine if they told him no, they had enough to do already? It would never fly.
This historical asylum haunting is a challenge for Wes, especially. The deaths of people with mental issues adds a new dimension to the entire concept. In one case toward the end, the ghost wanted to stay and haunt people, no matter what. This was a challenge all by itself, let alone the prospect of a serial killer in the midst of it all.
There are intricacies and plot twists galore, and the prospect of their first serial killer makes the story all the more interesting. I can't wait to see what Bob thinks of next! 5 stars. Good, good story.
    Well done!
The fifth book in Bob Moats' âGhost Squadâ series is a trip with Detroit Police Detective Russ Baker, his mortal partner Detective Mary Cohen, and Ghost Detective First Class Wesley Loomis as they leave the confines of Metro Detroit for a trek up north to Traverse City. Efforts to renovate an abandon mental hospital are being hampered by spirits that cannot yet rest and Baker and his unique paranormal crime solving team are asked to investigate. For those who like who-done-its, the paranormal, and a sprinkling of humor, this series is a fast paced excursion into the minds and motives of police detectives, criminals, and ghosts alike. Well done.
    Love these installments.
I have read almost all the books in the Ghost Squad episodes, and have enjoyed them immensely. Fun, great writing, and for once have a ghost helper. I recommend these books for anyone that loves ghosts, but are sick of reading about the spirits that are always abusing some poor victim. Lots of fun with a touch of seriousness. Cool!!
Ghost Squad 5 Another Fun Quest to find the killers
An invisible thread connects the Ghost Squad Books at the end of one the thread will lead you into the next.Such an enjoyable book with Russ,Mary and Wes. Bob Moats weaves words of wonder and imagination and works Amazing simple words into An Amazing Wonderful Book.

    Ghosts for Christmas
A wonderfully spooky tale from early in Reverend Paltoquet's ministry. As with Miss Herbert's previous book, this is an occult mystery, emphasis on occult. The vicar's investigation does involve a crime, but his real concern is for souls, much like his literary colleague Father Brown. The difference is that for Reverend Paltoquet the evil is more otherworldly than physical.
    Quirky fun read
This is the second book in the series, and I chose to read the books out of order, but they are as charming and delightful as one could imagine. The entire time I read the book I had a smirk on my face. To read the last book first and to jump to the second was incredibly rewarding in many ways! Pick up this book. You won't be disappointed.

    Slaughter Series Book 3
    Any additional comments?
I very much enjoyed this horror series by A.I. Nasser. Narration by Jake Urry was fantastic, as always. While the first book in the series was definitely my favorite, the third book brought the series to a satisfying conclusion and was well worth the listen. I will definitely miss these characters and will look forward to Nasser (hopefully) giving us a fourth book in the series sometime in the future!
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
I have a love/hate relationship with this book
Would you consider the audio edition of Copper's Keeper to be better than the print version?
Yes, having all the different voices makes it much better then reading the print version. Horror is a genre in general that I prefer in audio.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It wasn't this way until the very end, but Alan most definitely. He makes a decision that shows a level of selflessness and courage that many others cannot match, and does it with very little thought.
What does Jake Urry bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Jake Urry is by far one of the bests horror narrators I have come across. His voice beings a level of intensity and dread that really brings the creepiness of the book to life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Sadness and respect. I know that these are just characters in a book, but when you get into books as much as I do the characters do take on a life of their own and I felt great respect and sadness at the end of this book.
    Any additional comments?
I received this book free from the narrator via audiobookboom for an unbiased review.
Is This Really the End ?
Sad to come to the end of this series. But I am not sure it really is the end. What about Alan and the children? I must say..... the ending has left me thinking there are possibilities for continuing the story line.
Be sure to Complete this book as there are proposed/supposed situations re: the lady in red. I must admit that I never would have thought of them. Could they be hinting at a new series?
Mr. Urry's narration is spot on. His talented voice/ inflection lends itself quite well to this genre adding color and suspense to an already suspenseful book.
This audiobook has been gifted to me in exchange for my honest review.
    Sorry to see it end...
Copper's Keeper is the third and final installment in the Slaughter series and I hope that A.I.Nasser one day changes his mind and continues the series, because that's actually possible after listening to the bonus scenes at the end of the book.

    Critic Reviews:
"Reed has a wonderful way with descriptions, and much of his book is just fun-to-read silliness, especially the parts featuring ogres and minotaurs. Before ogre Maury's ukulele performance, he asks the crowd, "What do you call a minotaur with no legs? Ground Beef!" More levity, mystery and fantasy are in store; this is only the first of the Vellian Mysteries trilogy." (Kirkus Reviews)
    Members Reviews:
One of the most enjoyable reads over the last year
I would have to say that this is one of the most enjoyable books that Iâve read over the last year. You will find a mix of fantasy and reality. The main character of the story is Garett Willigins and his crew of helpers. P.C. the robot who is a champion in the ring whose nickname is the Germinator. Garettâs sidekick the dragon Merle helps him to solve the mystery. The story is about Garratt becoming a new P.I. and solving the case involving a multitude of characters. The pair of minotaurs Frank and Hector, Detective Archie Honi, B.S., Rowgar and his crew, Jack, and Mr. Daniel Kline. There are other fantasy characters such as griffons, and an ogre.
The plot was easy to follow and there were some twists and turns for sure. Humor galore as Maury the ogre comedian is a great entertainer. Well written and a very enjoyable read. Look forward to reading more by this author. Keep the series coming Mr. Reed.
This mystery was a fun read. You will surely enjoy. I am sure it will become a classic in years to come.
    Snorting fish.
I find the idea of a PI becoming a mob boss's lackey funny for some reason, especially in the case of this book. While the fight between two countries threatens to destroy the world around him, Garrett still has to deal with fish and unruly clients day in and day out - its enough to make you want to stay home.
A fast-paced and engaging plot, much better than Shadow of the Makarios, keeps the reader going, even as you feel that it's 130am and you kind of have to go to bed for work tomorrow.
World building is top notch again, I think some of the character are hilarious (alas, a few felt a bit flat), and wit coming out the wazoo. Go on, take a read. You'll like it too.
Totally Unique, Fantasy Suspense With a Humerous Twist
This totally unique book is a once-in-a-lifetime read. You truly will never find another tale quite like Welcome to Deep Cove. This story follows the life of Garret Willigins, an early thirty-year-old with a dragon partner (Merle). Garret has finally earned his place as a private investigator, but still needs help paying bills. This gangster landlord doesn't make paying late rent easy, and Garret ends up taking an array of jobs to meet ends meet.

Wonderful World Building and Compelling Listening
I so enjoyed the Curse Of The Alpha series that I though this series might not be as good. I was wrong! This book starts where the last series ended but we are now being taken in a whole new direction. Eric has suffered a devastating blow he has lost his wolf, it's gone! He was attacked whilst saving Ainslee, his Alpha and his Mate, from a magical attack. To make matters worse Julian a magic expert thinks there is no way for him to get his wolf back.
The wolf council have sent a representative to see if Ainslee is up to the job of Alpha, and Eric is being sent to another pack to help out after a mining accident where most of the male wolves have been killed.
The town of Tarkers Hollow is now under some sort of attack, the incredible world building skills of Tasha Black and the wonderful narrative from Addison Spear bring everything to life. All the characters from the previous series are still here but there are some new ones too.
Grace the town's new sheriff is trying to solve an attack and a disappearance whilst Julian is trying to teach Ainslee how to use her new found magic as something ominous is coming to Tarkers Hollow and she is going to need it to protect herself and her pack. Oh and the ending well let's just say I didn't see it coming. I now can't wait to listen to the next book in this incredible series.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author without any obligation to review.
Love this book!!! Tarker's Hollow is GREAT !!
This book picks up right where the last one ends. Eric has lost his wolf while protecting his Alpha mate, Ainslee Connor, during a magical attack and resident magic expert says that there is no way to reverse the damage. The Council has sent in a representative to judge whether Ainslee is capable of ruling her pack and the female representative has taken a liking to Eric. She wants Eric to go visit and help a pack that has recently suffered a mining accident and lost many of their males. Hidden agendas, a missing person and mysterious happenings abound in this book. The world building in this series is phenomenal and Ms. Black has done a wonderful job in the development of the characters and storyline. Loved this book and am looking forward to the next book to see where the story and characters are going. I am voluntarily reviewing this audiobook without compensation. A great addition to any audio library.
    Heartbreaking and lovely
Erik and Ainsley have captured my attention once again in this new series.

This last audiobook in the REN series does not disappoint, the evolution of the characters, the humour, heartbreak, intrigue and suspense will not let you put this captivating audiobook down. Not only does Ren have to navigates the turbulent waters of becoming both a father and a grandfather, but he must also discover the mole within the Lucidite Institute and defeat the brilliant Vivian before her plans, for both him and the middlings, come to fruition. The excellent narrator breaths life into these amazing characters and he hits the accents, nuances and emotions just right. This is a heart wrenching, hair pulling, breath taking, beautiful end to the series. The twists and turns in the the plot, the growth and change in the characters, and the roller coaster of emotions the author and narrator takes us on is simply amazing. From Ren himself, to Adelaide, Dalia and even Vivian, the maturation and depth of character shown is excellent and yet the author and narrator still managed to keep their individual quirks and personalities intact throughout the evolution. I loved how characters from her other books were interweaved in the story, not only enhancing the story but also adding depth to the Dream Traveller world as a whole and helping the reader form a cohesive timeline between the various books. I am sad that this is the final REN book, as I have truly enjoyed this amazing character. His caustic wit, arrogance, dry sarcastic comments, brilliant mind and flawed personality has kept us laughing, made us want to strangle him, but has also caused our hearts to bleed. Tim Campbell did an amazing job with Ren's accent and portrayal of his abrasive, yet appealing personality. The amount of emotion that this character has been able to elicit from readers is a testament to how well written these books are and how fully developed this character is. We will mourn that we will no longer hear that snarky British accent as we get to listen to Sarah's words. This audiobook was provided to me at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
    Fantastic ending!
Ren's new found daughter Adelaide is with child, HOLY COW! Still working on how his daughter will fit into his life, Ren is blindly slapped with the news that his accident is having an accident.

Six months have passed since Alan Carter woke up from the coma Copper Tibet had put him in, and much has changed in Melington. A new chairman, a power-hungry sheriff, a spineless son who struggles with the absence of his father. And children still going missing while the monster taking them roams free and unrestrained.
In the small town of secrets, what had once been hidden is now slowly coming to light, and few rest easy, including Alan Carter. He is plagued by nightmares. The visions haunt him the minute he closes his eyes, and his dreams are clad with images of darkness, corridors lined with doors, and a woman in red who tells him he can never leave.
And somewhere in the distance, Alan's sister calls for him, begging him to save her and to take her home.

    Slaughter Series, Book 2
Didn't catch that this was book 2 when I ordered it and would have enjoyed this much more having the back story from book 1. This book does have a beginning and end, unlike some other, series, but it isn't a great stand alone book because I was confused for the first half. There was a lot explained from book 1 but it was like trying to understand a previous tv episode from the "previously on Shadow's Embrace." That being said the narrator did a fantastic job, he has the perfect voice for horror books. The story was good and very well written. Overall I expect the series, read in order, will be fantastic and look forward to other A.I. Nassar and Jake Urry books. Now to find book 1.

    Slaughter Series Book 2
    Any additional comments?
A continuation of book 1, Shadow's Embrace picks up where we left off and kicks the story into high gear. If you liked book 1, you'll enjoy book 2! Jake Urry is endlessly fantastic at narration.

    Great Continuation!
This story is a great continuation in the Slaughter Series by A.I. Nasser. Learning more about the sacrifices made by "The Council", though none from their own families, unveils more of the corruption that has existed in this town for years.
While Alan has been in a coma, new members of the council step up to fill vacant positions and continue with the cover up and sacrifices to keep Copper at bay. But the families of those sacrificed have had enough and are determined to fight back and unravel everything. Alan Carter however, is not the same after he wakes up...something still has a hold on him...or is he losing his mind?
Jake Urry's narration is superbly executed throughout the book and his somewhat hypnotic voice helps to keep you enthralled. Well Done!
Looking forward to the final book in this series.
I received this audiobook for free in return for my honest review.
    It began with a Carter...
The story of book 1 - Children to the Slaughter - continues in book 2, so this book is not a standalone!
In book 2 we are getting answers to the questions and mystery from book 1. It starts very calm with revealing more of the secrets and the conspiracy of the founding families in Mellington. The story line continues 6 months later, but keeps going 6 months back in time.
