Supernatural/Scary

Can you imagine rain as a scary character? Well, I couldn't until I read Rain.

Rain is an evil supernatural character which can take shapes of those around it. How can a person fight such a amorphous beast? You'll be amazed when you find out how John March and his surprising cohorts fight the rain.

I definitely recommend Rain.

This is the second book I've read by Craig Saunders and he continues to impress and amaze me with his originality. RAIN is a modern myth. It's suspensful, horrifying and satisfying all in one engrossing novel.

Highly recommended.

Great Book

Very well-written. Very similar style to Neil Gaiman although this writer is formidable in his own right.

Very interesting and unique story line.

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!!!

John March is dealing with life, doing okay with it. He owns a small fraught shop and has a few friends like Mr. Hill. However, his passing leaves Mr. March with a rather large and strange inheritance. Then it rains and the dying begins. The rain has an entity. This entity wants John's wife.

I love the rain. It is soothing, calming and perfect for a nap. This story scared me. No more rain time naps. I will always be looking for the man in the rain. Mr. Saunders has taken the rain and made it into something petrifying! The rain to me is meant to relax and now it's turned into pure horror. Thank you. This was an ultimate spine-chilling READ!

Supernatural Mystery for Harry Dresden Fans

Mike Durans Reagan Moon series narrated by Randy Streu are the best supernatural mystery combination since Jim Butchers Harry Dresden series narrated by James Marsters.

The Ghost Box is a solid introduction to questionable tabloid reporter, Reagan Moon who investigates ghostly activities and faces demons both real and personal ones.

A solid mystery with a fun (and funny) hero.

Fantasy and Science Fiction at breakneck speed

The narration carried this book. The detailed F/SF descriptions were superfluous for me, but the narrator made each character come alive and easy to keep track of, and there were a lot of characters. Fast moving action at the climax left me thinking I might like to see what happens in the next novel in the series.

AWESOME! VERY WELL WRITTEN AND NARRATED

Enjoyable. Reason Moon is a paranormal journalist who is a cynic and doesn't believe in the supernatural, Now he has become the seventh guardian of earth. Very fast moving and the dialogue was well written very witty and the protagonist is a very interesting character. The narrator, Randy Streu is new to me and I find he is excellent. I hope future books in this series will continue to have Randy Streu as the narrator. Worth a credit.

Great spiritual mystery noir

Mike Duran strikes a perfect tone with The Ghost Box. Right from the first words, it has such a great feel of old school noir/hard boiled private eye stories, but mixed with spiritual thriller. I was worried it might be too scary but again it's a perfect balance of thriller-esque but not too dark. The narrator is a bit inconsistent and there were some editing issues, but the strength of the story overcomes any of those. All the pieces come together in the end, and Reagan Moon is fantastic main character.

Interesting concept

Having previously read the sequel to this book, it was nice to go back and figure out what started it all. Randy Streu is a great choice for Reagan Moon's voice--just the right blend of cynicism and snark. Enjoyed the production and will likely listen again--and pick up the next books in the series on Audible as well.

What made the experience of listening to Deadlocked the most enjoyable?

I read the book and greatly enjoyed it so I knew I would love the listening experience as well...assuming the reader did a good job. She is awesome! I will keep listening and hoping that book 4 is picked up - come on Tantor!

I don't *do* children oriented fiction generally. Actually, I avoid such stories. Not. My. Thing. However, from the beginning I enjoyed this listen. The writing is superb and draws you in...even if you don't want to be drawn. Bravo, Mr. McIlveen for leading me outside my literary comfort zone!

Exceptionally well written

John did a fantastic job with this book. The writing is exceptional. The story is great with a few cute surprises written in. The narrator is perfect. Had a hard time putting it down. The ending is great, weaves in so many stories we all heard as kids, with a great twist. I hope to see more books from John soon!!

Charming

this is a cute and charming book. It is number 6 in the series and the first one i have read. I look forward going back and reading the first 5 books. It has magic, mystery and murder. A fairy god animal, a cat named Mr. Prince Charming. The main character is June Heal. She owns a potion shop in town. She gets framed for murder and it is on to find out who did it and is framing her. Will she clear name? It was a great book/ I received this book free for an honest review.

Charming mystery

I received this audiobook for free and am freely volunteering this review. Most enjoyable story with lots of events and characters and romance and mystery too. Very entertaining! Will definitely be reading more in this series.

This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Magical Cures Mystery series written by Tonya Kappes and narrated by Karen Savage. The narrator Karen Savage did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didnt want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Ghostly Good

If you could sum up Hearts Unloched in three words, what would they be?

Career, Murder, Horses

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, the scenes with the ghost were a bit scary and I was concerned for the characters. I think the ghosts appearances where a bit unnecessary later in the story. The characters already knew what to do but the ghost continued to appear. I felt the ghost was overly creepy, she was able to speak to people so why all the eerie theatrics, it all kept me feeling uneasy in a good and bad way.

Loved It!

Hearts Unloched is a great story from beginning to end. Claire Gem really brings her characters to life. This story has romance, intrigue, suspense and is packed full of emotions. The setting comes to life, I really felt like I was there.

DNF@25%..

When a heroine sounds just like the hero I can't read the book. It was like listening to two men all the time. And the 25% was sooo boring. If it had been a novella I might have been able to listen to the whole thing but it's 320 pages so I have to stop. Besides they only met a few hours ago and have already had sex and they are both talking about heart-feelings so it looks and sounds like insta-love.

Joshua Saulter really needs to do something about his women's voices. You can tell he doesn't even try to sound the least bit feminine.

More Trouble

This is book number 5. I have really enjoyed this series. Even though this book is a continuation for the same mission and does not end in this book either, it is a great story. It is full of action, humor and surprises. From the ancient Eygpt to the wild west, After leaving Eygptian time Jonathan and Kelly go the 1870's to meet up with Brand and esther. However, as usual there is always trouble. I recommend this book and this series. It reminds me a lot the the Dresden books.. I love the narrator. He really brings the characters to life. I received the audio book free from the narrator for an honest review.

Awesome Actiony Goodness

Apparently the book before this left in a cliff hanger, but I've never read that story before... Yes it was a bit confusing at first to understand what was going on, but by the time I'd thought about possibly not finishing the story it was already sounding so good I couldn't stop. This story was great. There were sad moments, happy moments, and plenty of actiony goodness. Joe Hempel did a wonderful job narrating and this story has made it to where I have to find and read the first 4 stories.

Another Great Jonathan Shade Sequel

Engaging characters, out of the ordinary plot, this book has the group come from Ancient Egypt in the last book, through the Old West, to San Francisco. All scenerios of interest to me

Joe Hempel continues to be the voice of Jonathan and crew. I'm so glad he returns with each novel. He is the voice of Jonathan for me and he voices Jonathan's dry humor in a sense that I know and enjoy. Joe does do slight changes in his voice, tone, and personality for different characters. When he speaks as Kelly he has a slight accent and determination to his voice

In the phenomenal delivery I've come to expect, this book kept my pulse racing, and my loyalties divided! This is sort of a miniseries within a series, in which books four through six are part of the bigger series, but you must have them all for some closure. Already a fan of the narrator, I started this series because I liked his other stuff.

Love these installments!

For once, it is refreshing to read abouts ghosts that are helpful. Not always maiming or attacking victims. This is good read and will continue to read about the ghost named Wes and how, with his human police friends go about getting hard evidence from cold case files, to help spirits move on. Recommended!!!

Another Winner

The invisible thread once again weaves its way into the next Ghost Squad. I enjoy how one continues into the next. It leaves me wondering why Mary will not talk about Marriage, telling him when the time is right they will talk. Poor Wes, he is so amazingly Sweet to both the Living and the Dead. But packs a Hateful Punch to those who committed the crimes.Maybe The Book Man can reward him with his life back.

A nice quick read

Each of these novellas can be read in a little more than an hour. I'm looking forward to Bob's next full length book.

I find these such an interesting and compassionate read that I cannot put down! Thx again to Bob Moats for doing it again!

Even in the Afterlife there is need for an Interpreter.

Ghost Squad is fast becoming one of my favorite series by Bob Moats. Even though each book is connected to the previous one, you really don't have to read them all to get into the swing of things as Bob gives a short synopsis in the beginning of each new story and you pick up the general premise very quickly.

In this adventure our Ghost Squad, Russ, Mary and Wes, is given the task of finding the murderer of an engaged couple and the one big hang up is the Bride ghost doesn't understand or speak English and the Groom ghost doesn't speak her language, so there's no way for them to communicate with each other or for her to help the Squad. Russ and Mary have to figure out a way to find an Interpreter and not raise suspicions and once found - how will they get him to interpret for a Ghost? As always Wes comes to the rescue with the Permission of the Book Man and they find a way.

While investigating the engaged couple's murders, Russ and Mary find out that there had been another murder at the same location and this Ghost was able to give them a few details about her killer, not much to go on but it helped and our Cold Case Trio are able to track down the killer. In the end he is brought to Justice, but not in the expected way.

Once again Bob Moats leaves us wanting more and I know he won't disappoint in the next Ghost Squad mystery.
