    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 52 mins

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
A growing movement of young people is rebelling against the low expectations of today's culture by choosing to "do hard things" for the glory of God. And Alex and Brett Harris are leading the charge. Do Hard Things is the Harris twins' revolutionary message in its purest and most compelling form, giving readers a tangible glimpse of what is possible for teens who actively resist cultural lies that limit their potential.
Combating the idea of adolescence as a vacation from responsibility, the authors weave together biblical insights, history, and modern examples to redefine the teen years as the launching pad of life. Then they map out five powerful ways teens can respond for personal and social change.
Written by teens for teens, Do Hard Things is packed with humorous personal anecdotes, practical examples, and stories of real-life "rebelutionaries" in action. This rallying cry from the heart of an already happening teen revolution challenges a generation to lay claim to a brighter future, starting today.
    Critic Reviews:
"Alex and Brett Harris are two extraordinary young men with a revolutionary message. In a culture where laziness and ease is often the order of the day for teenagers, Do Hard Things presents a radical and provocative alternative. I heartily recommend this book." (R. Albert Mohler, Jr., president, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary)

Thank God for these Young Men!
Alex and Brett are a God send to the young people of our society! Every young person should at least read this book to know that there is a alternative lifestyle to that which is portrayed on TV, movies, and the Internet. This book is proof that there is Great hope for the world in which we live. Thank you Alex and Brett for your courage and strength in God!!
    Inspirational
I enjoyed this book because it made me want to do something about what I believe in.
A must read. Teen or not.
An essential teen challenge and no less important for any parent to read. Don't pass it up.
    =D
Probably and most definitely of the best/most beneficial books anyone could read or listen too.
    Even better the second time
I read do hard things before with my youth group when I was 20. It was very good then but listening to it 5 years later is even better. As a 25 year I got more out of this than half of my teens in youth group. But I think that's okay. I think even as a young adult I can still rebel against low expectations.
You won't be disappointed in getting this book! :D

My second favorite version of this classic
    Any additional comments?
I have purchased five different versions of this classic masterpiece, in audio or Audible formats, trying to find a version I really like.\
My favorite version (Logos Educational Edition, Bill Creasy) is narrated by Don Ranson, who sounds like an old, wise gentleman with wisdom and maturity, with a deeper voice, and no distracting accent. It also feels like he is personally familiar with the text, and is probably himself a strong believer in God and Christ. (I did not get that feeling with all narrators.)
The Don Ranson version also contains fewer archaic English words & phrases (For example something like, 'Whatever thou willest, giveth that thy will be mine and me for thine, for thou art....' That type of KJV Shakesperian language, which is in the David Cochran Heath version. I couldn't listen to the Joe McClane version long enough to know.)
This one with narrator Bob Souer is my second-favorite. The reader sounds older and more respectful than the other three below, and he has a deeper, more impacting voice.
The narration by Joe McClane is my least favorite of the five. But maybe another listener who loves thick Irish accents will enjoy it.
The other version I don't like is narrated by David Cochran Heath, with a U.S. Southern accent, and a very light-hearted & cheerful tone like "everything's fine and I'm super-positive & happy." To me, this tone does not match the deep, introspective subject matter (and probably not the mindset of the 13th century monks who were the source of these meditations & prayers.)
The other version I tried is narrated by Sean Runnette (translated by William Benham). It seems average to me, neither great nor irritating.
I am still keeping an eye out for a completely modern version with no outdated language, which nobody actually uses in everyday conversations. The archaic terms are off-putting to most new believers and non-believers, and can be confusing or misleading. There is simply no need to keep speaking biblical scripture in Shakespearean English, just because the King James Version made it popular to do so, hundreds of years ago. Christ did not speak English at all, so any version in English is a translation; then why create a translation based on a version of the reader's language that is hundreds of years outdated? Christ did not speak to his disciples and followers in a form of Aramaic that was hundreds of years outdated - he spoke to them in the very language of that day and year when he was there.
    Beautiful Read
Excellent narration. I have listened to it over and over absorbing the beautiful words of Christ.
    Know the human heart.
Insightful read. The old master doesn't disappoint. I never tire of this wonderful book. Cheers.
    Amazing but not for all
The author's insight into pressing on in Christ is phenomenal and I've gone through the book several times and will go through it again and again.

The years since have confirmed Lindsey's insights into what biblical prophecy says about the times we live in: the rebirth of Israel, the threat of war in the Middle East, an increase in natural catastrophes, the revival of Satanism and witchcraft. These and other signs, foreseen by prophets from Moses to Jesus, portend the coming of an antichrist, of a war which will bring humanity to the brink of destruction, and of incredible deliverance for a desperate, dying planet.

    Prophecy made Easy
Well i first read this book over 30 years ago. It is a great read and very easy to understand. The original bible prophecy book that spawned all others. If you want to know what the bible says about the future and how it could effect your life this is the book.
Critical stuff to understand the world today
Having heard about this book most of my life, I've vowed to read it but never got around to it. Thankfully it showed up as an audible selection and I'm so grateful for that! Now I know why this book is considered a must read, having been written in 1970 and yet it fortells of events that are happening 50 years later. Amazing! There is most definitely a bit of religious bias that I could split hairs over, but I can admire the work whole heartedly and even call it divinely inspired without hesitation. The narrator is clear and easy on the ears. He has a scholarly tone that is well-suited to the subject matter.
Clear and Present / Future Danger
Insightful, more relavent today and as time goes on! Biblical predictions explained and how world events are falling into place or may unfold in the future. A Thought-Worthy listen!
    amazingly accurate for 2017.
This book was written in 1970. I can see today in 2017 where all these things are coming to pass with startling accuracy. The summarization of the Final Chapter gave me chills.
Read It You Will Be Glad You Did
The Handwriting is on the wall and The Late Great Planet Earth has made it abundantly clear.

    Publisher's Summary:
Dr. Henry Cloud brings his insights as both a psychologist and a student of spiritual life to the eternal principles that govern listeners' goals, desires, relationships, and lives. These same truths, if activated in people's lives, are guaranteed to fill them with security, hope, and relationship with the eternal Creator. Cloud also reveals how these truths, found in Judeo-Christian teachings, intersect and interface with the spiritual longings expressed in the principles found in The Secret and similar works. Recognizing and applauding the search for truth and a connection with a power beyond the human, Cloud leads listeners into relationship with a God who loves them and has given all to save them.
Many Christians have believed in God all their lives and claim Jesus as their Savior, but continue to live a joyless, defeated life. They are no better able to weather the inevitable pains of life than those who claim no faith at all. The secret to true joy, inner peace, sustaining hope, powerful purpose, and more is locked in their minds but has not been activated in their hearts and lives. The Secret Things of God reveals 20 profoundly simple secrets and gently guides listeners in how to unlock and activate the power of these truths.
The title is based on 1 Corinthians 4:1-2: "Regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful."

Anything Cloud and Townsend write is good
Anything these guys write is good. It just is. They research their topics well and give practical advice. It's not the classic that "Boundaries" is, but it's a worthwhile comment to "The Secret"...much clearer spiritually. It is Christian perspective, so if you're hoping for a New Age experience, that it is not.
    Super helpful for growth!
I loved this book! Dr. Cloud explains the laws of God in very simple terms.
    Excellent insight and practical wisdom
I cannot recommend this book highly enough! I found it to be exceptionally insightful and helpful for every day life, relationship challenges and to discover and fulfill your God-given purpose. Dr. Cloud shows a very supportive and caring God and how much he is totally for you. I love this book!
    Great listen
I really could relate to what he was saying. I really liked the things that he had to say. If you have read or listened to the secret this is a great christian version.
Full of great truths and wisdom!
It freed my mind and heart in many ways! It had a lot of practical advice and encouraging truths! Great book!

    A Re-awakening.
I have real questions for a real faith. I believe this books is a valiant effort to balance the bias that the media and liberal education flood us with. I also believe it is unfortunate that the students of Dr. Ehrman (whom the book references) consider his apologetics as the final word on the mnatter. I also applaud The Teaching Company for including professors such as Dr. Johnson in their courses to balance the bias. It is clear that many esteemed "intellectuals" such as Dr. Ehrman have an ax to grind. I thus applaud Lee Strobel for presenting an objective as possible approach to serious matters of faith. Ivory Tower intellectuals do not have all of the answers and they know it.
    True Scholarship
In his book "The Case for the Real Jesus", Lee Strobel does an excellent job of refuting current arguments against Jesus and the gospel. He accomplishes this difficult task through science, research, and scholarly examination of hard evidence. An excellent read; easy to understand and entertaining.
    Well Researched! Well Written!
Lee Strobel uses the skills he learned as an investigative journalist to research and investigate the varying claims about who Jesus was and who He wasn't.
Was Jesus the Son of God? Was he just a wise man? Was he something else altogether? Read this great book to find out!
    Solid
Would you listen to The Case for the Real Jesus again? Why?
This is an excellent treatment of the historical evidence, logical implications and conclusions coming from it. The only real way to overcome this carefully presented arguement is to successfully dispute the facts upon which it is constructed. Because the facts are beyond dispute and accepted even by critics of the conclusion, it is hard to see how you can reach any other conclusions than Stroble presents.
Strobel's intellectual honesty and willingness to admit his sketicism at first blush at some responses to his questions, only adds to the strength of the arguments. He often does not take even the third and fourth answers without question. This is a thorough job that demonstrates that Strobel has thought through his subject long before the interviews. He does not let his interviewees off lightly! But he does not adopt an antagonistic tone.
The objection some will raise is that Strobel didn't scream and rant at his interviewees. He treated them respectfully. This will be construed as being soft on the arguements. Obviously Strobel has presuppostions, so he is not going to make a fool of himself by adopting a belligerent approach, just to prove his so called objectivity. But then EVERYONE begins with presuppositions, even skeptics, and skeptics would hardly disqualify themselves on that premise!
All in all this is a good job. I only wish journalists today were as thorough and thoughtful as this when they are covering politics.

    Can't wait for Heaven
As an evangelical Christian for over 40 years, I am embarrased to say that my understanding of Heaven was limited and dare I say, somewhat boring. This book "Heaven" has shaken all of my pre-conceived notions out of my system. I loved this book! Biblically sound and exciting with new ideas of what Heaven will be like. A must read for anyone wondering about, or even dreading Heaven.
    Insightful
This book contains many chapters and many references. It definitely challenged my concept of Heaven and provided a new perspective. It is supported with many references, which are hard to remember in audio format. The book seemed to repeat some of the same information toward the end. Overall, I'm glad I bought it though.
    What a wonderful surprise!
I am so leary of reading "mans" perspective of heaven. Having said that, this is not a man's perspective on heaven, but a collection of scriptures answering the questions believers and unbelievers have about eternal life. Even as a Bible student, I had not knitted all of these scriptures together like Mr. Alcorn has done for his audience. "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn is nothing less than a book of hope and great anticipation those in Christ! Highly recommended.
    Very encouraging
For all the talk about Heaven being the eternal home of believers in Christ, very little is talked about. Randy Alcorn's HEAVEN spends several chapters building a Theological Doctrine of Heaven, and then the fun part comes when he begins to share the implications of that theology. Very encouraging and certainly something to look forward to, rather than dread! Highly recommended reading.
Set your eyes on things above...
More than any other book, this book has made me look forward to heaven. We often think, and hear, that the Bible has little to say about heaven. We have notions that in heaven that we won't remember anything from our current life, won't have bodies, will do nothing but sing, won't know who we are or who we were, etc. After reading this book, I realize how unimportant this short life that we are now experiencing is (except for letting God use it), and how the unfairness, and the disappointments of earth will be gone and healed forever. I could go on, but you really need to read the book. If we are planning on spending eternity somewher, it sure makes sense to learn about it.

    Publisher's Summary:
Following the structure of his 1.2 million-copy-selling Celebration of Discipline, Prayer explores three spiritual "movements" of prayer: inward, upward, and outward. Within each movement he looks at seven different types of prayer, for a total exploration of 21 separate forms of prayer.
Coming to prayer is like coming home, Foster says: "Nothing feels more right, more like what we are created to be and to do." This accessible, rich, and reliable guide shows how each of the various forms of prayer can move us inward into personal transformation, upward toward intimacy with God, and outward to minister to others.
    Critic Reviews:

    Members Reviews:
    Great Introduction to Prayer
This was a great introduction to prayer. I have been reading through a bunch of books on prayer for a personal research project and this was the best introduction to methods on prayer that I have found. It is full of actual experience in prayer and not just theory. It took me a little while to get through it because I would have to stop and think about what he was writing for a while and come back to it. Highly recommend
    Lots of info
I have listened to this audio book twice. There is so much information I tended to get lost. Maybe I'll get a notepad on the 3rd time.
    Excellent study on prayer
This is the second book I've read by Foster - Celebration of Discipline was the other - very good books - both. I also appreciate the references throughout. I will be using both books for a while. Though I've read them multiple times now, I will be using them for regular reference until I'm well familiar with the practices that are described. For example there are three sections in the book about prayer. Inward prayer, upward prayer and outward prayer. Each has 7 kinds of prayer that go in respective categories. I want to recall and describe each one. I know half of them without looking. Means there is still more to learn.

    He does it again!
Every Billy Graham book I have read leaves me with something to think about. He covers every conceivable life event in this book. It starts off with information for seekers. It ends with suggestions for the mature. It is a book written to Christians. It made me think about my journey through life.
    The Journey by Billy Graham
Wonderful--explains what happens or what happened at and beyond the spiritual rebirth.
    The Journey is Amazing
What made the experience of listening to The Journey the most enjoyable?
It's told in such a way that I feel like I'm right there listening to Billy Graham, even though it's not his voice. His insight for this journey that we are all on, made me take another look at my own.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Billy Graham of course. He helps you to see that God loves you in such a way that you just never even thought about. I've known almost all of my life that God loves me, but these words bring them to me in a whole new way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I would listen for hours, but eventually my very hot bubble baths, each night, would get cold, so I would reluctantly turn it off and go to bed with the wonderful reminder that God loves me for who I am, in a very special way.
Amazing Book! Written so everyone can understand
Would you listen to The Journey again? Why?
Yes! I've been already recommending it.
What does John H. Mayer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I felt like I was sitting in front of a fire sitting across from him while he talked to me like a friend.
A must read Book! It's So Awesome!
I enjoyed this book, every chapter and every moment of it, this book is so Down to Earth and practical to life. I couldn't stop listening, Billy Graham shares His experiences, stories and scriptures that flowed very well chapter by chapter addressing different important factors of this life we are living in. A phenomenal job by John H. Mayer the narrator, and thanks for awesome authorship by Billy Graham, who was overall no doubt led by the Lord to write and share this awesome book. I will highly recommend it to anyone. God bless...

    Well worth the read
For women of faith who want to understand better the problems women face today, this audiobook is worth every penny and more. DeMoss has given us a great insight to the real lies women have come to believe and explains the when, how and whys. Highly recommended and one of the best.
    where is the full book?
i love the book and the narration was good, but the book has 10 chapters and there are only 4 in audible??? Why? when I purchased it there was nothing leading me to believe that it was less than half of the book...Really not happy, maybe it was an error on my part?
    Everyone needs to hear this!
There were many ouch moments. however sometimes that is necessary for adults. I forgot who I was and who God purposed me to be. this book helped me to remember. I have already recommended it to 3 people.
    Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful Book
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. This is the kind of book you give to girlfriends you love, almost like saying, "Hey! You have to read this! It will help." And it does. It's hard to say, why... it's just such useful information presented in such a wonderful manner.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how it presented each lie in list form, then gave plenty of anecdotes to help illustrate them.
Have you listened to any of Lisa Helms other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't think so. She does a great job of presenting the material in a manner that is easy to listen to and not distracting.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES! I couldn't stop listening to it!
    Any additional comments?
This is a Christian book, using Adam and Eve as a wonderful foundation for the lies we women believe.
    Audio is great but different
I'm reading along with the book and the book that I have is not the version that audible.com has. How can this be avoided?

Every church is driven by some controlling force: tradition, finances, programs, events, personalities, or even the building itself. But author and pastor Dr. Rick Warren, the founder of Saddleback Valley Community Church in California, believes that a church can only be truly healthy if it becomes "purpose-driven," built around the 5 goals Jesus stated in the New Testament. Dr. Warren's illuminating work outlines a proven 5-part strategy that will enable your church to become warmer through fellowship, deeper through discipleship, stronger through worship, broader through ministry, and larger through evangelism. By shifting the focus away from church-building programs, Dr. Warren emphasizes a people-building, inclusive process that will allow your church to grow without compromising its message and mission.

This book is full of great resources and arguments for how and what to build in a great, purpose-driven church.
The performance is also pleasing, and the narrative lends itself well to audio. Except that I want to take notes every 5 minutes!
    Amazing, it was amazing
What a wonderful experience I felt when I listen the audio of The purpose -driven Church. I have recognized the guidance of the Holy Spirit during the time that I have been serving as an elder. I recommend reading, as I've felt different after just simply hearing the message.
    Well explained.
The pastor will take you step by step through the bible) to discover the purpose of the church.
    Great resource
Great resource for every pastor and Christian wishing to build the church and make a difference in advancing God's kingdom.
