Really nice
I quite liked this book. It's nice to see Young Adult written so beautifully. The plot is fresh, the characters live and breathe, and though I would call the writing "quiet," you just can't put it down. Loved it!
Best Book I've Read In A Long Time!
This book is amazing! I love to read books but this is the first one in a while that really hooked me in. It's a really great story line and I recommend it to anyone who likes YA love stories.
Beautifully written book about incredibly brave, strong women.
This beautifully written book examines relationships and how women are so often seduced by the idea of love and end up in relationships with all the wrong men. I started reading on Valentineâs Day, in the mood for a fun, light romance promised by the gorgeous cover. Was I disappointed? Maybe a little at first, but soon I was caught up in the lives of these incredibly brave, strong women, their stories and their determination to prevail, and just like life, romance came along unexpectedly â not the sweep you off your feet only to drop you later love â but the real thing â the one where he sees the real you through all the armour you've put up.
Road to Discovery
This is the author's sixth book and features seventeen-year-old Quinn who has to deal with a grandmother, mother, and aunt who are all cynics about love and relationships.
After being dumped by her boyfriend, Quinn takes a road trip (to return things her father stole from former wives and girlfriends) and finds herself on a trip to finding herself. She also finds her half-sister, Frances, along the way.
This is a book of discovery. Quinn discovers how much it hurts to be dumped (even if by a boy she thought she was indifferent to), that she wants a relationship to her caddish father, and that there really are some good men out there.
I have to wonder if this book can hold the attention of eighth graders (part of its intended audience) though due to its slow start. But once it gets going, it is a good book for teens.
Smart, Quirky and Heartfelt
Since she was young, Quinn has constantly heard about how awful men are. Her mother, aunt, and grandmother have all been in bad relationships, and feel the need to warn Quinn about the men she should stay away from. This, unfortunately, also includes her dad, who has just recently come back into her and her sister's lives. But when Quinn discovers that all of her father's "prized possessions" are actually things he's stolen from the women he's been with, she decides to right her father's wrongs. Quinn calls up the half-sister she barely knows, and they set out to return the items that their father has stolen. On this roadtrip, Quinn learns the truth about her father, mends the hearts of some of his exes, and might even mend hers along the way.
I absolutely loved this book. The whole idea for it was just amazing. I loved the fact that Quinn and her sisters were riding around and delivering the objects to their rightful owners. A lot the women that their father had dated or married were really nice people, and the objects were some of their prized possessions.
