Publisher's Summary:
Hawthorn Creely is searching for the missing Lizzie Lovett, but she might just end up finding herself.
Hawthorn Creely doesn't fit in, and that was before she inserted herself into a missing persons investigation. She doesn't mean to interfere, but Lizzie's disappearance is the most fascinating mystery their town has ever had. And she's pretty sure Lizzie'll turn up at any moment, which means the time for speculation is now. So Hawthorn comes up with her own theory for Lizzie's disappearance. A theory way too absurd to take seriously at first. To prove she's right, Hawthorn hunts for evidence by immersing herself in Lizzie's life. Taking the job and boyfriend of a missing person might seem kind of dangerous, but it may just be the push Hawthorn needs to find her own place in the world.

Couldn't Connect with Hawthorne
This book was weird, and I did not connect with the main character. The narrator was good, which is probably why I continued to listen. Iâm giving this 1 out of 5 stars.
So this book was a Big Library Read, which is why I finally listened to the audiobook. I figured if they liked it so much to promote it through that program, and because of the many 4-5 star reviews on Goodreads, Iâd enjoy it. Nope, unfortunately not.
If Iâd tried another format besides the audiobook, this would probably be a DNF book. I just couldnât connect with Hawthorne. Maybe for a couple pages in the middle, and then the last 1 1/2 chapters, but that doesnât make a huge fangirl out of a reader. And I didnât really love any of the other characters either.
I can appreciate weirdness and/or differentness, but this book was too far out there for me. And I felt like nothing was really happening for a good deal of the book besides Hawthorneâs theories about Lizzie Lovett. She felt pretty obsessed to me.
All I can say is if you want, give this one a try for yourself. I almost always have similar ratings on books weâve both read with one Goodreads friend, but she gave this 5 stars. Like the publishing world says, itâs subjective.
Perfect Timing
Depression hits people so hard this time of year. Reading this book made me undoubtedly realize that just because someone appears to have it all together doesnât mean they really do.
Funny and fresh
From the very start, The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett feels fresh, humorous, and unique. The main character, Hawthorn, is delightful to follow as she tries to solve a local mystery while also navigating the perilous seas of personal relationships. I read this book in two days and would recommend it to anyone!
Good read
This book captured all the angst of high school as well as the drama of family life. Enjoyable reading experience
Can You Stalk A Missing Person?
The blurbs make this sound like the story of a slightly odd misfit who immerses herself in the life of a missing girl in order to solve the mystery of the girl's disappearance. Sort of a teenage angst version of the movie "Laura", ("A police detective falls in love with the woman whose murder he is investigating."), but with a seventeen year old girl taking the Dana Andrews part. Now that's a book I'd enjoy. But it's not this book.
In this book we get an angsty whiner who is mean, rude, thoughtless, self-absorbed, and sour enough to end up as a high school outcast.
