    Critic Reviews:
"Simon has written a fast-moving story full of lively characters, both two- and four-legged. This series is highly recommended for mystery fans who love cats but who prefer to leave the crime-solving to humans." (Booklist)

    Great story, great narrator
An unexpected delight! It seemed like an ordinary mystery-with-cats. But within the first few pages, you and the author have become co-conspirators in the enjoyment of a well-written, intelligent mystery read by a perfectly-matched narrator. It's set in Cambridge, MA (okay, Cambridgeport, an entirely different place than Cambridge, despite being part of the same city), primarily in the garage-band club scene, with cat-rescue being another thread in the story. The characters are well-drawn, the plot not predictable and all the subplots satisfactorily tied up at the end. The writing itself (apart from the plots and character crafting) is a pleasure to read, and the narrator enhances it beautifully.
Not the Cat Mystery I expected
Would you try another book from Clea Simon and/or Tavia Gilbert?
Simon was an author who came up in my search for cat mysteries. However, I would not really call this a cat mystery. I will dispute both cat and mystery. The person who dies in the beginning of the book is trying to relocate a feral cat colony, and the main character Theda has a cat she talks about a lot named Musetta. We hear about how cute Musetta is and get long descriptions of the two playing with a foil ball and such. But there is nothing else cat about the book. And as far as the mystery, we solve the mystery of the cat relocators death at the end of this book, but Theda isn't actually investigating it. She's doing a lot of different things in her role as a freelance writer but I wouldn't say she was investigating this. The plot is so all over the place I am not sure what this book is about. And truthfully, I really don't like Theda very much. She's 33 years old and hasn't really grown up. Her main source of income is a column she writes for the newspaper called "Clubland" about the local music scene. So her "job" is mainly to hang out at clubs - but she isn't even a real rock critic. Her cop boyfriend seems too good for her, and her friends are just people I can't relate to at all - a lesbian punk rocker who also runs a shelter and a Wiccan named Bunny. And Theda is very pushy and nosy, but also annoyingly naive. Like she refuses to believe a person could have been slipped a drug at a club - insisting it must be a virus. Part of it may be the narrator, but I am thinking the narrator is probably doing a great job - that I just don't like Theda.
I learned this is book 3 in a series of a bunch of these. Now I feel extra disappointed that I don't like this book.

    Publisher's Summary:
Peter Robinson is one of the crime world's finest stylists. This is a collection that will explore our hidden paranoia, challenge all that we take for granted, lure us to new, exotic places - only to make us wish we could run back home, and keep us up all night just waiting for the safety of the dawn.
This is the final volume of a three volume audio series.

    Not Robinson's best work
Despite the odd interesting experiment ("The Duke's Wife" in Volume Three, for example, a short story of murder featuring the characters from Shakespeare's Measure for Measure) and brief interludes filling in the gaps between the Inspector Banks novels, this collection is a slightly disappointing one. The stories are frequently predictable, unlike the full-length Inspector Banks novels, and certainly not up to Robinson's usual standard.

    Not for me!
Very mediocre, quite bland in places, with only a little excitement to keep me switched on.

Bit cheeky stretching the book over three audiobooks, too!

They weren't that close at school and the temperature cooled even more when Carl married Kevin's girl, Lucy. Carl, a scientist, sounds anxious and afraid. They arrange to meet at a baseball game in Denver but Carl never makes it. Someone kills him first. Soon after, Lucy surprises a masked figure prowling Carl's study. Whatever her husband was working on, a lot of people want to get their hands on it. Some are clearly prepared to kill for it, though not the prowler from the critically acclaimed author of Easy Money, Iced and Flashback.

"Equipped with quirky characters, a quicksilver plot and chase scenes aplenty." (Publishers Weekly)

    Three Stars
Not as good as her other novels.
A Journalist and a Widow Combine Forces to Unlock the Secret of a Company Called Bioflux
Kevin Burns is a journalist who has just lost his job with MSNBC for faking a report. He's trying to determine what he should do next when out of the blue, he's contacted by an old high school acquaintance named Carl Greene. The call is something of a surprise because Kevin and Carl were never close and Carl wound up marrying Kevin's old girlfriend, Lucy.
Carl insists that he has a very important story that Kevin needs to hear. Naturally, since this is a thriller and not real life, Carl refuses to give Kevin even a hint over the phone but insists that they meet at a baseball game in Denver. And, of course, since this is a thriller and not real life, Carl will die in a mysterious car crash before he can meet with Kevin. But the appointment does serve to brink Kevin back to the Denver area where the three grew up.
Shortly after Carl's death, an intruder breaks into his house where Lucy, now his widow, is sleeping. Lucy wakes up and finds the intruder riffling through the files in Carl's study. She chases the intruder off and assumes it was simply a burglar, even though the intruder bypassed several very valuable items on the way to the study.
Of course the reader knows, as Lucy should know, that something much more sinister is going on here. Kevin and Lucy reconnect and the files in Carl's study are removed by a couple of guys from Bioflux, the company he works for. Shortly thereafter, the intruder returns and is extremely upset to discover that the files are gone.
Naturally, very dark and mysterious things are going on here. (How could they not be when you're dealing with a company called Bioflux?) Lucy, Kevin and an associate that I won't name for fear of giving away a plot point, join forces and go on the road in pursuit of whatever the secret was that Carl had uncovered. Very bad people will attempt to prevent them from succeeding in their mission.
I'm a huge fan of Jenny Siler's first two books, Easy Money and Iced, which both have very gritty, realistic plots and feature tough, edgy female protagonists. Shot is not a bad book, but it pales a bit by comparison to Siler's first two novels.

    A boys book
I bought this book because it was read by Steven Pacey who I really enjoy listening to and it seemed a mystery book.
There is a little mystery but it is engulfed by bishy bashy boys talk about gun numbers and people being blown up by 100 different ways. It reads like a boys picture comic.

Kristin's life is complicated: her lover, Michael, is married, and the father of the children she looks after. His wife is a nasty, icy woman. But things are set to get worse. She starts seeing people on the streets of New York whom she knows are dead: her grandfather, a local from her home town. And when she studies her photographs of these people, their bodies appear to be transparent, just like the bodies in the photographs of her nightmare. Kristin feels like she's going mad; nothing seems to make any sense.

    You've been warned
Not my best I have read from James Patterson, felt could not decide between being a normal story or a supernatural.
    Rubbish
Would you try another book written by James Patterson and Howard Roughan or narrated by Ilyana Kadushin?
I would not try another book written by these two authors together although the narrator, Ilyana Kadushin did OK with a ridiculous story.
What was most disappointing about James Patterson and Howard Roughan s story?
I have loved all James Patterson Books, and although I saw this was written jointly with Howard Roughan thought it would be as good. Nowhere does it say its a supernatural novel (I am not a fan of this genre with the exception of Stephen King who is the master at it). If you are a fan of James Patterson and loved his Murder Club novels, Alex Cross and his other stand alone novels do not bother with this one - complete waste of time.
What didnt you like about Ilyana Kadushins performance?
She was Ok but my dislike was coloured by the story
What character would you cut from You've Been Warned?
All of them - book was a waste of time
    Any additional comments?
Very disappointing having been a fan of James Patterson for many years. I feel the write up on Audible's website should have denoted the fact that this is a supernatural novel - it was very misleading.

    Terrible
Forget this one. Simplistic and devoid of any imagination. The narration stunk-bad German accents. Cant figure out how it was published other than who do you know.Waste of time and money. I suppose my hats off you managed to hook me for the cost of one but I would not read any more.
The set up is some special group selected top of their craft experts yet they are like Keystone Cops really. It was almost embarrasing to read.
    Not worth it
Same ole boiler plate, that has been done much better by other authors. Beyond the old premise the story isn't even that good.

    Buchan-esque
A thoroughly exciting yarn - the exposition is detailed without being dull, the middle doesn't lag and the final third when event's return to the protagonist's native Scotland are reminiscent of Buchan's finest moments in The 39 Steps - but with added blood and guts. Splendid stuff.
