Hot Office Romance with Introverts as the Stars

What made the experience of listening to Due South the most enjoyable?

This story was incredibly hot. I read it first as a recommendation from the Heroes & Heartbreakers blog and could not wait to hear it on audio. The idea of 2 office nerdy introverts having a hot secretive affair appealed to me. It was sweet and funny and for the third time I am going to mention that it was hot because it was definitely that.

What other book might you compare Due South to and why?

I honestly cannot say. I am use to office romances where the guy is completely dominant or there is an undercurrent of edge due to competitive rivalry between the leads. In this book Lucy and Evans have a great respect for each other and the work that the other does. Evans has a crush on Lucy that he would never act upon because he would not want to be in appropriate. Lucy knows how dependable Evans is but has never noticed how handsome he is or seen him in a sexual context....all until the one day that they both see something they shouldn't and both become very stimulated by it. That is the start of something big for both of them (especially Lucy!) Yes, I just went there. : )

What does Mia Madison and Rock Engle bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I can actually say Evans first name now and pronounce it correctly. I could not do that before. I kid, they did a great job. I feel like the male narrator was great at conveying Evans nervous moments and they both did a great job with the many sexy times in the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh, yeah. NSFW so I put in my ear buds : )

I have not read this series so this can be listened to as a stand alone. I did however just download the 1st book in the series and am looking forward to learning more about India. This book was not just about sex--there was story line that let you in on more about who Lucy and Evans are as individuals and you get to see them both grow emotional and gain independence from things that have been weighing them down.

Synopsis:

This story starts off with Rose's bad day. First she loses her favorite bra as a drooling guy rolls on top of it while she's trying to rescue it. Then, while trying to sneak out the door with a minimal walk of shame and a raging hangover, the guy's parents surprise her downstairs and rope her into breakfast. As if the day couldn't get any worse she sees in the newspaper that her father just passed away. This is the man she defied for years so she should feel victorious but instead isn't sure what to feel. Now, imagine her surprise when she finds out he left her a large chunk of money. Except there's a catch - she has to get married by her birthday coming real soon if she wants to keep it.

While drowning her sorrows with her best friend Tommy and his new pet goat, she hatches a plan to get the money by marrying Tommy. Why not? He's her best friend after all and they've thwarted her father with crazy schemes all their lives. What's one last scheme?

Bring in Tommy's stuffy billionaire brother Dylan and best girl friend Lily and refuse to take the private jet and you wind up with a crazy road trip to Vegas, complete with breaking down in the middle of the desert, a harrowing experience with a truck driver at night (heh), howling, questionable accommodations, fear of bats, a slight 8 hour detour, ant attacks, peyote, and the feeling that not everyone is as excited about this fake wedding as they pretend to be.

This story will leave you laughing and rooting for Rose to get to her wedding in time to save her money and with the right guy. But who exactly is the right guy? The only down side is it is just part 1 and you'll have to wait for the next part to find out what happens at the wedding and beyond. Definitely worth the read though.

I love the way this author writes with humor, has such unique characters and writes actual romance where two people grow in love with each other rather than mistake lust for love. I just ran into one of her series and the excerpt for this story was at the end of the last book. I didn't want to read it because I knew in advance it was only part 1 but I couldn't help myself. I doubt anyone can if you read the sample. That opening scene is just hilarious. You've been forewarned ;)

Two stars is generous

I got so tired of the idiotic, immature, flat characters in the first book. If I had known it was not a true book but a continued in the next volume, I would have tossed the book when I first had the urge to shred it. I actually read the whole thing hoping to find something to redeem the author in my opinion.

Very easy reading Christmas book

I really enjoyed the first story in this two story book. It is a very fast read and light and sweet happy ever after tale. I had a little more trouble getting into the second story but it was still well written.

Jon and Hope ; Christian and Kat

Two very sexy stories told from completely different perspectives. Jon and Hope become a brand new could to help her out in the middle of a difficult situation . He has been attracted to her since they met,her needing him to pose as her fiancée is his perfect opportunity to get involved with her and her life . Can not tell much more without spoiler alerts great , hot , sexy times HEA family restored. Kat and Christian have been married for about 10 years and have been trying to get pregnant he feels like she is treating him like a stud and that their is less spontaneity and spark in their sex life . It's still good but not like it was . It's great seeing how they work it out . Another HEA still sexy even with time .

Love At First Trouble

What a great intro to Rohan and Hindi's story, fun, flighty, Hindi gets Ro to break his schedule to step out of the lines, she challenges him and he loves it. Hindi doesn't know how to draw between the lines and she is okay with that and she sees Ro as a challenge that keeps life interesting. can't wait for more.

I loved this story from the start to finish, I found it difficult to switch off.

Loved it.

Really enjoyed this book. Started on December 1st which was great so many 'christmas' books have a little Christmas in and this felt Christmassy enough. Loved the story and Ava's character and all of the others. Liked how it ended and the sensitivity around Wendy's condition. Will recommend

Entertaining & with a strong educational message

Narrator too rushed in places. Odd inflections in phrases, & odd pronunciations. Story well researched & pleasingly readable. Good yarn but also educational for not only for victims of abuse but also for those kindly folk affected by the PTS experienced by the victim - & the victim's hypersensitivity. Jolly good read. Shame about the narration.

Enjoyable

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Not only were the characters interesting, the storyline was somewhat unique. And even though I thought I had figured out the ending, it had a twist that I would never have seen coming. I recommend the book.

The Promise

This is a book that I could not seem to put down. I read it in 2 days while we were in the middle if a huge snowstorm. The characters are all wonderful and the story lines are great. A must read for anyone who loves a good plot with fabulous characters. Do not miss this wonderful read.

A captivating story of mystery and romance

I found this to be a complicated storyline but it held my attention. This tale was historical as well as cultural. I enjoyed both of these aspects. I would recommend this book to anyone.

This is my first book by this arthor., loved it. Once I began I just couldn't put it down. Very interesting.

I liked the story, but it didn't come near the "high water mark," of "The Amber Keeper". I really did enjoy the mystery, though.

A fun, light-hearted page turner

I really enjoyed this book! It is a fun, light-hearted read that keeps you turning the pages. You will sit down to read it and suddenly you've read a whole chapter before you even notice. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. I found myself connecting characters and situations back to things that have happened in my own relationships.

I also really appreciated the descriptive language. It helped to really see and feel the where the characters were at any given point in the story. I can't wait for Rachel's next book!

Three stars

I really liked the main character's dad and the basic story line. I thought the main character was selfish and treated her fiancé badly by dumping him for her old boyfriend. I didn't care for the sex scenes or the pranks perpetrated by the "adults." Those were not necessary to carry the plot forward.

LOVED From Scratch

LOVED From Scratch! I'm a sucker for a southern setting, since I grew up in the northern US and haven't yet had many opportunities to travel south. A sweet story with some yummy sexiness :) Can't wait for Sour Grapes!

Full of southern charm (and cooking), From Scratch is a saucy, funny and charming second chance at love romance. This debut novel by Rachel Goodman is a fast-paced love story with an absolutely phenomenal cast of well developed characters and an engaging storyline that is sure to delight fans of contemporary romances.

Cannot get enough of this series

Anne Jolin can write a romantic suspense that is full of passion and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I love that she takes real life problems that are not spoken of easily and translate them into the story, showing that things are not always easy to deal with and life is not always simple. We previously met Kyle and Beth in book 2 of this series, and instantly disliked Kyle. Kyle is a horrible man turned stalker and Beth with her new job is trying to deal with it. Little does she know her new boss, Braxton, is the one man that saved her from her vile ex once, and now will do anything to keep her as his and safe. The ensemble of friends is still around, Hannah, Grayson, Jay, Peyton, Lennon and Jamie all make appearances giving that feeling of home when things get tough. This book is definitely worth a credit, as is the series.

Lucy Rivers is amazing as a narrator. She takes this set of characters and gives each such life and personality, it's like they are part of the listener's life. Cannot wait to load up book 4.

Redemption, Connecticut is the small town that Rose moves to when she needs the support of her family for her son and herself. Rescuing Rose seems to be the main theme but in fact she has faced her demons and is an independent single mother. She has the support of her family and reconnects with her childhood friend and next door neighbor to her Aunt.

The story is full of romance, an interfering mother and want-to-be girlfriend. Rescuing Rose is a fun romance full of emotion and reality that makes it a good love story.

Rose and her brother Jake lost their mother early and their father was a mean drunk. Rose has no self esteem and became someone who tried to please everyone. She's a single mom trying to make it as a chef when her world starts to spiral out of control.

Jake is taking care of her son Olly for her while she gets herself together. Jake moves to Redemption to be near their aunt for support. Rose decides it's time for a new start and moves to Redemption also and she and Olly try to reconnect. Rose runs into her childhood friend, Caden, who lends a hand with Olly so that she's able to get a job and get back on her feet.

Nice little romance with a small town atmosphere. This is the first book that I have read by the author and though this is the second book in a series, it's a stand alone. I plan to read the others.

I won this from Goodreads Giveaways. I found that it was a wonderful novel about starting over and trying to find a path to better things. Rose didn't have the best of childhoods, and tried to find love from working as a cook and then from a man who was more into partying then being a decent human being and father. He died young and she was left to raise her son and with help from her big brother she was doing ok. Yeah the money was tight and they had to move a lot because of cost for everything until she got fired and found her way into a bottle and got upset with her young son and it only took one time for her to realize she needed to ask for help. She asked her brother to take her son and she checked herself in to rehab.
