Sure, he needs to prove himself to an older, tight-knit crew, but how bad can it be if he keeps his head down and the decks clean?
He never counted on the interstellar trade routes having their own problems, from local wars to plagues of pirates - and the jade in his luggage is hotter than a neutron star. Steve's left a world of troubles behind, only to find a galaxy of them ahead....

Heading Out Into Space And Freedom
Where does Take the Star Road rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Up there. I thought this was very easy to follow both on the writing and the narration side. Perfect for this format.
What other book might you compare Take the Star Road to and why?
Nathan Lowell's Quarter share as it's about someone getting their space legs and becoming a merchant. This has a bit more action, however.
Which character as performed by Bob Allen was your favorite?
Hard to say. I don't feel like the narrator really does a ton of differentiation with the character voices, but he does give a great feel for the perspective character. So probably the main character, Steve.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!
great story
This is a great story and I'm looking forward to listening to the next volume.
great story
loved the book. loved the audio version too.
looking forward to the next book in the series
guess this was a one voice childs play
the bad ahh shucks ma'am story was bad enough but add in that the narrator just used the same voice for every character mad it that much worse
Great series of books. Looking forward to it!
Would you consider the audio edition of Take the Star Road to be better than the print version?
The audio version is not as good as the book, but still pretty good. The book was excellent and I still reread it every so often.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character, although short lived, was Vince. He is the one that set the ethos of the entire book.
Have you listened to any of Bob Allens other performances before? How does this one compare?
Don't believe I have. Unless he does sci-fi I doubt it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Even though I know how it finishes, I still want to finish it.
Any additional comments?
Very much looking forward to the next in the series.
