    Publisher's Summary:
Fans of Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Holly Black's The Curse Workers will embrace this richly drawn, Norse-mythology-infused alternate world: the United States of Asgard. Seventeen-year-old Soren Bearskin is trying to escape the past. His father, a famed warrior, lost himself to the battle-frenzy and killed thirteen innocent people. Soren cannot deny that berserking is in his blood - the fevers, insomnia, and occasional feelings of uncontrollable rage haunt him. So he tries to remain calm and detached from everyone at Sanctus Sigurd's Academy. But that's hard to do when a popular, beautiful girl like Astrid Glyn tells Soren she dreams of him. That's not all Astrid dreams of - the daughter of a renowned prophetess, Astrid is coming into her own inherited abilities.
When Baldur, son of Odin and one of the most popular gods in the country, goes missing, Astrid sees where he is and convinces Soren to join her on a road trip that will take them to find not only a lost god, but also who they are beyond the legacy of their parents and everything they've been told they have to be.

    Very Original
The Lost Sun is a book that defies so many YA conventions: unapologetically violent, a very low key romance, and for once, a story that is not about an entitled unique snowflake girl. As well, the world building is unique, the voice dark yet grounded, and the main character flawed but with unique strengths. At heart, this is a road trip with a decided conclusion at the end despite being the first in a series.
In the United States of Asgard, Viking gods walk the Earth and magic, trolls, and mythos are very much a part of the landscape. Soren is the son of a berserker - one who went mad and killed innocents before being put down. His father was legendary for his valor and strength; now for his fall from grace. In that shadow, Soren wishes freedom from the berserker ability within him. When he meets Astrid, a seer, he will join her on a quest to find the lost sun Baldur the Beautiful; Baldur did not rise with the sunrise and the people are worried. But there is far more at stake than one lost god and Soren, along with Astrid, will come into contact with several of the Gods as they are caught up in Asgardian machinations.
The premise of having a modern America under Viking influence rather than European is quite distinct and well realized here. From the new names of cars, to unique soft drinks, to the way society reacts and acts; they are all logical conclusions to the Asgardian influence. The book is layered and nuanced but would ultimately fail if we didn't invest in the main characters. Fortunately, Gratton does an excellent job of giving us realistic and grounded individuals despite the supernatural elements in the story.
There was such a plausibility and authenticity to the characters and setting that we invested in the world and wanted to see if they would reach their goals at the end. There were a few twists, some were obvious, but overall the story followed a satisfying arc and the author neither overwrote nor overplayed the mysteries.
In all, a great read and I eagerly await the second in the series. Note: I listened to the Audible version and the narrator did an excellent job.
    A Surprise Favorite
I need to start out by saying that The Lost Sun is not going to be a 5-star book for everyone.

    Easy and Light listening
A fun Zombie story coming from a teenage view of events. a 10th to 12th grade equivalent but that is what makes it easy and Light traveling on the highway listening. Enjoyed the light hearted humor and adventure of the family as they made their way through the Zombie take over
    Great book
Another great book in the series can't wait till I get the next one love this series lots of twists great characters great story always leaves you wanting to read the next one
    Entertaining!
Would you consider the audio edition of Running Wild to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version but loved the audio.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Running Wild?
    When Austin turned crazy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    Most of them.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No. I laughed and felt every bit of the suspense.
    Any additional comments?
Running Wild is book 2 in the Zombie Games series by Kristen Middleton is every bit as good as the first. I listened to book 1 on a five hour one way road trip and book 2 on the way back. They kept my attention and gave me company during the otherwise lonely, boring drive. This book picks up at the same spot the last one left off. With a car full of people they trek across the U.S. in search of Cassies sister and mother. Her father being a car salesman gets them a big enough car off the lot and they pack up to flee.
But nothing is that simple. Besides the bombardment of zombies and need for heavy weaponry (her father loves guns) there are plenty of disruptions and plot twists to keep the reader/listener on the edge of their seat. Along with that Cassie and Bryce newly formed romance continues to have disruptions as they find a pretty girl that Cassie knows from school and add her to the growing clan. And a cute soldier saved by Cassies mom decides to join them and hes got a thing for Cassie. Chalk full of action and suspense.
Belle Avery is wonderful! And her voice is perfect for the series. The voice in an audiobook is everything. As a listener I have a growing list of narrators I enjoy. Shes moving quickly to the top.
    The high and the mighty!
Would you try another book from Kristen Middleton and/or Belle Avery?
No, I don't understand how you can have a black belt and not fight back! Rule 1 if someone is trying to kill you, kill them first!
What do you think your next listen will be?
Anything but part 3 or 4 of this series
How did the narrator detract from the book?
    She was ok.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Running Wild?
    The whole kidnapping part.
    filled will action
I love vampire and zombie books the best ever is mark tufo, but this is really good except that I can't find book three dead endz. it skips 3 and goes right to 4 so I guess I'm done with this until 3 comes out on audio

    Freya Becomes Freya
The doubts are gone the Lord of the North is herself. The battles hard, but our heroine was born to lead. Alliances forged, enemies vanquished. Now, Elfreyda, Lord of the North, stands tall in victory, with Chevelle by her side. Well done! Looking forward to the next installment!
    Strong , intelligent, interesting
English been my second language I found myself consulting the dictionary often, that was an added value.
I enjoyed the story, the way it was written and many of the concepts like the need for balance in power, the preconceptions about other kind of beings, the love for animals but the total disregard for human or elves or fairy lives.
I don't care for this new system of a book in deliveries I like to buy a book and read it but I guess it's like a trial size ir you don't like the product you don't buy the rest of the story...
    Great book!!
I have been reading this whole series and I finish one and get the next one!! The storyline has intrigued me so much to just keep reading and reading!!! A sign of a great writer when you can keep on reading and reading the series!! Will read more from her.
Fulfillment with Rise of the seven
This 4th book of the Frey Saga was somewhat predictable but still enjoyable. I found the series quite appropriate for young adults. There are many unanswered questions at the end of the story so I hope there will be a subsequent installment. All things considered, this saga has been a good read.
    Exciting
This continuation is an exciting read. It is still told in the first person, so some events are confusing because the reader doesnât have all the facts, but the key points are clear.

    Members Reviews:
    This series is so good!
If you could sum up Unbreakable in three words, what would they be?
    Suspensful. Entralling. Genius.
What other book might you compare Unbreakable to and why?
I really can't compare it to another book for a few reasons. 1. It's very intelligently written. It's not just for young adults, I think anyone could find this book interesting. 2. There are so many different concepts in this book that I was worried they'd get lost, but it all worked and all made sense. 3. The protagonist was strong throughout the series. She never seemed to give up or feel sorry for herself. Yes she had issues with her parents, but I loved her strong character and her refusal to quit.
However, I found this series on a list of books similar to the Lunar Chronicles. I think they were very different but I'd still highly recommend the Lunar Chronicles if you haven't read them yet.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I liked a lot of scenes, I liked the idea of the characters hopping between worlds so easily. I did enjoy the prison scene, it was very descriptive.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    When everything goes wrong..
    Any additional comments?
Amazing. So worth the read and the listen. I have a feeling I'll be reading this book again soon.
A MUST OWN SEQUEL!! I'm addicted!
    Any additional comments?
Awesome YA series that Adults can easily enjoy as well. I'm kinda picky about my YA novels, as I only have a special handful I'd consider as my Favorites. Being a reader in my late-30's, it takes a special mixture in YA story-lines to keep me really interested. These books are both great! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The sequel is actually better than the original!!
This story is quite well and tightly woven. Ms Norris has spun a tale that is well written and if anything, slightly understated, especially considering that the principal characters are teens so it would be easy to get "gushy." The story really brings you into J's world. There are a couple of unimportant details that don't seem to line up but that is of little consequence as I found myself wanting to hear more about this minor character or that scenario. Katie Schorr does a SPECTACULAR job narrating this book. She is quite consistent with this book and book 1 and her range of voices and emotions really brings you into the world of the Interverse.

    Enjoyable read.
I liked the characters and the story line. The magic is interesting giving a sense of power but also with the power comes limitations, allowing the magic bearers to still be vulnerable. If there is one flaw I would say that it is somewhat simple. For this reason I would recommend it to a younger audience, 12+ years old. It would also be a great family read.
    Five Stars
    Great book!
    Very enjoyable
I started this by listening to the audio book, which was a wonderful way to pass the time on a LONG car trip. I finished by reading from my Kindle and found I enjoyed the entire experience.
    An excellent read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book---it is well-written and keeps the reader engaged through the whole story. I can't wait for the next one! :)
    Excellent book

"Shades of The Hunger Games permeate a story centered around two courageous teens determined to buck all odds in an effort to regain their loved ones. But the true strength in any story lies not so much in its setting and events as in how the characters come across, come alive, and handle their lives - and it's here that

If you could sum up Arena One: Slaverunners in three words, what would they be?
    What a ride!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Pt. 1: Brooke, because her father was a marine and taught her at a young age how to fight and take care of herself. So she is does whatever she can to protect and rescue her younger sister Bree from the slaverunners after they took her from their mountain home. Then she meets Ben, another survivor, whose brother has also been taken. This is when they team up to get her sister and his brother back. If, they don't get killed or put into the arena to fight and die first. Pt. 2: When trying to save Bree and Ben's brother, Brooke and Ben are caught by the slaverunners and are made to fight in the arena. It is amazing that they even survive. That is when they meet Logan, a former slaverunner, and he helps them to escape. All the while Brooke is finding that she has feelings for Ben and Logan, which confuses her.

Award-winning author Karen Healey has created a haunting, cautionary tale of an inspiring protagonist living in a not-so-distant future that could easily be our own.

    Great narrator - ok story....
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I listened to the audible version and I have to tell you one star is just for the narrator and her great job with the voices and and the Aussie accents. She was wonderful. So in that aspect yes it was time well spent . The author does a good job flushing out the details - great future slangs, her obsession with The Beatles, how religion has and hasn't changed. There is a big swap at the end which seemed a bit rushed. Any book that you learn something from is worth the time u invest.
If youve listened to books by Karen Healey before, how does this one compare?
    N/a
What does Leslie Bellair bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Her accent and voices were fabulous. The many cultures that are represented as well as both genders she pulls of great. She helps bring emotion to the characters.
Do you think When We Wake needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It stands alone. I'm tired of trilogies
