Have you ever had something on your to-do list for a really long time because you have just been avoiding doing it? Maybe it's a task that is not even that hard, but you just aren't excited to do it, so you continue to procrastinate. In this episode of Literally First Class, Keri offers a game-changing strategy that will help you to take action when you notice you have been avoiding something because inaction is still action, so how do you break through that mental barrier?
In Keri's coaching, she encourages her clients to utilize an exercise called "The 5 Minute Commitment." 5 minutes doesn't sound so bad, right? Just commit to doing that one thing that you know you need to do for 5 minutes, then stop and assess. Do you feel in your flow? If so, keep going and you might realize that the one task you've been putting off isn't so bad and might actually feel great when you get in your zone. Or maybe the opposite is true and you find that you really don't want to keep going after 5 minutes, and then you can give yourself permission to stop.
Whether that task is making it to the gym, or working on something in your business, the hardest part is often just starting, so if you commit to 5 minutes, it may end up turning into something that becomes easy and automatic for you in the long run. We all have upper-level limits and moments of procrastination and fear and that causes mind drama, so we shut down. Instead of spending time thinking about doing something, just commit to 5 minutes and take action.

In this special couple's edition of Literally First Class, Keri is joined by her partner, Jake Kauffman. Jake is a spiritual guide and high-performance men's coach who blends personal transformation and business leadership in his approach. Together, Keri and Jake share their personal experiences of healing from historical trauma and opening themselves up to love. They discuss their dating experience during lockdown, including why they took a break and how they ultimately came back together.
Before starting their relationship, both Keri and Jake did significant work on themselves. Keri examined her own enmeshment, while Jake explored his unconscious beliefs around love. Jake emphasizes the importance of asking ourselves what might be blocking us from receiving love, which he explores in depth in his upcoming book, Let Love In.
Jake also explains how self-sabotage can prevent us from experiencing abundance in our relationships. He notes that we can become attached to stories that protect us and bring us back to our comfort zone, but it's crucial to lean into resistance instead of avoiding it. The most significant breakthroughs come from facing what we're trying to avoid.
Whether you're interested in personal growth, spiritual development, or improving your relationships, this episode has something for you. Join Keri and Jake as they share their personal experiences and valuable insights on healing from trauma, opening up to love, and overcoming self-sabotage.
For a limited time, you can get a pre-order copy of Jake's book "Let Love In" for only $0.99, plus an exclusive 13-minute meditation bonus! Get your copy here.

This episode of Literally First Class™ is a follow-up to the episode "Slow Down to Speed Up." While the sentiment of this statement means well, in reality we slow down, to speed up, to slow down again. Women often come to Keri and say that they want to do less and have more fulfillment in their lives. The goal is to slow down and learn to be planted where your feet are. Listen to the birds outside, sink your feet into the sand, and just be present in the moment.
Through somatic work, Keri has discovered that the magic is learning how to be relaxed and enjoy the beauty in the simple moments of life. We have so many things that pull us in different directions and demand our time and focus, but we don't have enough slow moments that feel safe to relax and rest. In order to take off, we have to charge up, and we have to slow down to get clear and take action before taking quantum leaps. Growth doesn't always have to look like forward motion. Growth can look like expansion, and growing roots to be planted right where you are. Your next level of success doesn't have to be reaching anywhere at all, but instead learning to be where your feet are planted.

When we see people go through significant transformations, it's important to recognize the efforts that have gone into them. Keri works with many women who are already exceptional in their industry and possess knowledge about personal growth and self-improvement. When they choose to pursue an even better version of themselves and participate in somatic exercises with Keri, they often achieve remarkable and seemingly rapid outcomes. It's important to acknowledge that these outcomes likely come from consistent work over time and different methods of working with Keri.
Becoming the person you want to be doesn't happen quickly, and it often involves some grief and resistance. Everyone has their unique disposition and capacity, so it's crucial to approach personal development with care and consideration and find a pace that suits you best. As a new mom, Keri struggled with feeling like she didn't fit in with other moms that take their kids to mommy and me classes and bring Pinterest worthy snacks to the daycare potluck. She has never been about that minivan life, and struggled to embrace motherhood fully in those beginning years. What she realized was that it all came down to what she thought being a "good" mom meant. In this modern day era where both partners are likely to be working, we have to redefine motherhood in our own terms.
Motherhood isn't defined by the car you drive, clothes you wear, or your ability to balance your various roles all on your own. We have to ask ourselves, "How do I want to define how being a good mom looks and feels for me and for my kids?" That might look like hiring help so that you can spend time being fully present with your kids while still being able to be the creative you want to be. So, what does being a good mom mean to you, and how are you redefining motherhood?

If you have been feeling like you are in a season of being lost, Keri sees you. Sometimes you have to get lost in order to find yourself. Getting lost has a purpose, so if you feel like you have lost your path, or things don't feel how you expected them to, trust that this season is serving your greater growth.
Keri shares her experience of getting lost last year, and what it feels like to come out of that dark hole to get closer to her calling and purpose to help others through the trauma informed somatic lens. Through doing deep healing work, our consciousness becomes exposed to the reality that is available to us, and that can be overwhelming, but rest assured that you are doing the necessary work to find yourself.
Keri shares her experience with choosing to give up makeup for 30 days and the lessons she learned from the absence of that vice and feeling exposed in a way that was uncomfortable, yet freeing. Through the challenging work of the last year, Keri experienced tremendous growth and has landed back in herself, and wants to share it all with you. These seasons are necessary and nourishing and ultimately serve your greater growth. So, go get lost. You'll find your way back.

There is no shortage of people sharing their opinions, whether that is in online reviews, on social media, or just word of mouth. In the era of cancel culture, everyone has something to say about something, and it is easy to let the opinions of others have an impact on the decisions we make. In this episode, Keri shares a personal experience of her own in which she debated whether or not to join a coaching program that had a lot of "not-so-great" reviews. Overall, Keri realized that she gets to make her own decisions and that when we allow the opinions of others to dictate our decisions, we give our power away and may miss out on something really great.
People's experiences are based on their lived perceptions, not necessarily reality or the facts. Once you understand the nervous system and trauma work you realize everyone is having a valid experience according to their body and their experience, but that doesn't mean it has to be the same experience that you have. People can go through the same event, yet recall vastly different experiences, but who is to say what the truth even is?
Due to human nature, we all want to belong so we may find ourselves taking on the opinions and experiences of others instead of choosing to find out something for ourselves. Keri walks you through some questions to ask yourself if you are trying to make a decision surrounding investing in yourself, or just any decisions you may feel conflicted about. When you make a decision to uplevel yourself, it can be scary but you just have to stay connected to your why, which will push away doubt, and you will eventually get what you came for.

The topic of this episode of Literally First Class is taking ownership of ourselves and ignoring the people who are not for us because you can never do the right thing for the wrong crowd. Rihanna's halftime performance has been the talk of the town lately and with it has come a lot of different opinions. From those who are for her to those who are against her, one thing is for sure; Rihanna wasn't afraid to express herself.
This is a lesson to be learned for all of us. People will always project their own views and opinions onto whatever you are doing, but it shouldn't dictate your actions. If you feel like you've been holding back your truth, then it's time to be you and embrace the real you because no matter what you do, there will always be people who are unhappy.
If you keep trying to please everyone, you will always end up losing. It's better to be true to yourself and express what you believe in. Don't be afraid to be bold and speak your truth.
Rihanna's performance has a message that we all need to hear. Be who you are and don't be afraid to express yourself. No matter how many people are for you or against you, the important thing is to show up as you.
