    我們總以為,
    是別人的話傷了我們,
    是世界讓我們焦慮不安。

    但佛陀說:

    聲音本身,不會傷人;
    讓你痛苦的,是你對聲音的執著。

    文殊菩薩手中的劍,
    不是用來對抗世界,
    而是斬斷我們內在的無明。

    而天赦日,也不是外在赦免,
    而是願意看清

    一直在相信那些念頭
    一直把感受當成真實

    那一刻,就是解脫的開始。

    這次在台南竹溪禪寺的劉于新「竹溪觀照」畫展,

    不只是展出作品,

    而是一種練習:

    在一筆一色之中,
    看見心如何起、如何執著、如何放下。

    也在古寺的時間裡,
    慢慢學會

    不急著評價,
    不急著反應,
    只是安靜地,看。

    如果剛好也在找一個「重新開始」的方式,

    也許不是改變世界,
    而是先看見:

    聲音只是聲音
    情緒只是情緒
    可以不被帶走

  • The Lotus Sutra and Mindfulness meditation

    The Mindful Heart Podcast S6E11
The Lotus Sutra × Mindfulness Practice

    When the Buddha speaks of
“a light from between the brows illuminating eighteen thousand worlds,”
it is not a display of power—
    it is a question:

Can you see your own mind clearly?

Every day, we move through our own “six realms”—
    anxiety, comparison, attachment, avoidance.
One thought arises, and a whole world forms.

In this episode, we don’t just explore the Lotus Sutra—
we turn it into a practice:

Seeing thoughts without being carried away
    Noticing emotions without reacting immediately
Holding clarity, even in the midst of chaos

    Thank you to every listener
The Mindful Heart is now heard across 108 countries.
    This is not just reach,
but awareness, shared and unfolding across the world.

    then seeing can too.

    You are warmly invited to

    這樣的「看」,

    也在劉于新的畫裡靜靜發生。

    在台南竹溪古寺的空氣中,

    金色的光不是炫目,

    而像香火之後留下的餘溫;

    線條不急著說明,

    而是讓心慢慢靠近。

    那不是要理解一幅畫,

    而是在觀看之中,

    放下觀看。

    不再抓住畫面,

    畫,才開始回來看你。

    今天,試一個很簡單的練習:

    不盯任何一個點,

    讓整個視野一起出現。

    不去分辨、不去命名,

    只是知道光在、色在,我們也在。

    會發現:

    世界還在,

    但不再那麼緊。

    那一刻,

    心像瑠璃一樣,清透而安住。

    🏛️ 展覽資訊

    劉于新竹溪觀照畫展

    📍 地點:竹溪書院二樓

    📅 展期:2026.05.10 – 2026.07.31

    開幕當日:

    🕙 10:00 開幕(書院三樓)

    🕐 13:00 中文導覽

    🕑 14:00 英文導覽

    這不只是一場畫展,

    而是一個重新學會「看」的地方。

    🧘‍♀️ 一分鐘正念

    👁️ 不找焦點

    🌬️ 不控制呼吸

    🌈 讓畫面自己來

    問自己:

    「我是在看,還是只是知道?」

    之所以疲憊,

    不是因為世界太多,

    而是一直以為

    需要一個人去抓住它。

  • The lotus sutra and Mindfulness Meditation

The Mindful Heart — Season 6, Episode 10
    Illuminating the Lotus Sutra
This episode reflects on a verse spoken by , questioning :

    Why does the Guiding Teacher
Emit a great light from the white curl between His brows, illuminating all?
    Heavenly flowers fall,
    Fragrant sandalwood winds arise,
    Delighting every heart.
The earth becomes pure and adorned,
The world trembles in six ways,
    And all beings rejoice—
    Body and mind at ease,
Experiencing what has never been experienced before.

    Mindfulness Reflection
This is not a story about miracles.
It is a map of the mind.
    The “light” is awareness.
The “flowers and fragrance” are what the present moment feels like
    when resistance softens.
The “trembling” is the loosening of what we thought was fixed.
And the “joy” is not excitement—
    but release.
    Take one minute today:
    Pause.
    Breathe.
Notice what you are holding onto.
    Then ask—
What happens if I don’t hold it so tightly?
    That shift…
is already the beginning of clarity.

    只是想讓一個人,
    在畫前停下來的那一刻,
    不再追逐念頭,
    而是回到那一念清明。

    畫,是靜的;
    心,也可以。

    若剛好走過,
    祈願來看見自己的心。

  • The Lotus Sutra and Mindfulness Meditation- See the light within

The Mindful Heart Podcast- Season 6, Episode 9
    The Lotus Sutra and
Learning to See the Light Within

There is a moment in the Lotus Sutra where the entire assembly-monastics, lay practitioners, devas, dragons, and unseen beings-witnesses a vast light radiating from the Buddha, illuminating countless worlds. And yet, instead of certainty, a question arises:

“What is this? And who can we ask?”

Even Maitreya Bodhisattva does not rush to answer. He pauses. He observes the minds of the whole assembly. And then, he turns to Manjushri Bodhisattva the embodiment of wisdom and asks:

“By what causes and conditions does this light appear, illuminating so many worlds in their full clarity?”

This episode is not about supernatural light.

It is about something far more precise:
    the moment awareness begins.

In today’s mindfulness practice, we don’t try to interpret the sutra-we use it.

    We observe three things:

    1.The question
    2.The light
3.The adornment - seeing without judgment

When a thought arises, instead of following it, we pause and ask:
    Where did this come from?

    This is the practice.

On this sacred day, we also honor the birthday of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.

Samantabhadra represents the unity of wisdom and action-the perfect integration of understanding and practice
and embodies the great vows that guide all beings toward awakening. Often regarded as the source of all Buddhas’ vows and conduct, his path reminds us:

    Insight alone is not enough.
    Clarity must become action.

    To see clearly is wisdom.
To live it, moment by moment, is the vow.
The Buddha’s light is not something distant.
It is the moment you notice a thought before it becomes a story.
It is the space where awareness expands beyond habit.

    Take 15 minutes today.
    Sit. Breathe. Observe.
And you may begin to see
what the sutra has been pointing to all along.

    它在哪裡?
    它會不會變?
    它有沒有一個固定的中心?

    你會發現
    它像一陣風,來來去去;
    像水面的波紋,起起落落。

    當不再緊抓「這是我的痛」,
    痛,開始鬆動。

    正念教我們:

    不要把暫時的感覺,
    當成真實不變的自己。

    願我們在每一次不舒服之中,
    多一分覺察,少一分執取。

    痛或許還在,
    但心,可以不再受困。

  • The Lotus Sutra and Mindfulness Meditation

    Peace and light to you.

The Mindful Heart Podcast — Season 6, Episode 8 is now live.

In this episode, we explore a passage from the —
a moment when the Buddha emits a great light, illuminating countless worlds…
and yet, everyone present shares the same thought:

    “Who should we ask?”

This is not just a question in a sutra.
It is the moment we all recognize—

when something happens in life that we cannot explain,
and the mind rushes to find answers, certainty, control.

But Maitreya Bodhisattva does something different.
    He does not react.
    He observes his own doubt,
he senses the uncertainty of others,
    and then turns toward wisdom.

In this episode, we don’t just interpret the text—
we bring it into a mindfulness practice.

You’ll be guided to sit with uncertainty,
    to stay with the breath,
and to discover something most of us avoid:

Clarity does not come from having all the answers.
It comes from not collapsing in the face of not knowing.

With listeners now across 107 countries,
this space continues to grow—not in noise, but in awareness.

At the end of the episode,
we invite you into a guided meditation—
to rest in the present moment,
and let awareness become your own light.

If this episode gives you even a moment of stillness,
    that is enough.

The Mindful Heart

  • The Lotus Sutra and Mindfulness Meditation

    The Mindful Heart Podcast
    Season 6 · Episode 7
    The Lotus Sutra
“At that time, Bodhisattva Maitreya thought to himself:
‘Now the World-Honored One displays these miraculous signs.
For what cause and condition has such an auspicious manifestation appeared?
    The Buddha has entered samādhi
this is inconceivable, a rare event.
Whom should I ask? Who can answer this?’
    He then reflected further:
‘Mañjuśrī, the son of the Dharma King, has attended and made offerings to countless Buddhas in the past.
He must have seen such signs before. I shall now ask him.’”
Sometimes, life presents us with moments like this
unexpected changes, unexplainable emotions, situations we cannot fully grasp.
Our instinct is to rush toward answers,
    to force understanding,
to resolve uncertainty as quickly as possible.
    But Maitreya did not.
    He paused.
    He observed.
He questioned without clinging to his own conclusions.
And then, he turned toward wisdom.
This is not just a passage from a sutra.
It is a way of meeting life.
    Mindfulness Practice
Take a moment to sit quietly. Let your breath move naturally.
    Breathing in
know that you are breathing in.
    Breathing out
know that you are breathing out.
When a thought arises, do not push it away.
    Simply ask:
“Where did this thought come from?”
    No need to answer.
    Just observe.
    When you stop forcing understanding,
    clarity begins to emerge.
    You may discover
the answer is not something you find,
    but something that appears
    when you return to awareness.
May we all learn from Maitreya
to remain undisturbed in the face of change, to question without confusion,
and to keep a steady and clear mind amidst the noise of the world.
