Future City is a project-based learning program for middle school children. The idea is that children get to build a virtual city of the future. These showcase solutions to a current sustainability issue and how they can make it better.

After moving to Denver, Rebecca Spearot realized a regional Future City competition in Colorado wasn't being offered. She formed a non-profit organization to bring this creative educational opportunity to the state.

The event of the season was held this year at the Colorado School of Mines with Denise Plant as emcee. The student's innovative ideas were coming thick and fast. Ideas in providing cleaner energy, turning rainwater into drinking water, and dealing with the effects of a volcanic eruption on the local water supply.

Team Mikeilli addressed water scarcity and addresses a new solution by creating an engine-less train for the city. Spoiler alert - Team Mikeilli won!!!
