  • #132 - Setting Plans During Uncertain Times

Has the year we call "2020" turned your world upside-down? All the big plans you set for yourself at the end of 2019 were thrown out the window!

As the end of the year draws near, it's time to make plans for next year. But next year is uncertain.

With all the weirdness of 2020, many have told me that they are quite unsure as to how to plan for the future when this year has thrown them for such a loop. Some are delaying planning and almost seem paralyzed in deciding what to do next.

I hope that's not you. If it is... or if you're a little less motivated in planning for next year because you're a little gun shy in doing so... remember this...

Every year is uncertain. The future is uncertain. That's what's exciting!

We have the opportunity to create how our future is shaped, despite what happens. We're able to navigate through life's challenges and find opportunities in every experience.

Granted this year may have kicked all of us in the pants more than other years. Please don't let that get you down. You can and should make plans for your future and try things that you may not have done before. You could do what I'm doing and revisiting past goals and making improvements of current processes to have a stronger foundation.

In this episode, I share with you three of my plans for the coming year. Listen and find out what my big plans are.

Maybe what I share will spark some ideas of what direction you'd like to go. Maybe it'll spark a sense of accomplishment because you may have already completed similar goals yourself and you're not giving yourself enough credit.

What are your 2021 plans? I'd love to hear from you.

If you're on Instagram drop me a private message. If you want to see how my plans play out next year, sign up and be on my list: scrivenersolutions.com/addme.

You can always respond to the emails I send with any questions or thoughts. I truly want to get to know you better... so let's stay connected.

  • #131 - TAPP into the Power of Your Team with Linda Guild

Teamwork is essential to any business. Whether you have a small or large team, how your team works together as well as how you lead your team has a lot to do with the success of your business.

As a coach, consultant, or small service-based business owner, when it's time to scale your business, it can be a daunting thought to hire full-time employees. Big questions pop in your mind like:

Can I afford to hire anyone? Can I fill their workday?

Many of us who choose to work from anywhere and want to scale our businesses will choose to get started with our team-building with a part-time employment relationship, a freelancer, or an independent contractor (or a combination).

When it comes to resources available to help make the part-time employment relationship better and stronger... they are few and far between.

In this week's podcast, I have a conversation with Linda Guild from Talented Alliance of Part-time Professionals.

Linda is an association executive with over 20 years of experience. She believes in the power of connections. Working with different associations has enabled her to learn about many industries. She is bringing the knowledge of associations to the Talented Alliance of Part-time Professionals, aka TAPP. She believes that those who work part-time, and their companies deserve to have resources which fit their situation so that the individual feels valued.

The Scrivener Solutions team is comprised of primarily part-time employees. There's a lot of advantages for both the employee and the company to have the flexibility that part-time employment offers. But for as many advantages, there are just as many challenges to overcome.

Linda and I had a lovely conversation about the empty space that TAPP is filling. It's not just a matter of companies knowing how to best utilize the skills of their part-time employees, but also a fantastic resource for individuals who are or want to be part-time employees.

    Enjoy!

  • #130 - Don't Underestimate the Importance of One

In a time where, as online solopreneurs, we pressure ourselves to have the highest number of followers, a huge email list, tons of subscribers, there's little emphasis on the importance of ONE.

There's a tendency to compare ourselves with our online mentors. We see their lists of thousands and hundreds of thousands of followers. The problem with the comparison game is we begin to feel terrible where we're at in our journey. We overlook the fact that our online mentor has been working at it longer than we have.

The comparison game has us looking at what we don't have instead of celebrating what we do have.

Listen as I share examples of how focusing on "one" leads to significant growth toward reaching your goals.

    Embrace one...

    Celebrate one...

    Learn from one...

    Grow from one...

Don't underestimate the importance of one. And certainly, don't underestimate the importance of each relationship you form. Appreciate and reflect on your collection of "one moments" that created ripples of opportunity in your life.

    One has significance.

  • #128 - Bike Fun Not Fast

If you listened to episode 126, you would have heard that Robert and I were going to check off our bucket lists bicycling across the state of Missouri on the Katy Trail. The Katy is the longest of all the rails to trails paths in the U.S. with approximately 237 miles of continuous trail.

We made it! The adventure was truly a test of our endurance. Our adventure had its fair share of obstacles, but we didn't let that dampen our spirits.

Now that we've finished our journey, other life obstacles don't seem so bad.

Listen as I share three lessons I learned from cycling 308 miles on Missouri trails.

    1. You must unplug in order to recharge.
    2. You don't need fancy, expensive equipment to do BIG things.
    3. Bike fun not fast.

What has been on your bucket list that you finally took the plunge to accomplish? Big or small...I'd love to hear from you. Hop over to Instagram and leave a private message. Or, if you'd rather, drop me an email at [email protected]
