We’re switching up the format of this podcast a tiny bit because as we head into the fall season, things are even busier than they were during the summer. The only difference is that after a few episodes where I(Val Kelly/Squackyvoice) interview people – as usual, there will be a shorter episode with just me talking about a relevant VO topic for 10 minutes or less! 
In today's episode, I talk about finding balance and staying positive in what can sometimes be an overwhelming world. I felt this was especially appropriate right now - as kids are going back to school and we're all trying to balance work with teaching!! I hope this episode helps you to realize that everything will be ok and that sometimes all you need to do is take a moment to breathe!!

In Part 1 of this episode of "Live with Squacky", professional voice actress and podcast host, Val Kelly chats with Liz de Nesnera. Liz is a super pro when it comes to booking VO work in two languages! She grew up in a multi-lingual family, with parents that were both native French speakers. Liz brings her years of experience working at the French embassy trade office, then as a radio station Copywriter/Production Director, and ultimately corporate recording studio Producer/Casting Director up to the mic. She records phone system prompts, medical and technical narrations, eLearning modules, explainer videos, as well as, of course, TV and radio commercials – in both English and French. Liz is extremely business savvy and talented.

In Part 1 of this great episode, Val asks Liz about being a successful voice actor while living in a non- major market. 15 years in as a full time voice actor and with a great, broadcast quality home studio at her fingertips, Liz really knows how to run her business. "Sara is a THREE time Emmy Nominated Casting Director, Dialogue Director and Voiceover Coach. She is currently casting ANIMANIACS and LOONEY TUNES CARTOONS for Warner Bros Animation; casting and voice directing THE CUPHEAD SHOW for Netflix and TIG N SEEK for Cartoon Network. She has also recently worked on two projects for Nickelodeon Animation and 5 Cartoon Network shorts.”

“Before that, she was Jon Stewart's Head of Casting for his animated project with HBO. However, the majority of her casting career was at Disney Television Animation, where she spent 12 years learning how to cast an animated series.” 

“She was the Executive Director of Casting and Talent Relations before leaving at the beginning of 2017.  She has worked on such hit shows as BIG HERO 6: THE SERIES, TANGLED EVER AFTER, MILO MURPHY’S LAW, PHINEAS AND FERB, GRAVITY FALLS, and STAR VS THE FORCES OF EVIL – just to name a few!!”

In this episode of "Live with Squacky", professional voice actress and podcast host, Val Kelly chats with the multi-talented actor, writer, producer, Jimmy Doom. Jimmy started out as the vocalist of legendary Detroit punk band “The Almighty Lumberjacks of Death” while occasionally appearing in independent, underground, straight to VHS "cinema". After the band's breakup and a brief tenure on an axle assembly line, Jimmy took advantage of an indefinite layoff to return to acting. The first "name" actor he had the privilege of working with was David Carradine, whom he met virtually seconds before they began their first scene in a film now known as "Dark Fields". Doom is also actively involved in a great comedy project called The T.R.U.T.H. Show, a parody conspiracy experience.  T.R.U.T.H.cast . He’s on the first episode as Mr.Dr.Terri O'Reilli. It's unscripted and very irreverent and has become an entire fictional universe since the time of its inception. Jimmy is an exceptionally talented actor, writer and producer.

In this interview, Val asks Jimmy about how he got started in the industry, character development, being able to take direction, writing advice, the film scene in Detroit, superheros, his upcoming films, and so much more! This was a really fun interview and Jimmy offered tons of valuable industry advice!
