Living Between Wednesdays

Rachelle, creator of the comic book blog Living Between Wednesdays, and Dave, manager of the Strange Adventures comic shop in Halifax, Nova Scotia, share their love of all things comic book and super hero related.

This week Dave the birthday boy and Rachelle list their ten favourite (and five least favourite) Marvel characters. Also discussed in this episode: the Hana-Barbara comic series announcement at DC, who might be 'Dead No More' at Marvel, and Rachelle is horrified by the Lego: Marvel's Avengers video game. Also: Mitchell returns to give his two cents on Marvel characters, and Rachelle laments being home after a lovely time in Toronto.

It's finally happened! Tiina Johns has returned to the Living Between Wednesdays podcast to talk about Jessica Jones! It turns into a bit of a broader (get it?) conversation about hero ladies on television. Also discussed this week: the Suicide Squad trailer, a new look for Captain America, the return of Winter Soldier to comics, and Hillary and Dave discuss the first two episode of the new X-Files.

This week Rachelle and Dave are joined by Dave's Love Associate, Hillary Titley to discuss The X-Files. Hillary might love The X-Files more than anyone else on Earth. Dave barely gets a word in for this entire episode.

Before they get to The X-Files, important things are discussed like David Bowie, Alan Rickman, the Golden Globes, why The Martian/Matt Damon shouldn't win the Oscar, the Wizard World New Orleans Captain America: Civil War panel, and that dumb new Batman vs Superman clip.

After a string of movie-heavy episodes, Dave and Rachelle get back to their first love: comic books! This week they discuss books that have great writing, but not-so-great art, and books with bad writing but great art! Is it a mean topic? Kind of, yes. But they try to be loving about it.

Also this week: there's a lot of Captain America: Civil War stuff happening at Wizard World New Orleans, and Rachelle makes plans to watch the Golden Globes just in case she can catch a glimpse of Sebastian Stan in a tux.

Dave and Rachelle are back after a one week Christmas hiatus and they are PUMPED for 2016! In the second half of the show they list some super hero-related things they are excited about that are coming up this year. In the first half they talk about the latest news and gossip, and bid a fond farewell to Captain America: White. Rachelle misses it already.

Major Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers here! So don't listen if you haven't seen it yet! At least don't listen to the second half! Rachelle and Dave both loved it. Also discussed: the trailers for Star Trek and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Henry Cavill's boring online gaming obsession, the definition of 'Mary Sue' and the extremely hot new Hot Toys Civil War figures that were unveiled this week (including one James B. Barnes).

This week Rachelle and Dave get excited about Star Wars. Or, more excited, anyway. No spoilers here! This was recorded and released before The Force Awakens opens. Comic books are also discussed, as well as Chris Hemsworth.

The year is reaching its end! There's nothing but Christmas and Star Wars left! Dave and Rachelle roll out their Best of 2015 lists, which combined give you twenty outstanding comic books and superhero movies and shows that have come out of 2015. They also talk about the Batman vs Superman trailer, the Civil War coverage in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, and Rachelle predicts the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 soundtrack listing.

THE CIVIL WAR TRAILER IS HERE!!! THE CIVIL WAR TRAILER IS HERE!!!

Rachelle and Dave are joined by J.BONE to gush about the amazing Civil War teaser trailer that FINALLY dropped this week. They also talk about Dark Knight III, but mostly the Civil War trailer. This is a very important episode.

It's Local Comic Shop Day this week and that got Rachelle and Dave reminiscing about our their childhood relationships with comics and comic shops.

Also discussed on this episode: Jessica Jones (no spoilers except slight ones for the first episode), Dark Knight III, Justice League Dark, Sebastian Stan's adventures in China, Anthony Mackie being dumb about feminism, and a bunch of very important Chris Hemsworth news. We also talk about the comics we read this week, of course. Another big week for the ladies of Marvel and for Jason Aaron.
