Do you ever feel like no matter how how hard you work, it's never enough? I've definitely been there! And here's the thing: we will never feel like we've truly done enough if we do not first define what "enough" actually means. So, what does "enough" look like for you today? Your answer might change in different seasons, but it's always so important that we let enough be enough and give ourselves permission to rest.
Here are some questions to help you do this practically:

I'm so excited to have my real-life friend Krista Gilbert joining us today! Krista is a life coach who's passionate about leadership, home, and family. She is the author of Reclaiming Home (which I highly recommend!) and equips moms by coupling the practical with the inspirational. Full of stories and energy, Krista connects with women on and off stage around such topics as cultivating a healthy home, leading a strong family, living life with purpose, and nurturing the relationships that matter most in our lives. Our conversation touches on all of these things, and I hope it will encourage you and speak to your heart like it spoke to mine.

What if I told you that you have 168 hours to spend every single week? Although that may feel impossible, it's true! In fact, even after subtracting 56 hours for sleep and 40-50 hours for work, that still leaves over 60 expendable hours each week. So why do we feel like we're spread so thin? Why don't we ever seem to have time for the things we want to do? It all depends on how you plan to spend those free hours. Time is elastic – we stretch it to hold the things that matter most in the moment. So if the way you spend your time is not reflecting your priorities, you may need to allow those priorities to dictate how you spend your time. Living lighter requires intentional planning to craft the life you want. You can do this!

It can be so easy on the difficult days to disqualify yourself – believe me, I've been there a time or two (or three!) But friends, we are not disqualified. Today we look at Rahab's story and how God called and qualified her, even though she was probably the last person anyone would have chosen to be written into the lineage of Jesus. Like Rahab, we can choose boldness in place of the most broken parts of our story. The world needs more women who choose a life of "and," speaking authentically about how they're really doing and sharing the stories of women who God uses despite all the odds. After all… if God used Rahab, why not you?

I am so excited to have my friend Mary Marantz as our very first guest on the Living Lighter podcast! Mary's story is absolutely incredible. She grew up in a single wide trailer in rural West Virginia before making it all the way to the hallowed halls of Yale Law School… only to find she still didn't feel like enough. Over the past five years she's been figuring out how to separate her worth from her achievements, and now she's helping other women do the same through her new book Slow Growth Equals Strong Roots. Mary is so full of wisdom and if you're anything like me, you'll be hanging on every word as she encourages us to live in authenticity, freedom, and purpose apart from our accomplishments.

How do we set ourselves up for success each evening so we can enjoy a more productive tomorrow? And not just a day that's productive but happier, lighter, and more joy-filled? The key is how you spend the hour before you go to bed. While many may think the first hour of your day is the most important, it's actually the last one! Here's a simple, 5-minute exercise to try before you fall asleep tonight:
Minute 1: Write down 3 things you are thankful for today.
Minute 2: Write down what you've accomplished today.
Minute 3: Assess how you did today.
Minute 4: What is one thing you did today that got you closer to your goal?
Minute 5: What would you like to accomplish tomorrow?

This episode is all about Revenge Bedtime Procrastination, a phenomenon that affects a lot of people (especially moms). Do you find yourself sacrificing sleep at night for leisure time because you don't have any during the day? I've definitely been there, but I can tell you that you don't have to stay there! Imagine how much healthier you would be if you rested when your body told you to, or what it would do for your marriage if you spent your evenings with your spouse instead of Netflix. It is possible, mama! With intentional planning and a consistent bedtime routine, you can trade sustained exhaustion for sustainable rest.

Have you ever wanted to do something just for you but felt like you couldn't? Maybe it's trying a totally new style or visiting a brand new place… for me, it was dying my hair pink. I remember sitting in the chair of my hairstylist of 10 years, lamenting the fact that I'd "missed my window" for a bright pop of color. She looked me straight in the eyes and told me: "Stop being timid." Those words completely shifted my perspective, and now I've had pink hair for years! Whatever is in your heart that you've been too afraid to do, friend, do it. Take the leap and enjoy the freedom of living as your most authentic you.

Hey mama! Welcome to the very first episode of the Living Lighter podcast. If we haven't met yet, I'm Teresa! I'm an author, creative, mom of six (I know, whaaaaa?!) and total Bible nerd. As a working mom and entrepreneur, I spent way too many years living in survival mode. Now I'm passionate about equipping women to live a legacy of health and margin – basically the total opposite of the "hot mess mom" life. I am so excited you're here and that we're not on this journey alone. Let's pursue radical rest as we learn to live lighter together.
