Locked On Islanders - Daily Podcast On The New York Islanders

While there are plenty of rumors concerning Brock Nelson, Kyle Palmieri, and even Noah Dobson, there have also been rumors that two Western Conference teams are in interested in veteran New York Islanders center J.G. Pageau.  We discuss whether it makes sense to move on from Pageau at the NHL Trade Deadline, what teams are interested and what the Isles could get in return.

Plus, with Marcus Hogberg and Semyon Varlamov both still injured, the New York Islanders will need a backup goalie until one of them returns. Who could back up Ilya Sorokin?

And the Four Nations Tournament Final is set, we discuss that and Brock Nelson now wearing an "A" on his sweater for Team USA.

All this and more on today's Locked On Islanders Podcast with Gil Martin.

The New York Islanders had high hopes for free agent addition Anthony Duclair when they signed him this offseason. Unfortunately, "The Duke" has struggled on the ice. Today, we analyze his struggles and explain why he's not to blame for his disappointing play thus far in 2024-25.

We also discuss the Isles top goalie prospect according to "The Athletic", in Marcus Gidlof. We break down his strengths and weaknesses and discuss how far away he is from being NHL ready.

And we discuss the most important thing for Brock Nelson in the Four Nations Tournament and he and Team USA played their first game Thursday night against Finland.

Can the New York Islanders secure a playoff spot with their current lineup? With the team trailing Detroit by just four points for the second wild card position, the stakes are high. The Islanders' playoff chances, goalie Ilya Sorokin's impressive .926 save percentage, and Noah Dobson's contract situation are at the forefront of this discussion.

Host Gil Martin explores whether the Islanders should consider retooling before the trade deadline, given the team's current performance ceiling.

We also have injury updates on key players like Anthony Duclair and Ryan Pollock which add another layer of complexity to the Islanders' playoff push. Will the Islanders make the necessary moves to strengthen their roster or should they retool? Tune in for an in-depth analysis of the New York Islanders' path to success and the strategic decisions that could shape their season.
