Locked On MLB - Daily Podcast On Major League Baseball

The Astros, led by George Springer, and the Dodgers, with ace Hyun-Jin Ryu, may have already locked up the West for their teams.

Meanwhile, the Nationals and Mets might be getting new managers soon, I introduce "Marlins Minute" and ask a pizza etiquette question.

Dallas Keuchel and Craig Kimbrel are still available. Virtually every single contending team could use them right now. But teams are gun shy to give up a draft pick for them. I know draft picks are valuable. But are they worth delaying a signing for an experienced major leaguer?

I review the night's games including Vlad Jr's first two homers. And once again, I make a case for the Nationals to make a managerial change. I brought up a name familiar to Washington: Dusty Baker.

It is my birthday! And I am spending it at my favorite place: A baseball game. More specifically at Oracle Park in San Francisco to see the Giants play the Reds.

After the game, I thought about what I would do if I were commissioner of baseball. I had some thoughts on the matter.

It is only mid May but the American League looks like it falling into place without a lot of surprises. Meanwhile the National League could be another total free for all.

Plus I wonder if the Mets and Nationals should consider swapping managers. It COULD work!

When baseball acts logically, whether it is in terms of stadium construction or strategy, the reasoning can be sound. But when baseball embraces a lack of logic and irrationality, it can be so much more fun.

Today, we look around the league, including Martin Perez and his great start with the Twins, the red hot Rays, the dormant NL East and bees swarming the Reds and Giants game.

Meanwhile, I wonder if swapping Chris Davis for Yu Darvish could be a "Change will do you good" deal for two slumping players.
