Locked On Panthers - Daily Podcast On The Carolina Panthers

Despite the the trade for former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, there is a lot of discussion surrounding the Carolina Panthers whether the Carolina Panthers should still draft a quarterback with the eight overall pick. Does that make sense or should the team be focused on building around Darnold?

The Panthers are still in need of help on the defensive line, particularly at defensive tackle. Current free agent Kawann Short and the team left the door for a return. Is now the time for the two engage in talks?

The Panthers checked off another box this offseason by signing former Pro Bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye to a two-year deal.

Now that the Panthers have added a quarterback and starting cornerback, does that free up the organization to focus on drafting a franchise left tackle, like Oregon's Penei Sewell, at eight overall?

Three weeks away from the NFL Draft, how do the Panthers stack up in the NFC South and the NFC as a whole? Are the playoffs a realistic goal for this team heading into 2021?

Sam Darnold is now the Carolina Panthers quarterback but will he be in 2022? How much of a leash will the Panthers give Darnold if he struggles to live up to expectations?

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule dubbed Teddy Bridgewater as his quarterback last year and only a few weeks ago. Now, Bridgewater is set to find a new home outside of Carolina. How much pressure should Panthers owner David Tepper place on Matt Rhule and general manager Scott Fitterer if another quarterback choice falters?

In his press conference following the trade for Darnold, Fitterer spoke about the options that the trade provided the organization when it comes to the 8th overall pick. What are those options? Left tackle? Trade back? Cornerback?

Sam Darnold is set to be the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback in 2021. Following a tumultuous start to his career with three less than stellar seasons in New York, can Matt Rhule, Joe Brady, and the Panthers offensive weapons allow Darnold the opportunity to reach his potential or will his issues in New York carryover?

The Panthers flirted with multiple quarterbacks this offseason before settling on Darnold. Do the Panthers have a clear plan or will they be back in 2022 playing quarterback musical chairs?

Life comes at you fast. Teddy Bridgewater thought that he had the opportunity to start in Carolina for at least two seasons. Well, following the trade for Darnold that is unlikely to be the case. What is next for Teddy? Will the Panthers be able to trade away his contract without taking on unwanted money?

The Carolina Panthers have traded a 2021 sixth-round pick along with 2022 second and fourth-round picks to the New York Jets for quarterback Sam Darnold.

Does this mean that Sam Darnold will be the Week 1 starter in Carolina? Were Darnold's issues because of Adam Gase and the poor situation in New York or were they on him? How does Darnold fit into the Panthers offense? Does Darnold provide an immediate upgrade from Teddy Bridgewater? Where do the Panthers now do at 8?

NFL Pro Days roll on. Kyle Pitts showed out at his in Gainesville. Would it be crazy for the Panthers to draft Pitts at 8 given the other positional needs on the roster? Or does his talent outweigh any other concerns on the roster?

The Athletic's Baltimore Ravens reporter Jeff Zrebiec suggests that the Panthers offering the 39th overall pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft could potentially be enticing enough for the Ravens to trade left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. Are the Panthers better off trading for a proven tackle or drafting one later this month in what is perceived to be a deep class?
