Locked On Pistons - Daily Podcast On The Detroit Pistons

Host Matt Schoch is tired of the Boston Celtics, and definitely a little jealous too.

How come we can't have our own Brad Stevens, an innovator on the cutting edge of the basketball world. These are dark times.

We also give an update on the Pistons GT e-sports and take a look back at the final playoff win of the Bad Boys era in Pistons Playoff Playback.

What is going on with the secret meetings in California?

Detroit Pistons fans are being forced to guess for themselves as there's been nothing from the team about what coach Stan Van Gundy and owner Tom Gores are deciding about for the franchise's future.

We also take a look back in Pistons Playoff Playback at a playoff season that provided hope for the future - although it was false hope, as it turned out.

Isiah Thomas is the greatest Piston ever.

He was already a three-time All-Star by the time the 1984 playoffs rolled around, but during an epic showdown with Bernard King of the New York Knicks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, Zeke served notice that he was here to stay.

That's our Pistons Playoff Playback moment for today, 34 years ago on Friday as Zeke scored 16 points in 94 seconds at Joe Louis Arena in a loss.

We also update the Stan Van Gundy mysterious meeting situation and look back on an amazing Wednesday night of NBA playoff action, including incredible nights from LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

We may have seen the final acts of the fantastic NBA careers of two legends on Tuesday night.

But well before they were wily veterans, Manu Ginobili and Dwyane Wade had quite the histories with the Detroit Pistons when they were relevant - which really puts in perspective just how old those guys are.

Host Matt Schoch tributes those players and passes along some memories of their battles with the Goin' To Work era teams.

We also run down the NBA playoffs action and highlight another Pistons Playoff Playback memory, a forgotten season in the beginning years of the Bad Boys juggernaut.

Host Matt Schoch gets asked a lot about specific trades and moves the Detroit Pistons should make and here's one for you: The player who could help add an element of toughness to the team as a free agent pick-up this summer.

He would replace Anthony Tolliver in the frontcourt at less of a cost commitment and a higher upside.

We also take a look at the Pistons place in the Detroit sports hierarchy, where they stack up in worst NBA situations, and what playoff teams might need shakeups this offseason too.

We also take a look back in the recent history for today's Pistons Playoff Playback.

Since Detroit Pistons fans can't have the experience of knowing they will root for Donovan Mitchell, let's talk to someone who is living it.

Hilarious comedian J-L Cauvin is from New York City but somehow became a Utah Jazz fan and has thoughts on Stockton and Malone, Mitchell's shocking rookie season, dominant video game plays and the rise of the 3-pointer in hoops.

As a bonus, Cauvin also set up an interview with President Trump, who happened to be in J-L's hotel room in Tampa with him on Sunday.

Host Matt Schoch also has today's Pistons Playoff Playback, a memorable Goin' To Work era triumph.

Mike Stone, "Stoney" of the Jamie and Stoney show on weekday mornings on 97.1 The Ticket, joins us to talk Stan Van Gundy, the current Detroit Pistons era, the Philadelphia sports scene and of course, Bruce Springsteen.

Host Matt Schoch also has some LeBron James revelations and a tribute to coach Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs, who lost his wife, Erin, on Wednesday.

We also have some fun with Pistons Playoff Playback, going back to 2002 for the first playoff win of the Goin to Work era against Hakeem Olajuwon and the Toronto Raptors (?).

Matt also reveals a secret about Ben Wallace that might shock podcast listeners.

Are the Detroit Pistons making a major mistake in not moving to find a new coach, as a potential coaching star in Jerry Stackhouse is available... for now?

The former Pistons volume scorer has been coaching the Raptors 905 in the G League for two seasons, and is reportedly on the top of the list for openings in New York, Charlotte and Orlando.

Host Matt Schoch talks about what kidney reputation he has, what kind of coach he could be and what this delay could mean for Stan Van Lundy's future in Detroit.

We also run down Tuesday's NBA playoff action, including a possible Andre Drummond trade destination, a John Wall vs. Blake Griffin conversation, and what does the Pelicans late-season and playoff run mean for the reputation of Boogie Cousins.

Today In Pistons Playoff History goes back to 1976 and the last victorious series win for the franchise in the pre-Bad Boys era.

A recent tweet by an NBA analyst proclaiming Luke Kennard as the worst pick of the first round in the 2017 NBA Draft had Pistons fans up in arms.

But how accurate was it?

Check out LockedOnPistons.com for a rundown of the re-picking of the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft and see where Luke would fall these days. Do you agree with where we have him?

Host Matt Schoch will run down Monday's playoff action and look ahead to Tuesday. We also debut our Today In Pistons Playoff History segment, where we'll be talking about happier times for the franchise. The first installment takes us back to 1984 and the beginning of something very good for the Isiah Thomas era.

Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets had a lot of big moments in his breakout fourth NBA season.

But above all the other big shots was the one he hit in January to knock off the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Drafted by the Pistons, Dinwiddie never really got much of a shot with coach Stan Van Lundy's team.

Host Matt Schoch also has a rundown of the weekend's NBA playoff action, and interesting post-mortem press clippings on the Pistons from The Athletic, the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press.
