In Episode 1296, Sean Woodley is joined by Katie Heindl (DIME, Basketball Feelings) to discuss the weird start to the Toronto Raptors season and how the lack of clear and defined expectations for this year's team might be playing into the contentious vibe that seems to be surrounding it after a 12-12 start. Off the top, they chat about what they think the front office's expectations for the season are, and whether the lack of a clear and defined goal like the team has had in some recent seasons is to blame for the angst that seems to be following the team around after just about every loss. They then attempt to set what the actual expectations should be so you, the fan, can react accordingly when things go right or wrong. Lastly, they chat about the weirdness around the contract situations with the struggling Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., and how those bits of uncertainty are playing into the strange vibes as well. Lastly, a reminder that the Raptors ain't special: every team is weird this year, so maybe it's all good?

In Episode 1295, Sean Woodley is joined by Vivek Jacob (Raptors.com) to break down the Toronto Raptors' 116-110 loss to the Boston Celtics that started out wonderfully but took a turn for the worse during a third quarter Jayson Tatum explosion. Off the top, they dig into their biggest takeaways from the game against the Celtics, and try to make sense of Fred VanVleet's prolonged shooting slump and whether it's a long term concern. Next, they chat about what's lacking in Toronto's starting lineup of late, whether Christian Koloko is really ready for full-time starter duty, and what other looks they'd like to see to begin games. Should Gary Trent Jr. get his starting gig back? Or should Thad Young get re-inserted as the small-ball five? Lastly, they run through the Good, the Bad and the Hmm from the loss, and discuss the overall confusing nature of this year's Raptors team. Where do the continuity issues begin and the real, legit concerns start?

In Episode 1294, Sean Woodley goes solo to break down the Toronto Raptors' 1-1 weekend that featured a tough loss to the Brooklyn Nets that featured a miserable 41-17 first quarter deficit, and get well win against the very bad Orlando Magic. Off the top, Sean digs into why a lack of continuity has really felt to blame for the Raptors' recent duds against good New Orleans Pelicans and Nets teams, and why things began to look up in that department in the back part of the Brooklyn game, bleeding into the win at home against the Magic. Next, Sean talks about the many ups and downs of Christian Koloko, and why this weekend's games all but confirmed the Raptors will need to explore more steady rim protection options if they want to reach their true ceiling this season. Lastly, Sean hands out the Good (Scotteie Barnes playing with joy again), the Bad (Fred VanVleet's shooting woes) and the Hmm (Gary Trent Jr.'s bench gig looking to be permanent) to round out the show.

In Episode 1293, Sean Woodley is joined by Vivek Jacob (Raptors.com) to play a new classic Locked On Raptors Parlour Game: One Gotta Go, Toronto Raptors edition. The concept is simple! Sean lays out a question with three options to choose from, and he and Vivek must choose the worst of the bunch, aka which one gotta go! Raptors fifth options to close games, one gotta go: Gary Trent Jr., Thad Young OR Chris Boucher? Raptors back-end rotation options, one gotta go: Christian Koloko, Khem Birch OR Malachi Flynn? Raptors to take the final shot of a tie game, one gotta go: O.G. Anunoby, Fred VanVleet OR Scottie Barnes? Great Toronto Raptors passers, one gotta go: Thad Young, Scottie Barnes OR Marc Gasol? Teams to fear in the Eastern Conference, one gotta go: Atlanta, Cleveland OR Philadelphia? Surprising teams in the Eastern Conference, one gotta go: Washington, Indiana OR Brooklyn?
It's really fun, OK?

In Episosde 1292, Sean Woodley and Jamar Hinds (Raptors Republic) put a bow on the 10 games the Torotnto Raptors played without their superstar Pascal Siakam, and hand out some awards and superlatives to the Raptors who did in fact contribute to the Raptors' 5-5 stretch without their All-NBA player. Off the top, they grade the team's overall performance in the 10 games without Siakam, as they used grime, math chicanery and some strong efforts from O.G. Anunoby, Thad Young and more to scrape by with a 5-5 record despite some troubling underlying numbers. Next, they determine who on the team were the biggest depth chart risers and fallers. Is Thad Young in line to be a full-time starting center? And did Malachi Flynn lose his shot at regular backup point guard minutes after a promising stretch early on in Siakam's absence? Lastly, they determine which of the 10 games Toronto played was the best game, and which game Siakam's absence was felt the most.

In Episode 1291, Sean Woodley breaks down the Toronto Raptors' 100-88 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers as Pascal Siakam (groin) and Scottie Barnes (knee) both returned the floor for the home side. Off the top, Sean digs into why despite an impressive Siakam return, it was O.G. Anunoby who was the real stand out for the Raptors, putting on a clinic on the defensive end while pouring in an efficient 20 points to lead all scorers. Next, Sean does dive into Siakam's 18-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist return which featured a whole lot of a joy, and a whole lot of silky pull-up mid-range jumpers for the Raptors superstar playing his first game since slipping on the floor in Dallas 10 games ago. Is it a coincidence that the Raptors looked markedly improved on both ends of the floor at the same time their best player returned to the floor? Hard to say, really. Lastly, Sean hands out the Good (Scottie Barnes also returning to the floor), the Bad (the fact that Thad Young can't throw passes to cutters on every single possession of every single game) and the Hmmm (Gary Trent Jr. coming off the bench) to round out the show.

In Episode 1290, Sean Woodley goes solo to break down the Toronto Raptors' gutsy 105-100 win over Luka Dončić and the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. Off the top, Sean digs into how the Raptors stay convicted in their approach to guarding the Mavs' superstar, and how in spite of O.G. Anunoby's brilliance on both ends of the floor, this game was really won with the back-end rotations of Fred VanVleet, Thad Young, Chris Boucher and Juancho Hernangomez. Next, Sean examines the growing number of truly ridiculous stats that outline how brutally efficient they've been in winning the possession battle each and every night. With 17 offensive boards, another really rough shooting night, and 15 more field goal attempts than their opponents on the night, the Raptors continue to be something of a basketball math cheat code. Lastly, Sean hands out the Good (Fred VanVleet hitting milestones!), the Bad (Malachi Flynn losing the rope a bit) and the Hmm (Khem Birch's wily operation as a roll man) to round out the show.

In Episode 1289, Sean Woodley breaks down the Toronto Raptors' 112-98 loss to the Brooklyn Nets in which they were without Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Scottie Barnes and four other roster players. Off the top, Sean details the Good (O.G. Anunoby levelling up on drives), the Bad (the complete lack of meaning from any of these injury-ridden games) and the Hmm (Juancho Hernangomez making a play for rotation minutes) from the game against Brooklyn before moving on from that game never to speak of it again. Next, Sean hands out the Dude of the Week to Thad Young, who has been instrumental in the Raptors treading water since Pascal Siakam went down, and figures to be a much bigger part of the team's plans once they start to get some healthy bodies back on the floor. Lastly, Sean fields a trio of listener questions about how then injury bug could impact the trade deadline, Nick Nurse's performance so far this year, and Thad Young's theoretical trade value. Get healthy, lads.

In Episode 1288, Sean Woodley is joined by Katie Heindl (DIME, Basketball Feelings) to discuss Nick Nurse's comments on Tuesday about Gary Trent Jr.'s defensive struggles this season before examining Trent's long-term outlook with the Toronto Raptors. Off the top, they chat about Nurse once again busting out his tough love approach to Trent as he gets set to return to the lineup against the Brooklyn Nets. Overall, seems pretty par for the course, and based on Trent's struggles on both ends to start the year, he's not exactly wrong! Plus, they run through some of the troubling numbers both basic and advanced for Trent through the first chunk of the season, and discuss just how much the return of Pascal Siakam could help GTJ return to form. Lastly, they take a look Trent's future with the team this season and beyond. The next couple months are likely to determine whether the former Duke guard is a long-term member of Toronto's core -- will he work his way back into Toronto's plans? Or is he more likely to get traded at the deadline before his potential free agency this summer? All that and more!

In Episode 1287, Sean Woodley is joined by James Herbert (CBS Sports) to talk about what we've learned about Toronto Raptors wings O.G. Anunoby and Scottie Barnes while Pascal Siakam has been sidelines, as well as how the Raptors are thriving as a team of extremes. Off the top (2:00), Sean and James chat about Anunoby, how Siakam's time out of the lineup has clarified what his ideal role on the team should be, and whether the DPOY hype is legit. Next (11:45), they talk about Barnes, whose ideal role has not become so crystallized in Siakam's time away, and why that is OK. Should the Raptors continue testing Barnes' limits in all facets of his game, or look at narrowing his development track? Lastly (29:30), they take a look at the Raptors statisitical profile, which is very much one defined by extremes. Are the Raptors extreme by design or by accident? And is their method of possession-gaming sustainable for the long haul? All that and more on today' show!
