Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

Welcome to the biggest Suns day in years. Brandon Duenas of Bright Side of the Sun and Zona Hoops joins us to look back at how the Suns won a sloppy Game Four and to preview Game Five, including why a hot start will be important for Phoenix to end the series at home. But most importantly, we we spend a ton of time on Deandre Ayton, how his glow-up came together, what ingredients are making it work, and where he stacks up among young NBA players in recent history who broke out during the postseason, from Bam Adebayo to... Rajon Rondo?

Even with Chris Paul back, the Suns were out of rhythm in a 106-92 Game Three loss to the Clippers, with Paul out of sync and Devin Booker seeming to struggle with his broken nose and protective mask. The Suns were not able to find Deandre Ayton enough to make up for it, and Los Angeles hit big shots late as they have all playoffs to come away with a win and put this series at 2-1 heading into the weekend. To close, a few a things the Suns can do to adjust if Cameron Payne misses more time, including sending E'Twaun Moore to the bench and matching the Clippers' small ball lineups even more.

Get ready for Game Three of the Western Conference Finals with this crossover show with Charles Mockler of Locked On Clippers. We discuss the impending return of Chris Paul and how it could make this series more of an offensive battle, plus what might happen in the bench minutes with Cam Payne back to the second unit. We also question whether Ty Lue will once again adjust and go small with more minutes for Nic Batum and Terance Mann. If the Clippers are going to make this a series, tonight is a must-win.

After a 104-103 Suns win in Game Two of the Western Conference Finals, Brandon Duenas joins the show once again to react to the game-winning Valley Oop, Cam Payne's career night, and more. We discuss the Clippers' new starting lineup and why one part of it worked while the other didn't, how the Suns kept the momentum late in the game, and how Deandre Ayton continued to play elite two-way basketball. To close, we discuss the potential impending return of Chris Paul and what it would mean for the rest of the series.

With both the Suns and Clippers depleted, Sabreena Merchant of SB Nation joins the show to preview Game Two in Phoenix. We touch on Ty Lue coaching with confidence, how the Clippers can make Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton work harder on Tuesday night, who could fill in for Marcus Morris Sr. if he doesn't play, and why we could see Los Angeles play bigger with more Ivica Zubac while trying to outscore the Suns rather than focus on defense in Game Two.

After a 120-114 win in Game One of the Western Conference Finals, Brandon Duenas joins the show for his weekly spot to recap the game. We discuss Devin Booker's 40-point triple-double and how he adjusted over the course of the season and the game to outduel Paul George. We also hit on the Suns' defense and why it's a tougher test for L.A.'s offense than the Jazz defense was. To close, some thoughts on what Marcus Morris' injury could mean for the series and how the Clippers might try to defend Book going forward.

Brandon Duenas joins the show for a live Spotify Greenroom conversation about all things Suns heading into a big weekend in the Western Conference. Along with an early preview of the Western Conference Finals, we also hit on the news that Devin Booker will play for Team USA this summer, Willie Green potentially interviewing to be the head coach in Orlando, and the latest on the Chris Paul health and safety protocol situation. We answer listener questions and go back and forth on potential matchups with the Clippers and Jazz, including the importance of Deandre Ayton.

After a 119-111 win by the Los Angeles Clippers minus Paul George over Utah, you know it's time for a Postgame Pod. On the Jazz side, it's clear the offense is breaking down without Mike Conley in the lineup, and Royce O'Neale was badly exposed on both ends by George and the Clippers. From LA's perspective, they are starting to look scarier as they hit their stride from a depth and creativity perspective. If Kawhi Leonard can come back, this team could make some noise. Lastly, why today's firings in New Orleans and Dallas show us the value of the Suns' strong culture.

We all woke up to the news that Chris Paul had landed on the NBA health and safety protocol, but how, why, and what does it mean? On today's bonus episode, you can find the most accurate answers (at this point in time).

To start the show, a rant about why it's insane that to say that these Phoenix Suns have gotten any luckier than any number of recent NBA champions, and why the criticism is so absurd. Then, Cam Cox of 12 News joins the show to discuss the ways that Chris Paul has elevated Devin Booker and the rest of this Suns team and why he's likely to stay in the Valley even if he opts out this summer. We close the show talking about what makes this Suns team unique and how it fits into the wider history of Suns basketball.
