The Minnesota Timberwolves improved their roster with smart use of their remaining cap space as NBA Free Agency began. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down the additions of Troy Brown Jr. and Shake Milton and the re-signing of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and why the Wolves are better off with that trio of players than with the departed Taurean Prince and Jaylen Nowell. Additionally, why shoring up the depth chart with modest, team-friendly deals was much smarter than doling out a large contract to one bench player and then filling out the roster with minimum salaries.

Howard Beck (@HowardBeck) joins to discuss the Naz Reid extension, the "inevitability" of a Karl-Anthony Towns trade, and more. Howard tells Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) his thoughts on the Naz deal, including why it was good value and strong asset management by Tim Connelly and the Minnesota Timberwolves front office. Also, does the Reid extension have any bearing on any potential Towns trade, and why he would be "shocked" if Towns is not traded by next February's NBA Trade Deadline.

Now that Naz Reid has signed an extension to stay with the Minnesota Timberwolves, what is the impact on the Wolves' cap sheet heading into NBA free agency? Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down the current standing of the Wolves' books, as well as the trickle-down effect that Reid's return has on the rest of the roster. Simply put, five of the top seven players on the Wolves roster are frontcourt players, and there isn't a ton of money to shore up the backcourt. Also, does this potentially squeeze Taurean Prince out of the picture?
