Locked On Wolves - Daily Podcast On The Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired a second pick during the NBA Draft and landed a pair of intriguing prospects in the second round. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down the selection of Leonard Miller from the G League Ignite -- a legitimate upside play with a solid floor as an energetic big man, potentially reminiscent of a recent former Timberwolf. Also, the Wolves kept their No. 53 pick and drafted Jaylen Clark from UCLA, one of the premier defensive players in the entire draft -- the exact player that Ben targeted with the selection earlier in the week.

Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down the latest on Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as the possibility of the Wolves pursuing former Wolf and Minnesota native Tyus Jones in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. Plus, ranking options for the Wolves with pick No. 53 and final draft night predictions.

The Minnesota Timberwolves only hold the No. 53 pick in this year's NBA Draft. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down three more intriguing prospects for the Wolves to consider in the second round: a wing in Kansas State's Keyontae Johnson, a big in Florida's Colin Castleton, and a combo guard in UCLA's Amari Bailey. It's a deep draft, and each of these players could be rotation contributors for a suddenly cash-strapped Wolves team in the near future.

The Minnesota Timberwolves hold pick No. 53 of this week's NBA Draft, and while it's impossible to predict how the draft will unfold, it's time to start looking more closely at a handful of players who are widely projected to be selected in the middle and late portions of the second round. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) examines draft prospects Jaylen Clark, Seth Lundy, and Jordan Miller and why each of them could be a fit for the Wolves.

The Minnesota Timberwolves don't have much cap space this offseason, but depending on decisions that still need to be made on their own players, there could still be two or three rotation spots to fill. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down which roles need to be figured out this summer, and then discusses some free agents that may be solid fits for the Wolves, from players who will seek a contract only slightly over the minimum to players who will surely command nearly all of the mid-level exception.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (rightfully) have a poor reputation when it comes to the NBA Draft, but a closer examination of the past decade isn't quite as depressing as one might think. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) does a 2014 redraft, as well as examines the Wolves' recent draft history. After taking a closer look, one POBO stands out as potentially the best drafter, and it comes as a mild surprise: Flip Saunders.

There's no question that the Minnesota Timberwolves would love to bring back Naz Reid in free agency. But even beyond his desired salary, is he the best basketball fit for the Wolves' roster? Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) debates the fit from a salary perspective, as well as a look at how many minutes Naz would actually play for a team that already employs two centers on max contracts. What other free agent bigs could be a better fit? Also, the many connection points between the newly-crowned NBA champion Denver Nuggets and the Timberwolves.

Any potential Karl-Anthony Towns trade would almost have to include a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. If the Minnesota Timberwolves were to move Towns and land the No. 3 (from Portland) or No. 4 pick (from Houston), Brandon Miller is likely to be on the board. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) evaluates Miller as a prospect, including the similarities and differences between him and current Wolf Jaden McDaniels as a draft prospect. Also, why Miller is likely a plug-and-play rotation piece for an NBA playoff team.

The Karl-Anthony Towns fake trade rumor mill has only just begun, and it's already getting a little wacky. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) explains why the rumors surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar big man are still important to pay attention to, including a guess at Tim Connelly's mindset surrounding the Rudy Gobert trade and the possibility of a KAT trade. Plus, thoughts on the Bleacher Report fake trade that would send Dejounte Murray and Jabari Smith Jr. to the Timberwolves in a three-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets.
