Our guest today is Catherine Fellowes, the managing agent at Movease.   

We chat about what is an excellent tenant from a property management perspective and what is the proactive approach that a managing agent can take every day.

This week we had a fascinating conversation with Grant Pierrus about all things interior design. Grant started a very successful blog back in 2015 and is now running a boutique marketing agency, specialising in marketing for interior designers.

Design was once considered a purely decorative function and he talks to us about how this has changed over the last few years to incorporate more wellness and functionality of a space, rather than just the soft furnishings.

When looking for a day school, the most important thing is making the right choice as a parent and family. We discussed this topic with the two heads of Garden House School in Chelsea, Mr. Jameson, and Mrs. Studd.

Their first advice is to visit the school in person to get a sense of the spirit of the school and understand its ethos and values. No child will remember the school because of its facilities, but rather because of what the school had to offer, the other pupils there, and the staff.

Having a selection of schools and putting the child at the centre of this decision is equally important.
Beyond the curriculum, the critical points of an education path are those learning dispositions, those ways of thinking, those habits of mind, and interdisciplinary skills, such as critical thinking and collaboration. They become as crucial as the subjects themselves.

Garden House is a unique, family-run school for girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 11. From the age of 4, the girls and boys are taught separately for most academic lessons, but they have numerous opportunities to interact with each other during the school day.

This week Farnaz shares her comments around the perception of agents in the industry and some of the misconceptions around legal obligations for tenants and owners. As we all know, moving house is one of the top most stressful events in most people's lives and this can cause frayed nerves and emotional reactions all round if not handled appropriately on both sides. 

With over thirty years of experience in property, Farnaz has seen her fair share of the good, the bad and the ugly in terms of property management and dealing with tenants. She talks about how the property industry in the UK is hampered by the low barrier to entry for new agents, with very little training needed in comparison to the US where agents are trained for two years before they are allowed to operate in the real estate industry, and how this impacts the general perception of agents as a group.

She recommends what to look for in a good property management agent or company and gives tips on the importance of communicating with tenants, especially when it comes to dealing with a problem at the property.
