If internet memes are fine wine, then Charles “The Masked Bastard” Khan is the world’s best sommelier. His careful curation of content has amassed him an audience of thousands across multiple platforms, and for good reason. Maintaining a meme empire isn’t easy though, and nobody understands that better than Charles.
But, how does one become a “meme bastard” like Charles? Turns out the answer isn’t as simple as you might think, and it involves a healthy amount of professional wrestling with a side of deplatforming. Charles also drops some hard knowledge on the value of just simply getting things done.
Then we talk a little bit about the power of simplicity – a good idea doesn’t necessarily mean a complicated one. When you start making something short that accomplishes something simple, it’s pretty easy to build that content up over time, and Charles has some great advice on how to make that happen.
Charles also opens our minds to something that often goes overlooked online: curiosity. If you want to be a content creator, and you’ve got something you’re interested in, there might be more doors open to you than you think. You don’t necessarily have to be a “YouTube person” to be on YouTube.
It’s rare to find someone in internet media who is regularly and consistently ahead of the game. Charles is one of those people. We talk a bit about healthy obsession and how that extends into good work habits, as well as the difference between being happy and being satisfied.
We close out the episode with two of our heaviest hitting and longest standing TCU questions, and Charles answers in kind. We finally get a return of the FURSONA question, and Charles gives us his fresh take on what makes an interesting person.
Thank you to everyone who tuned into this week, and thanks especially to our wonderful patrons. We couldn’t do it without you. We’ll see you all next week for an episode with THAT CHAPTER!
