We’ve all known kindness. It might have been a Sunday school teacher, or maybe it was Mom listening to our bad day.

 

But how often do you actually think about the importance of kindness? Is it an active part of your day? If not, you’re missing the point.

 

1 Corinthians 13:4–5 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

 

Real love compels us to practice kindness. A daily routine, and for the right reason. What is the right reason?

 

God tells us to be kind. This choice doesn’t depend on what the other guy

is doing. Be that person who does a lot of kind things, and his only audience is God. Try it. Try a random act of kindness, don’t let others see you do it, then reflect on how good it makes you feel.

 

That’s the best kind of kind.

Lord, your Word shows us that we are blessed with kindness from you in countless ways. Help us start to give back to those around us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
