Negative self-talk and storytelling prevent us from accessing our vulnerability, holding back cathartic truths that need to surface and convincing us that they are protecting and defending us from the dangerous unknown and unreal "other."
Can we disarm through surrender?
Can we forgive the parts of ourselves that were taught to cut first and ask questions later?
How often are we stepping back to explore some of the stories we tell ourselves about people, places, and things?
Do we ever reflect on the origin of those stories, where we learned them, whose voice narrates them, and which roles we play?
And are we ever examining the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves?
We might discover that the stories we believe are protecting us are actually harming us and cutting us off from growth, relationships, opportunities, and experience.
Maybe it's time to write a new story.
