 Gary Miles:

Gary Miles concentrates in litigation in all areas, including transportation law, serious personal injury, family law, and estate disputes. He is an active member of the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ) and has been a member of many other legal organizations. He is a trained mediator with over 120 hours in mediation training. He has participated in over 1000 mediations and settlement conferences both as counsel for one of the parties and as the facilitator. His studies featured specialized training for divorce mediation, including a focused course on child access, property and financial issues, and commercial litigation mediation. He provides mediation services to the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County; is on the approved list of mediators for the Circuit Court for Baltimore County and the Circuit Court for Howard County; and is a settlement master for the Circuit Court for Carroll County.

Gary was born and raised in the Baltimore area. He went to Loyola High School, where he was the valedictorian; to Loyola University in Baltimore where he graduated summa cum laude and top in the class with a 3.96 GPA; and to University of Maryland Law School where the earned the William Strobel Thomas award for the highest scholastic average.

Upon graduation, he served as the law clerk to the Hon. C. Stanley Blair in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He began his practice with a small firm in Maryland before joining Lerch and Huesman, the predecesor to Huesman, Jones and Miles, in 1982. He became a partner in 1986.

Active in the Maryland legal community, Gary was a mock trial judge at the University of Maryland’s East Regional Mock Trial Tournament. He has served for years as a volunteer with the Attorney Grievance Commission on its Peer Review Committee and participates in the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service. He holds an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review RatingSM from Martindale-Hubbell®.

Gary is a proud member of a blended family, with 2 children (including Buddy his law partner) and 3 stepchildren; and 5 grandchildren in his growing family. His wife Brenda is a nurse manager at a local medical facility. He and Brenda live in Cockeysville, and enjoy visiting the Pinehurst, North Carolina area regularly. He is very active with his family, and enjoys playing golf frequently.

Personal Life -

Attorney Vicki A. Jensen was born and raised in Alameda County.  Her father was a machinist and her mother worked for a cookie company.  Attorney Vicki A. Jensen worked various waitress and bartending jobs in the San Leandro and Hayward area prior to and while attending college.  

 Education - 

 Attorney Vicki A. Jensen graduated from Chabot College with Highest Honors and transfered to California State Univeristy Hayward where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Political Science minor.  She then graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned the "Outstanding Student" Award from the Psychology Department.  

 Attorney Vicki A. Jensen then moved to Los Angeles where she earned her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law.  She returned to her home town in the Bay Area and finished her legal education at Santa Clara Univeristy.

Professional History -

 Attorney Vicki A. Jensen knew early on that she wanted to practice criminal law and began gaining experience in the field while still in law school.  After she clerked for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office and then for the Santa Cruz Public Defender's Office, Attorney Vicki A. Jensen knew she wanted to build a career in criminal law practice.  After law school, she also clerked for Alameda County Public Defender's Office. 

 Attorney Vicki A. Jensen has been in private practice for over 20 years and has helped many clients get excellent results over the years. She knows the local courts well, and prides herself on being sincere and honest with her clients. She takes the time to personally connect with each client to understand their needs and concerns. 

 Attorney Vicki A. Jensen has focused her practice on criminal defense. The majority of her cases are Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI) and drug-related cases.  After years of developing her skills, Attorney Vicki A. Jensen has been an invited speaker at many seminars teaching other attorneys the finer points of DUI defense and trial advocacy. She has distinguished herself in her trial practice and active, vigorous defense of her clients.

Not too long ago, I was living the life that I thought everyone wanted to live. I had a good-paying job as an attorney, a husband, a house, and the most adorable baby girl. The problem was, though, that aside from the time I spent with my baby, I was actually pretty miserable. I was depressed but still functioning at a level of basic survival from day to day.

 The scariest part about this for me was that, growing up, I had suffered a very hard depression beginning in my teens and lasting through my early twenties.  Not knowing any better and simply wanting to be free from the prison of my mind, at age 19, I dropped out of college and consented to weeks of the tortuous “treatment.”  I set out on a course to be like everyone else and live happily ever after.

 Yet, I couldn’t have been more unhappy. I remember one evening, mindlessly stirring a pot on the stove, lost in my misery. My eight-month-old was sitting on the kitchen floor playing with some pots and wooden spoons of her own. Suddenly, she looked up at me with her big brown eyes, picked up a pot and a spoon and started mimicking me! I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I bent down and said to her, “Yes! Just like Mommy!”

 And then, I fell to the floor. A crushing wave of nausea came over me and I was faint. It immediately became apparent to me that my daughter was watching me and copying everything I was doing, and what I was, in fact, doing was teaching her how to live a very depressed, lonely, anxious, unoriginal, and uninspired life. So, that day, I set out to learn what real happiness was because I could not bear the thought of my daughter ever having to go through what I had forced myself to endure for so long.

 I started studying happiness at the level I had once studied law—the spiritual side, the neuroscience side, the health side—everything I could get my hands on. I stopped being like everyone else and crafted my life the way I wanted to live it. To date, I have 3 bestselling books. (I have one international bestseller, Get in a Good Mood & Stay There, which chronicles my first steps of pulling myself out of depression, dealing with anxiety, and finding happiness.) I speak internationally, and I am now a television expert on multiple stations nationwide and have done well over 90 TV news and talk show appearances across the country.
