     ADAM M. CARLSON

    https://www.cmslaw.com/attorneys/adam-m-carlson/

Attorney Adam M. Carlson is managing partner at Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook. While he is skilled in various areas of law, he focuses the majority of his practice on serious injury cases, wrongful death and civil rights. While he has extensive experience handling all types of cases involving serious injury or wrongful death, he also specializes in premises and products liability matters. He believes that tailoring each case to each client’s needs is key to providing aggressive and compassionate legal representation.

In 2021-22, Carlson organized one of the most comprehensive trial strategy education series for attorneys in the Contra Costa County Bar Association. The series spanned over eight months and covered all aspects of litigation.

Before joining the firm, Carlson served as an intake assistant for our team, where he was responsible for fielding calls from potential clients. It was at this time that Carlson decided he wanted to do more. He found that he was passionate about helping individuals who suffered injuries and illness due to another person’s negligence, recklessness, or carelessness. After this realization, he enrolled in law school, where he pursued his passion for helping others facing serious and difficult legal matters.

Prior to committing his life to legal work, Carlson attended Middlebury College where he completed his undergraduate coursework. Upon the completion of his undergraduate studies, he enrolled at the University of San Francisco School of Law where he achieved his Juris Doctorate. Following law school Carlson spent several years as a dedicated attorney for the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office before joining our team. Currently, he holds memberships in various associations, including the State Bar of California, the US District Court Northern District of California, the US District Court Eastern District of California, the Earl Warren American Inn of Court, the Contra Costa County Bar Association, the Alameda-Contra Costa County Trial Lawyers Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California.

    Marshall Hammons
    https://www.esilverlaw.com/about/marshall-hammons/

Marshall Hammons has a proven track record of success in both misdemeanor and felony cases, including serious and punishable-by-life cases. He prides himself in working on some of the most difficult cases and litigation projects with a tailored approach to each case. In addition to the numerous clients for whom he has achieved favorable results, Marshall has successfully argued a motion to dismiss on a life case which resulted in a dismissal of the charges and life enhancements. Effectively saving the client from life in prison, the case ended up settling for only 6 years.

Marshall has argued successful motions to suppress evidence that resulted in dismissals. He regularly argues for bail release from jail over vehement objection by the prosecution. Marshall also has had domestic violence cases, DUIs, and theft cases dismissed by arguing for court diversion over DA objection, and saving the unnecessary criminalization of good people who made a mistake. As the firm’s lead “post-conviction” attorney, he also has been able to get countless probations ended early, reduced felonies to misdemeanors, expunged records, sealed arrests, even vacated pleas due to immigration issues, and has removed clients from the sex offender registry.

He graduated cum laude from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, and holds a B.A. English and a B.S. in Political Science from Santa Clara University. Before joining Silver Law Firm, Marshall was an integral part of Curtis Briggs’ and J. Tony Serra’s pro bono representation of California’s longest serving Death Row inmate. As an unparalleled example of police, prosecutor, and other misconduct, Marshall learned first- hand how the system is stacked against the accused, and how important it is to have a team that will fight your case.

In his final year of law school, Marshall interned at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office where he aided in the representation of numerous felony and misdemeanor cases and trials.  Marshall will stop at nothing to get the best result possible.

Roseann Torres, Esq. is the founder and CEO of Torres Law Group Inc since 2004 & serves as elected official to the OUSD School Board as Trustee since January 2013.

Roseann has practiced law since January 2000 where she began her legal career in government in San Joaquin County, first as a Deputy County Counsel then as a prosecutor. She moved to Oakland in March 2004 and started Torres Law Group Inc. with a focus on serving diverse communities, especially as a bilingual attorney fluent in Spanish.  The firm focuses on personal injury accident cases.

Being equally committed to the community in which she lives, Roseann makes time to give back. After becoming an attorney, she began volunteering at local alternative high schools with students competing in mock trials. She focused on schools where students were typically denied access to extracurricular programs and students faced obstacles due to poverty, serving a majority Black and Latino students. The goal was to be a role model and relatable to these students who had been kicked out of traditional schools, since she attributes much of her success in life to the effect of mentors after facing difficulty in high school due to bullying.

    Yesenia Sanchez
    https://www.sanchez4sheriff.com/

I was born in Hayward and have spent my entire life in California. My family has played a big role in shaping my core values - integrity, respect, accountability, transparency, and openness.

I’ve always ingrained those values into my work in the Sheriff’s Office. I am a proud Latina with Mexican roots -- my father, Mario, immigrated to California from Mexico as a child and my mother, Sylvia, moved to California from Texas at an early age. Family has always been important to me and I have two older brothers with whom I have always been close. My husband Todd and I have been married for 14 years and we have made our home in Livermore. I am the proud stepmother of three daughters.

Our family ended up losing our home while I was in high school, and I chose to focus on working to help my family as I completed my high school education and had to forgo college -- it was not an option for me. By the time I was 18, I was working three jobs to help my family get by. A year later in 1997, I applied to and was hired on into the entry-level role of Sheriff’s Technician within the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, a good paying job with benefits that was secure. This is how I started my career in public service and law enforcement.

    • Sheriff’s Technician (1997-2001). Assigned to North County Jail (now the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility), in Oakland where I tracked and logged the day to day activities of the jail.
    • Deputy Sheriff (2001-2009). Served as a sworn peace officer, at the jail, on patrol and as an investigator.
    • Sergeant (2009-2013). First line supervisor at the jail, on patrol and investigations.
    • Lieutenant (2013-2015). Served at the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility (GEDDF).
    • Captain (2015-2020). Served at GEDDF and later within Support Services, managing the Planning and Research, Technology Systems, CALEA, Multimedia and Central Identification Units.
    • Division Commander (2020-present). My current role in which I oversee and manage the Santa Rita Jail facility in Dublin.
