YOU ARE WORTHY! That is what we are talking about today on the Podcast. You are worthy of so much more than you think. You are worthy of so much more than you allow. You are worthy of your best and truest life and of becoming the exact person you want to be. You are worthy. I struggle with this. I'm writing it just as much for me as I am you. I believe that you are worthy, but self worth, that's another animal entirely. But it's true. I have to keep coming back to that and reminding myself that I am worthy, and so are you!

What is The Inner Knowing? Many call it god, some call it it spirit, source, and others just think of it as energy. There are certain things that we just feel in our bones. As a culture we are obsessed with fairness, rightness, and knowledge. The inner knowing can be a guide to us. Sometimes we access it during meditation, prayer, or even just being in nature. We each have our own individual unique way of looking at the world and the inner knowing can help us along on that journey. What is your Inner Knowing telling you?

There are things in this world, beliefs we have, that can either serve or NOT serve us. Today on The Allegory and Elm Podcast we explore letting go of the things that are NO LONGER serving us, re-evaluating, and reinforcing the things in our lives that do serve us.
A theme that kept coming up was relationships. Your relationship to food, to alcohol, to social media, to politics, to even your friendships. Sometimes things can serve you for a while and then, they may actually be a detriment to your growth journey. Some relationships can actually hold you back. Some belief systems and ways of thinking can hold you back from living up to your fullest potential.
If you are in the process of questioning ANYTHING, please reach out. Whether it is a paradigm you've lived by that no longer serves you, or ways of thinking that just don't honor who you want to be, REACH OUT! We would love to have a conversation about this as we are still very much in process.

The Trans community has been under attack essentially since its inception. Sometimes people are fearful of what they don't understand. Often fear leads us to being cruel because it gives us a pass from having to be introspective. We can project our insecurity, our distaste, onto others because we are uncomfortable with what's different. Trans people are people. Let's try to see people on a human level first. Why would we want everyone in the world to be the same? It would be a pretty boring world if that was the case.
This week on The Allegory and Elm Podcast we have Indigo Sterling (Amy Smith) who is an author, mother, and transgender equality advocate. She is joined by her husband Kevin Smith who is an entrepreneur and local business owner. They share the story of their transgender daughter who is 9, and her experience within the school system. Amy and Kevin are activists for the transgender community and they share their personal experiences advocating for their daughter and the transgender community at large. If you want to purchase the book Yes, My Brother Wears a Dress or find out more about Emma's story, check out Indigo Sterling's website. I think the book is amazing!! Check it out here... https://www.indigosterling.com/
This was an education for Katie and Andrew as we both don't have a lot of experience with the transgender community. We were so glad to get educated, but also a bit disheartened about how marginalized the transgender community has been and currently still are treated. We have the ability to change that, by educating ourselves, and by speaking out against hate.

With everything going on in the world right now, we thought it would be a great time to talk about inclusion. What is inclusion and why should we include people from different races, classes, sexuality, and gender identity? Quite simply because it is right to do so. We've all felt the feeling of being left out or excluded before. It feels like shit. We have the ability to treat everyone with respect, dignity, and kindness. So why don't we? Maybe we do some of the time, maybe even most of the time. But, why is it that we sit back and allow exclusion of others to occur without us speaking up?
My best guess would be fear. We often fear what it will cost us to give up some of the privilege or our current status. This may be true, but do we care enough about common decency, anti-racism, the LGBTQ+ community to speak up? We often fear other people's perceptions and judgement of us. Let them judge. Let them perceive you how they wish. How do YOU want to live? What is YOUR standard for yourself?

It is one thing to die healed, but to live healed is something entirely different. We don't have to work toward an end goal of healing. We can practice healing on a daily basis and live in a healed state. We can practice healing in our relationships, in our differences, in our trauma and brokenness. We do not have to be victims. We can acknowledge the pain, honor it, but not let it hold us back from growing into the people we want to be.
Leaving Christianity has helped Katie and Andrew to both live a more healed life. We entirely respect where you are on your spiritual journey. We want healing and growth for all the humans!! We are all flawed. We are all messed up. Let's own our shit before it owns us!

What Is An Unraveling?
An unraveling means to undo twisted, knotted or woven threads. And the threads were woven deep, even since childhood. The threads of redemption, resurrection, the promise of hope, the failure of sin, the shame, the inadequacy, the guilt, and the never being enough. Your Story Matters... and so does Katie's. This week on The Allegory and Elm Podcast, Katie shares her Unraveling Story and her deconstruction from Christian faith.
In reflecting back, this process of deconstruction was over a decade long and was a slow progression away from Jesus and towards Embracing Herself Whole. This ultimately resulted in Katie leaving Christianity. Her spirituality, faith, and hope all remain in tact, however the framework and The Source of spirituality has changed. If you are in the process of questioning, please reach out. If you are firm in your faith and you completely disagree with us, please reach out respectfully. We would love to have a conversation about this as we are still very much in process.
