We see that God frequently calls people into a unique service. We see that, as we have the last few weeks, in regard to the tribe of Levy, we see that in regard to the household of Aaron, and God, even to this day, is calling people in a unique way to serve Him and to participate with his will. And we need to remember that, that if we are His servants, we are going to be committed to his will and not ours.

We have seen that God has a plan. Now we are all called to a certain degree to serve the Lord, but there is that special expectation upon the first born. And I made mention last week that that concept of firstborn relates to a priority, and we need to be people that demonstrate that God is the priority of our life, that we put Him first, and everything else in our life is subjected to him.

When you read the Word of God, you find that prophets are always rejected by the people. Even the religious leaders of Israel did not want to tolerate the prophets of the Lord. Why is that? Because humanity has that sinful nature, and that sinful nature speaks to our flesh and it emphasizes our will, and it rejects the will of God, we need to change if we are going to find peace and joy and contentment, if we are going to find a life that has meaning and significance, a life that has an eternal aspect to it. We need to experience redemption. We need to be born again, and we need to agree with God.

God is going to reveal, through Amos, three visions, and each of these visions relate to destruction. God, who is merciful, who is full of grace, He is going to relent, but there is going to be that change that he promises. Because without that change, Israel will not become the people that God has commanded them to become. Take out your Bible and look with me to the book of Amos in chapter seven.

We have seen throughout the book of Amos that God is not pleased with the world, and the primary reason for this is that Israel is not doing what God has called Israel to do. In the passage of scripture that we're going to be looking at in this time of study, there's an emphasis on the Levites. Now the Levites took a unique position. We know that there is a concept of the firstborn, and we learn in the scripture that God has called the Levites, this tribe, in order that they would replace the other first born from all the tribes, that they would serve as the firstborn.

Last week, we began a new book, the book of Numbers known in Hebrew as Bahamut bar, which means in the desert or in the wilderness. And the primary thing that this book teaches from its name, because wilderness or desert is not a place of sustenance. We find that it's only through relying upon God, trusting in God, believing in God, that one finds God's provision.
