Water is an important concept in the scriptures. Frequently, water symbolizes life, but when we speak not simply of water, but rather rain, it symbolizes blessing. And when God withholds the rain. What he's saying is, I'm not willing to bless this group of people, that there's something a problem, there is something offensive about them, and therefore I will not bless now realize that God's desire is to bless, therefore it's us.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do. Many times you have an opportunity to act and achieve what you want, but if it's not what God wants, you ought not do it. We need to understand how to practice restraint, to cause ourselves to say no to the things that God is not glorified with.

Our God is always faithful to carry out what he has revealed to the prophets. It's only a matter of time to any prophetic truth that God has revealed for that truth to become a reality. God is holy, He is righteous, and God will not ignore sin. God is gracious and merciful, and He will give time to repent for one to form regret within themselves and to act on that regret. But if one does not judgment and punishment is sure to follow.

The God of Israel is not a respecter of persons. What does that mean? It means that God has no favorites. When we speak about Israel being the chosen people, it is incorrect to think chosen means the favored people. What it means is that God has uniquely created Israel, and has chosen Israel in order to serve Him, to be the vessel which God will bring blessing into this world, potentially for every nation and every person that is God's desire, God has a plan to bring that about.

What is it that we should expect? We should always expect God to fulfill His word? That is to say, Whatever God has proclaimed, it will most certainly be a reality. And if we will base our life upon the word of God, we are going to experience the faithfulness of God. The Bible makes it very clear God does not lie. Do you have spiritual discernment? Those who are led by the Spirit, those who are committed to the Word of God, they're going to have discernment, that is, they are going to be led by the Spirit of God and be able to discern what people are experiencing, what they are going through when someone is sad and grieving and when someone lacks encouragement.

You can tell a great deal about someone by observing one's children, if the children's are serious about God, and walking in the authority of Scripture, you can be assured that that person also is committed to God. But unfortunately, the converse of that statement is also true, and that's exactly what we're going to learn in today's study.

God is faithful. We talked about this in our last lesson, and when we experience the faithfulness of God, let me say that differently. When we receive an answered prayer, or God delivers us, helps us, moves in our life, we should be quick to respond to him with thanksgiving. We should be quick to pray to him a prayer of exaltation unto Him, for He is worthy.

There is a concept in Judaism called shalom, by it, which means peace of the house, and that is a very important blessing for every family, that there be peace. But remember something, the word peace just doesn't mean an absence of conflict, but peace is related to the will of God. So if you really want peace at your house, you must be committed to the will of God.
