Remy Kloos is a young South African woman who has set her sights high on becoming the youngest South African to complete the Seven Summits challenge - climbing the 7 highest mountains in the world.
She recently spent 57 days in the Himalayas attempting to summit Mount Everest (the highest peak in the world) as well as Mount Lhotse (the 4th highest) in a 24 hour period. This too was a record attempt and if successful Remy would have been the first South African to do this double summit in 24 hours.
However, after spending 57 days in the Himalayas and reaching 8000m - the Death Zone - Kloos’ expedition was cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions, 2 cyclones and temperatures below -30.. which made the risk of frost bite and death too high to proceed.
