In a sermon somewhat hampered and shortened by increasing rain, we look at the redemption by which we have purchased for holiness- what the Christian has been redeemed from, by what means he has not been redeemed, and by what precious blood he has been redeemed.

-While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light- -Jn 12-36-.--These earnest words, among the last public declarations of our Lord, reveal a passing opportunity, make clear a necessary duty that is plain, simple and abiding, and point to a new identity.--They continue to reveal to us the importance of trusting in Christ Jesus while the opportunity is given to us, that through faith in him we too may become sons of light.

How many believers are full of joy- The apostle John writes in order that Christian joy may be full.--This reminds us that a Christian's joy is not always full, but may be, so we need to understand what can dent our joy.--Then we consider how Christian joy comes from a knowledge of the truth by which we enter into fellowship with God in Christ.--Finally, we turn to Scripture as the written deposit of the truth by which we come to enjoy fellowship with God, reading, hearing, studying, dwelling on and speaking God's truth, that our joy may be full.
