Main Event Marks

It was the night 3 NFL superstars (one now a fulltime wrestler) took part in a WCW pay-per-view! Slamboree was never one of WCW's marquee events throughout the year, but they tried to bring the goods in one of greatest years in company history (at least in our opinions). Not only did former Chicago Bear, Steve "Mongo" McMichael go one-on-one with Green Bay Packer and future Hall of Famer, Reggie White, but North Carolina Panther and future Hall of Famer, Kevin Greene, teamed with the legendary "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair to take on the NWO team of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Syxx. Chris Benoit faced off against Meng in a Death Match, the Dungeon of Doom implodes, Glacier and Mortis continue their feud as Wrath is brought into the fold, Ultimo Dragon and Lord Steven Regal have a banger for the TV Title, and Rey Mysterio Jr. takes on a NJPW star. All of this plus the Monday Night Wars and much more to discuss in the news segment!

Coming out of WrestleMania I, we had Saturday Night's Main Event debuting on NBC in May of 1985! These shows were always structured weird, and this one was the first one to do so. The "main event" was actually the second match on the show, with Hulk Hogan defending the WWF Title against "Cowboy" Bob "Ace" Orton. Wendi Richter also puts her WWF Ladies Wrestling Title on the line against the legendary Fabulous Moolah while Cyndi Lauper cheers her on. The show also takes place on Mother's Day, so we get a lot of special stuff going on to celebrate mothers (oddly enough, Mr. T doesn't talk about his mama). In the news, we also talk for almost an hour about the state of the territories in the United States as well as wrestling abroad in Japan and in Mexico. There's a lot going on, not all of it is great, but all of it is entertaining as hell.

It was a night of Triple Threat title matches. All 3 title matches (X-Division, Tag, & World Heavyweight) were Triple Threats and all three were good to great. The former America's Most Wanted of James Storm and Chris Harris fought in a Texas Deathmatch that was bloody and fantastic! In the news, we also talk about new releases from TNA, Scott Steiner actually being happy (for once), WWE movies bombing and Vince McMahon blaming the studios, Vince being shortsighted on Mixed Martial Arts, and the future of WWECW.

ECW was always the "wild west" of professional wrestling. The Marks (Troy & Greg) were not fans, but they're expanding their horizons by covering this one. Rob Van Dam and Sabu (both clients of Bill Alfonso) were feuding over the TV Title. The Dudley Boyz took on Tommy Dreamer and Sandman (who was wrestling with a neck injury). Bam Bam Bigelow and New Jack brawled all over the arena. Closing the show, Al Snow gets his shot at the ECW World Heavyweight Title against Shane Douglas, who is wrestling with a laundry list of injuries. This was Al Snow's final appearance in ECW before hopping over the WWF, so he tried to make it special. In the news, we talk about DX "invading" WCW Nitro, the ratings wars continuing, what's going on in Japan and Mexico, and much more!

We're finally here at episode 100, and we're doing it BIG! For a "throwaway pay-per-view" like Judgment Day, this one was freakin' awesome! Almost everything in the WWF in the year 2000 was hot as hell and almost everyone was over as all hell! Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit tore it up for the Intercontinental Title, Triple H and the Rock faced off in a 60-minute Iron Man match for the WWF World Heavyweight Title, and above all else...the Undertaker returned from injury. But was he the Deadman? No! He was riding a motorcycle, coming out to Kid Rock's "American Badass," and the crowd was all the way there for it! In the news, we cover how Buff Bagwell got arrested, a WWE Hall of Famer passed away, and ECW was still alive and kicking...for a while.

It's Lockdown, where every match is held inside of a steel cage! We're going a decade back in history to when Bobby Roode was riding high as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He put his title on the line, in the main event, in a cage, against "The Cowboy" James Storm in Storm's hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Opening the show (for the first time ever) is Lethal Lockdown, where Team Garett faces Team Eric. The losing Bischoff is fired from TNA and can never use the Bischoff name again. Yes, this was a real stipulation. The TNA Knockouts Title and Knockouts Tag Titles are also defended in some pretty bad matches. Kurt Angle, with a bad wheel, faces Jeff Hardy, who has a chronic limp. So, that one was interesting to watch. In the news portion, the Marks (Troy & Greg) discuss the death of a legend, the return of a mega star to WWE, and rumors surrounding Eric Bischoff and Spike TV.

Eric Bischoff was sent home from WCW around August of 1999, leaving the ship without a definitive captain. Vince Russo showed up in WCW in October of 1999, right before Halloween Havoc, and was gone by January of 2000, right before Souled Out. It's now April and both Bischoff and Russo were brought back by WCW management to work together after the previous regime just wasn't cutting the mustard. What's the brilliant plan here? They're basically resetting the company, starting fresh with storylines and such, stripping all champions of their titles, and holding tournaments to crown new champions. It seemed like a dumb idea at the time and it turned out to be a dumb idea in execution. The partnership between Bischoff and Russo doesn't last and it all blows up in everyone's faces by the end of the summer, but for now, the Marks (Troy & Greg) are bringing you a review of what happened on the first week of this unholy alliance in World Championship Wrestling.

Mankind and Paul Bearer burned the Undertaker's face. Now, the Deadman wants revenge! This was also the first pay-per-view after WrestleMania XIII and everyone is gunning for the WWF Title. Bret Hart is on his anti-America crusade and Stone Cold Steve Austin is looking to stomp a mudhole in him, Owen Hart, and the British Bulldog before walking it dry! The Nation of Domination is continuing their feud with Rocky Maivia and Ahmed Johnson. The Legion of Doom is also on the hunt for the WWF Tag-Team Titles. In the news, we have a lot to talk about as MMA promotions are dropping like flies. The WWF defends itself as they become "less family friendly." Vader was detained in Kuwait for assaulting a television host and swearing on TV (which is a crime over there). We also cover the fallout from ECW's first ever pay-per-view, Barely Legal (which was barely watchable)!

Our journey through TNA's 2007 in pay-per-views continues! And this time, every single match is in a cage! Honestly, it wasn't a bad show. The two marquee matches for this one were Team 3D vs. LAX for the NWA World Tag-Team Titles in an Electrified Steel Cage match and the main event, which was Team Christian Cage vs. Team Kurt Angle in Lethal Lockdown! Team Angle recruited Jeff Jarrett, who no one on the team trusts. Will "The King of the Mountain" do what he promised and help Team Angle win, or will he turn his back on them all and face their wrath? Meanwhile, that electrified steel cage was...something. It was a spectacle. I'll tell ya that. And not in a good way. The Austin Starr/Senshi/Bob Backlund feud is miraculously STILL going on. Gail Kim takes on Jackie Moore in the 6 sides of steel. The new Christopher Daniels does battle with Jerry Lynn. We've got a 6-man X-Division Xscape match (it was fine...). Also, Chris Harris & James Storm face off in a Blindfold match. Now THAT is something worth seeing and talking about! Talking about, laughing at...whatever!

It was the night the "Macho Man" Randy Savage said, "I think I want to take the Diamond Cutter tonight!" And take it, he did! This is the match that made people look at Diamond Dallas Page as a bonified main eventer. Also on this card, we see Booker T & Stevie Ray (who were a team at the time) taking on The Giant & Lex Luger (who were a team at the time) in a Four Corners match. Yeah...only 1 winner, and it's every man for himself. Booker hilariously drops the N-word in his promo about Hulk Hogan. We also open the card with Rey Mysterio, Jr. taking on Ultimo Dragon, Akira Hokuto faces Madusa for the WCW Ladies Title, the Public Enemy faces the odd team of Jeff Jarrett and Steve "Mongo" McMichael, both Kevin Nash and Rick Steiner lose their partners and have to go one-on-one for the Tag Titles, and much more! There's also some interesting wrestling and MMA stories going around post-WrestleMania 13 that the Marks (Troy & Greg) discuss!
