We also acknowledge our disappointment with dysfunctional institutions turned rackets and the normalization of corruption—focusing here on education and the pharmaceutical industry.

Our conclusion? Face the future. Honestly acknowledge the mess between where we are and where we'd like to be. Sort through the pieces and reuse the best parts in the sustainable system we must create to survive and thrive.

Part 3 is here at last and Conor is now a married man! We talk about his Costa Rican wedding and sketchy expats, like John McAfee, in central America. From there we shift to the story of Edward Snowden and permanent government records of private citizens via bulk collection surveillance.

In this episode's middle portion we talk about the history of what landed the US at the threshold of war with Iran. We also talk about the American-Israeli love affair and historical roots of anti-Semitism.

The episode closes with the stories that make political candidates compelling, the particular danger of sexual violence for trans women and how 2020's election may just rhyme with the now infamous 1968 Democratic National Convention.

This episode starts with me acknowledging I forgot to press record the first time I had Tom in studio. Then the important stuff—fake birthdays, Irish goodbyes and wandering, sleepy drunks.

I talk about exploding my iPhone battery then we delve into futures portrayed in Brave New World and 1984. We talk DNA heritage testing, data rights, social credits and being hyper-specialized.

Tom and I break to talk about re-watching old favorites, comedy shelf life, the exhaustion with judgment and criticism and entertainment's shift from the ironic and cynical to the sincere.

During the second half we blow your mind with corporatism, defining our shared future narrative, the focus of new education on adaptation, collaboration and critical thought, virtual reality, Inception and Interstellar, Artificial Intelligence and parallel universes.

Tom and I talk about why the world needs sharing of ideas and experiences. I mention my concern that the increasingly networked and collaborative world is foreign and dismissed as a novelty or regarded with hostility by those who didn't grow up with it.

Uncertainty and its accompanying anxiety are part of growing pains. However—as we face the infinite possibilities of futures shaped by our imaginations and technologies in every conceivable way—adventure, boldness and purpose must lead the way.

Stay engaged as we journey forward to renew our shattered institutions and discover within the unknown. The new frontiers aren't just forward, but now also inward and outward.

Kyle and I address what must be said: Much generational wisdom isn't timeless. Respect and appreciate your elders but question their advice.

Technology and information has re imagined every decision and institution which was previously taken for granted.

We highlight miscommunications, innovation disruption, what our data knows, what substances can improve the human experience and a personal story about an overdosing close call.

To soothe the calls for revolution we must consider a bargain that enables societal and technological evolution. Our institutions need rejuvenating and modernization. Badly.

Nolan and I have another conversation. This time about preserving the innovation of capitalism while responsibly redistributing some of its profits.

It's not free lunch but the cost of doing nothing is far greater--civil war. Right now the powder kegs are stacked. The rapid acceleration from order to chaos you won't see coming. The spark could be something common, maybe an election. Think very hard about 2020.

We also talk about the personality differences between men and women and how we need the engagement of all types of men and women for balance.

Blockchain is likely to be the next internet. Its evolution in currency, elections, energy markets and contracts will change life profoundly and permanently.  Sadly, the conversation has mostly been academic and abstract—between technologist eggheads speaking Klingon.

Author John Hargrave has brought the concepts of blockchain and cryptocurrency down from the clouds so that us mortals can appreciate and understand. John and I discuss how his background in humor and improv before technology became the unusual talent stack he needed to become blockchain’s Paul Revere.

In less time than a Super Bowl halftime show we barrel through talent stacking, visible discomfort, the rocket rule, network effects, free transactions, our shared belief in money, and the frustrations of raising pampered chickens. It’s all part of the creative process.

Infotainment at its finest.

Kush, Jack and I talk candidly but optimistically about responsible progress. This includes the steroids effect that technology has on the best and worst aspects of humans and institutions. It also includes the realization that a stable society requires liberal creators and visionaries and conservative implementers and defenders. We get into personality, intelligence, psychology, tailored news, radicalization, surveillance and interpreting data. We also talk about tech companies, gene editing and an updated liberalism for the 21st century. As we map and chart a course through these confusing times we also go on tangents about chum buckets, Planet Fitness, multitasking and Lars von Trier films. *Shrug* It happens (when you make it up as you go).

Ok, so sometimes I'm dumb. Sue me. This time I overwrote or deleted the first several minutes of my dialogue with Conor. So you're being dropped right into the middle of the action. We start off talking about Donald Rumsfeld's memos and how together with Dick Cheney he advocated the hunt for WMDs and war in Iraq. Other major topics of this episode include the Afghanistan Papers, the Panama Papers and the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The upcoming Part 3 will highlight several remaining major pieces of a vastly complex story: Edward Snowden and Stellar Wind's mass surveillance, the Donald Trump Impeachment saga and tensions with Iran.
