This episode is about the near future. We have something to look forward to if we share the vision and aim for it.
-Our ideas, narrative and institutions are ready for renewal
-Societal crises are cyclical and are followed by creation
-The need to avoid totalitarian and authoritarian tendencies despite a large portion of the population preferring the simplest stories, ideas and labels
-Today's generation gap is larger than ever before because the young have embraced technology and access to information
-Progressives create and innovate, conservatives implement and preserve and a stable 21st century society demands both
-Narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths use charisma to achieve a disproportionate amount of power and spread misery to others
-The economic engines of the superpower American economy, greed and consumption, are not sustainable and must be transitioned to restore economic and environmental health
-The successive collapse of shared social narratives has led us to where we are today
-The 2020 election and it's aftermath will be the greatest near-term challenge to our vision of the future
-The only political candidates with compelling stories are Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang
-Bernie Sanders will likely win the nomination but not without a contested convention and violence similar to Chicago in 1968
-2020 is going to be populist vs populist and Trump will likely defeat Bernie Sanders then preside over an economic downturn
-Ultimately we will prevail through these hardships if we resist violence and anxiety, collaborate and maintain the free flow of ideas
-We're not through the storm yet but this is the seedbed of a 21st century America and world
