Kārikā - 1.3

विश्वो हि स्थूलभुङ्नित्यं तैजसः प्रविविक्तभुक् ।

आनन्दभुक्तथा प्राज्ञस्त्रिधा भोगं निबोधत ॥ ३ ॥

3. Viśva always experiences the gross (object), Taijasa the subtle and Prājña the blissful. Know these to be the threefold experiences.

Karika 1.4

स्थूलं तर्पयते विश्वं प्रविविक्तं तु तैजसम् ।

आनन्दश्च तथा प्राज्ञं त्रिधा तृप्तिं निबोधत ॥ ४ ॥

4. The gross (object) satisfies Viśva, the subtle the Taijasa and the blissful the Prājña. Know these to be threefold satisfaction.

त्रिषु धामसु यद्भोज्यं भोक्ता यश्च प्रकीर्तितः ।

वेदैतदुभयं यस्तु स भुञ्जानो न लिप्यते ॥ ५ ॥

triṣu dhāmasu yadbhojyaṃ bhoktā yaśca prakīrtitaḥ |

vedaitadubhayaṃ yastu sa bhuñjāno na lipyate || 5 ||

త్రిషు ధామసు యద్భోజ్యం భోక్తా యశ్చ ప్రకీర్తితః ।

వేదైతదుభయం యస్తు స భుఞ్జానో న లిప్యతే ॥ ౫ ॥

5. He who knows both the experiencer and the objects of experience that have been described (associated) with the three states, is not affected though experiencing: the objects.

सुषुप्तस्थान एकीभूत: प्रज्ञानघन एवाऽऽनन्दमयो ह्यानन्दभुक् चेतोमुखः प्राज्ञस्तृतीय: पाद:॥ ५ ॥

yatra supto na kañcana kāmaṁ kāmayate na kañcana svapnaṁ paśyati tatsuṣuptam,

suṣuptasthāna ekībhūtaḥ prajñānaghana evā‘’nandamayo hyānandabhuk cetomukhaḥ prājñastṛtīyaḥ pādaḥ

యత్ర సుప్తో న కఞ్చన కామం కామయతే న కఞ్చన స్వప్నం పశ్యతి తత్సుషుప్తమ్।

సుషుప్తస్థాన ఏకీభూత: ప్రజ్ఞానఘన ఏవాఽఽనన్దమయో హ్యానన్దభుక్ చేతోముఖః ప్రాజ్ఞస్తృతీయ: పాద:॥ ౫ ॥

5. That is the state of deep sleep wherein the sleeper does not desire any objects nor does he see any dream. The third quarter (Pāda) is the Prājña whose sphere is deep sleep, in whom all (experiences) become unified or undifferentiated, who is verily, a mass of consciousness entire, who is full of bliss and who experiences bliss, and who is the path leading to the knowledge (of the two other states).
