In this latest episode of the Maritime Podcast we hear from Cameron Mitchell about his experience within a government structure and his advice to newcomers on the importance of learning & development for successful career progression.
In a conversation with Emma Howell, Director of Digital Media for Seatrade Maritime, Cameron takes the listener on a voyage from his youth growing up in the West Coast of Scotland and studying Marine Engineering in Glasgow through his career with the Isle of Man Ship Registry.
He talks about his time working as surveyor for the Isle of Man Ship Registry and qualifying to conduct various types of audits and moving onto various other roles within the island’s government under which the Registry sits.
Cameron has since returned to the Registry in a leadership position and discusses the training and skills required for such a role. He also explains about the structure and workings of the Registry.
The conversation moves on to touch on other roles Cameron has in the maritime industry in mapping global pollution and international superyachts.
