This was not supposed to be a 3 parter. But it was to raw and difficult to speak about in one hit. I just couldn't do it.

I live with mental illness.
But so does my kids. My wife chooses to be with me every day. They never had that choice.
My mental illness continues to affect them to this day. They way they react and interact with me is determined by the formative experiences of their life.
Experience of a father who was distant, angry and unapproachable.
There is narrative in the world at the moment that seems to want to teach young women that their default emotion should be fear.
Afraid of men.
And women have the right to feel this, however as a father I have taught my daughters to be strong, not fearful.
Careful & aware when appropriate, but not afraid.
A strong woman will not allow an abusive person to become part of her life.
A strong woman will see a bully for who he is and reject him outright.

The reality that you have new limitations that are beyond your control.
But acceptance can lead to hope.

Let's just come out and say it - domestic violence (for whatever reason) is unacceptable.
That's it.
That's the bottom line.
We need to talk about domestic violence as people that live with mental illness because it is so easy for us to blame our MI or use it as an excuse an excuse.
The fact that our mental illness does not give us the right to perpetrate DV on anyone. Ever.
We are accountable!
On STP we chat with a Vietnam Vet about his war, coming home, and how he views our younger Veterans.
We all struggle to understand the tragic events that happened in Bondi, where a man, allegedly diagnosed with Schizophrenia, went on a violent rampage.
In our justifiable outrage please pare a thought for those who live with Schizophrenia.
Those who don't share their diagnosis for fear of being misjudged.
The science speaks for itself... 'While some people with schizophrenia may engage in violent behaviors, this is often linked to other factors, such as substance misuse, a history of violence, or inadequate treatment.'Living with Schizophrenia does not make that person a danger to others.

What is Neurodiversity?
What is life like with Neurodiversity?
For Neurodiversity week, I and one of my collogues, were creating spots for social media and our time turned into a wonderful conversation.
That conversation was so extraordinary and so eye opening, for me, that I asked Michelle if she would allow me share the whole convo.
She thankfully said yes.
I am delighted to bring you our informal chat about Neurodiversity.
A large part of a cop's job is dealing with potential mental health incidents.
What is it like to be on the other side of one of these incidents?
I can tell you, and I will.
