Are you familiar with the word Autonomy (au·ton·o·my)?  It means -  freedom from external control or influence; independence.  Simply put - FREEDOM!

I spoke about this in Episode 3 | Find Your Freedom!

For the last month - I've had the worst bug I've experienced in my 53 years on this planet!  Yesterday was the first time I've felt even remotely good - and last night was the first time I was able to sleep in my bed.  I've been in a hospital bed and/or recliner for the last 4 weeks straight!

I don't bring this up for you to feel bad for me - but instead to illustrate a point.  If you work in a traditional job - you probably get around 5 days of Sick Time and 1-3 weeks of Vacation Time.  Once you've burned through your Sick Days - you almost always have to dip into either Vacation Days and/or Short-Term Disability (If your company even offers it).  With this last run of whatever it is I had - I would have exhausted EVERY day possible and then some.  And being gone from any position for 4 weeks is a risky one. 

But working for yourself and having the before mentioned freedom - allows you to make your own hours, your own Sick Days, and your own Vacation Days.  It doesn't rely on seniority, time on the job, and/or position within the company.

Of course, there's a Yin and Yang to everything.  Being in charge of yourself is great - but can also be crippling!  If you know how to manage your time and priorities - it's great!  If you don't - you won't be doing it long.

Even though I couldn't talk a good portion of the time I was sick - I still made it down to my War Room to do what I was supposed to do.  Where I needed to talk - I tried my hand at AI (Artificial Intelligence) and utilized a voiceover to read my scripts.  And although it was extremely difficult on me some of the time - I made Social Media Posts up in advance and utilized Social Posting Software to drip the content out.  Nobody heard me moaning and groaning, coughing up a lung, and blowing my nose like it was my job.  I knew regardless of how I felt - the trains still needed to stay on time.

I mention all this to drive home a point.  Seek out freedom!  You may have to start off slow and build up to doing it full-time - but that's OK.  Get your side hustle on and move from sometime to part-time to full-time!  You'll thank me!

Have you ever been to a business where there's a person that knows EVERYTHING?  They're that person that has been there, done that, and has the t-shirt for virtually everything that's ever happened at the business.  When those sort of people are sick, leave, and/or in the worst-case scenario die - they take ALL their knowledge, tips, and tricks WITH them!  If you work for yourself - that's YOU!

It's ESSENTIAL that you have a backup via documentation to let potential replacements know how and what you do - as well as have the info in place for yourself so that you don't miss needed steps. (Especially when you're doing something you haven't done in a while!).

Do You Give Edification?

The autonomy and freedom of being your own boss are awesome - but on some portions of it, you may still be trading time for money.  And even though you may be awesome at time management - you're still only one person and only have so many hours in the day. 

That's where systems and automation come in!

And if you really want to diversify things - add in Affiliate and Network Marketing.  That's where you can take the advice of leaders such as John D. Rockefeller -

"I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people's efforts than 100% of my own efforts."

Are you in any situations where it's time to cut bait and go?  

In 1519, Captain Hernán Cortés allegedly told his crew to burn the ships they'd traveled in.  So the phrase "Burn The Boats (Ships)" has come to mean taking away the option of retreat - and going forward against all odds.  Although it's unlikely you're in a battle - you could very well be in a situation where it's time to leave something and not look back.

As marketers - both on and offline - there are LOT (You could even say, "TOO MANY!") of distractions!  If you're fortunate to work at home - those distractions can multiply.  The point is - you HAVE to keep your eye on the target.  Otherwise, you'll fall into Shiny Object Syndrome.

Put your blinders on and remain bulletproof!

Do you think ahead about what you're doing?  I refer to it as playing Chess, NOT Checkers.

Thinking ahead is like planning.  And you know what Benjamin Franklin said, "Failing to plan is planning to fail."  All too often - we "Ready FIRE Aim" as opposed to "Ready AIM Fire" - and that gets us in trouble.

Take a beat.  As a matter of fact, take several beats - THEN act.
