I'm going to be celebrating those all February. And guess what? We have an extra day in February this year. So happy birthday to those who are leap year babies.

🟥⬛🟩 I just want to give a little black history here. So as I was doing some research, I came across information about the first known black educator. Her name is Susan King Taylor. She was the first black teacher to teach openly in a school for former slaves. She was born as a slave on a plantation in Georgia, and later lived with her grandmother, who was influential in her education. So that's just a little tidbit and a nod to Black History Month. 🟥⬛🟩

I know many of you are back in the classroom or headed back to the classroom. And really what that means is that CTSO competition is headed into full speed ahead. Right?
I know that because I'm actually going to be a judge this year for the district in which I used to teach in. And that's going to be happening in a couple of weeks. I really look forward to judging, being on the opposite side of the coin this year as a judge.
So anyhow, I know that I've been talking about DECA related to roleplay, DECA related to project presentation DECA related to prepping for competition or your chapter for competition. So today, I'm going to be talking about trip time. So gather your pen and paper and get ready to take a few notes. I'm going to try to go through this pretty quickly. I don't want to make it a long episode. So listening, gather your notes and everything and stay to the end for the freebie that I have for this particular episode. All right, you ready?

Welcome to 2024. Let's get this season started.
So as Nigel in the infamous movie, The Devil Wears Prada said, All right, everyone, Gird your loins. And he said this in preparation for Miranda, the infamous Miranda walking into the building. I'm saying it in reference to the DECA season and CTSO season, walking into the building. it is January and it is time to get ready for competition. You've done all of your prep. Now it's time to get the show on the road. In this episode, we're going to be talking about a DECA Advisor Prep Guideline that I've put together for competition season. This encompasses all the things that I myself had to do in preparation for competition.

Episode 11. Merry Christmas. Yes, I'm releasing an episode on Christmas Day, but rest assured that I am spending time with my family. So yesterday I got to see my eight month old granddaughter walk, yes walk at eight months, eight months old, she's practically running at this point. Not surprising though, since both of her parents are track athletes, and I'm pretty sure she's trying to keep up with her two older sisters.
This week, I'm talking about a DECA project prep framework. It consists of three parts.
It's a lot. So grab your notepads and pens and be ready to take lots of notes. Because this is going to be a full packed episode of information.

When I tell you that I’m so proud of my alumni, it’s an understatement. As I said in another episode, through social media I see them going to college, starting careers, and adulting. But sitting down and chatting with them really allows me to hear how CTE and CTSO programs ignite a spark in them that continues to fuel their life choices and career journey .
Today I’m talking with a 2017 graduate of my Fashion Marketing Program, Edna Palacio. She was one of my more quiet students who really blossomed post secondary in pursuit of her passions. This episode is a great one to share with your students who are prepping for college and deciding on careers.

Episode 8. It's always fascinating to hear about the diverse paths that students take after graduating from high school, especially when they pursue a passion and successfully carve out a career for themselves. In today’s Feature Friday, I sat down with one of my 2011 graduates Adriana Caballero. She was one of my very creative and ambitious students who:
Listen in as she shares her post-secondary journey which I’m sure would benefit many seniors to hear as they prepare for the next phase of life.
