  • Yay for shit shows - BUSINESS BIRTHDAY SPECIAL

    Send us Fan Mail

    "Monday's are good"

Today I am interviewed by Emma Lovell as a special for my business birthday!!

Because if you haven't heard my business is THREE! (Turned Three on Monday 10th April)

Now my business is so far from the business that I started back in 2020, and it's been a very exciting journey which I've often said has been the greatest learning of my career and life.

So whether you think you know my story or not, today I chat through how I have become the marketer I am today.

Along the way Emma and I cover some key things I believe about marketing

    • Marketing is internal
    • Marketing is not a one-stop shop - you wouldn't ask for a "tradie" to fix your plumbing and electrical issues
    • Change management is so important when it comes to marketing
    • What is a marketing-centric business and why do I believe this is the only way to market
    • The business you start is not the business you will be in two years later
    • "The only time you fail is when you forget to learn."

  • Why you need PR in your marketing strategy with Nicki Price

    Send us Fan Mail

For me, PR is a lot about relationships. It's creating relationships not only with media and people who can help out by spreading the word about your client, it's creating a relationship with your client as well. - Nicki Price

Nicki Price is a publicist and the founder of the public relations firm for empowering and influential brands and people, Priceless Media. Her passion is working with clients who are making the world a better place, and her aim is to achieve the highest results possible for them.  Known for her caring and genuine nature and her infectious laugh, Nicki is highly regarded by many for her ability to chase after goals for her clients and the meaningful relationships she forms in the process.

After studying management, marketing, film, and journalism at the University of Wollongong and California State University Long Beach, Nicki began her journey as a freelance film writer and reviewer. She used her knowledge of the entertainment industry and the media to bridge into public relations and join EPEC Media Group in 2018 as Senior Publicist specialising in Entertainment and Events. In 2022, she founded Priceless Media and shifted her focus to working with powerful and inspiring people and brands, with a particular focus on health, wellness and sport.

Nicki currently lives in Sydney with her two children, and enjoys spending her (limited) spare time watching movies, throwing herself into boxing cardio and pole fitness, cheering on any and every sport, and being with her friends and family.

    Key takeaways:

    • Know your product and your brand before seeking PR assistance.
    • Determine your goals for publicity, such as increasing awareness, attracting sponsors, or promoting a new product.
    • Consider the types of media outlets you'd like to target, such as TV, radio, or online publications.
    • Be prepared to invest in PR for long-term results, as the return on investment may not be immediate.
    • PR professional can help open doors and strengthen your marketing strategy.
    • Ensure that your PR efforts align with your marketing strategy, as they work hand in hand for overall success.
    • PR placement in trusted outlets can help build credibility and trust with your audience.

These days the internet has provided MANY shop windows, and we really need to ensure we’re across all our digital ‘shop windows’

In this episode I hope I inspire you to think differently about your virtual shop window and make sure it’s inviting as hell to your ideal clients.

  • Barriers to consulting + who is your ideal client with Michelle Kvello

    Send us Fan Mail

"You need to sit down and carve out some really intentional time to do that and make your plan a living, breathing thing within your business." - Michelle Kvello

Michelle Kvello is the founder of Lantern Partners, a virtual CFO firm, working with founder CEOs of start ups and scale ups.  She has a personal love of driving entrepreneur success because early in her career she realised there was a need for founders to have access to good commercial and strategic financial support. Often the health and hygiene compliance work was sorted, but the missing piece of the puzzle was the partnering support to help the business really grow.  She founded Lantern Partners with the vision of being that partner.

The business now services clients nationally (Australia) and internationally across a number of industries.  It is also 80% female staffed and everyone works flexibly both in terms of time and location, even pre Covid!

In 2022 she launched her Corporate to Consultant programme, a practical guide through the key building blocks in making a successful move.  Think of it as your 10 year head start.

Recently named one of the top 50 Women in Accounting (2021) and top 50 Small Business Leader (2022), she is passionate about using her voice and her stories to support women in the industry, as well as small businesses and individuals moving from corporate roles into their consulting dream.  She hates the idea of people feeling “stuck” whether professionally or in business when information she shares could unlock that!

In this episode, you will learn the following:
    1. How to be intentional when budgeting for marketing as a small business
    2. How to identify your ideal clients
    3. Developing a living, breathing business plan that is adaptable to changing economic conditions.
