Les Bubka is an amazing man. When I say man, I mean a full on thoughtful man, compassionate, and strong man. Raised in communist Poland he immigrated to the UK where he now teaches his karate, but it is much more than kicking and punching (yes we all know that). Les has taken the path of using the body, through movement to set the mind right, to gain traction, direction and live a life you may not have found or thought possible.
Listen to Les as he takes us through experiences that many of us would dwell upon forever. Yet Les takes a look at it with balanced eyes and then proceeds to implement a change in the direction of better.
“Strong and caring people are the pillars of society, and Karate helps to cultivate them.” This is the maxim that Les has developed through his life journey. The Anxious Black Belt details the transformation of a happy child into a troubled teenager who discovered the benefits of the Japanese art of Karate, and his fight to overcome his anxiety.
This is a light, fun, and easy to read a book that touches on the subject of mental health and how it has impacted the life of a young man who is trying to make sense of his feelings.
